This book is a great start for couple's massage. It is easy and fun to read, yet very helpful. Not extremely detailed, but it does really help. Would probably be a great wedding shower present!

I'm shocked that in this day and age people are still taken in by "alternative medicine." I find this book amusing in its complete lack of substance. It really doesn't say anything. Have you ever noticed how all of the alternatie medicine books and "professionals" always refer to these mysterious "body forces?" Of course they never say how they work or what they are, they just spin some B.S. about how balance and harmony between the forces are key. If you all stop buying their books, lectures and services, all of these malicious quacks will go away. Its really very simple. Please, please don't make the phrase "a fool and his money are soon parted" come true.

This book is PERFECT for those just starting out in Reflexology. This book is informative, funny and extremely detailed! The books goes into much detail on all the different body systems and how everything is connected. The only thing I didn't like was that you have to read alot before you can actually start practicing reflexology. There is a part that I really enjoyed that gives you info on how to tell a person's personality by looking at their feet. :D Lots of humor and fun stuff that will make you want to keep reading until you finish. I read half of the book in the first day. You'll like it!!! :)
Easy to understand, with stimulating information.......2002-08-08
I love this book!!! As a new reflexologist, I find it so simple to use this book as a quick reference guide when I need to "remember" things I have forgotten as well, needing information on the different systems of the body. Its nice to be able to tell a client more about their problems, and even better to be able to give them advice on how to handle them holistically. This book gives great information but is funny and entertaining enough to hold any readers attention for hours!

This book really gives details on how to help yourself & others with basic reflexology techniques. Specifics of each area of the body are covered, how to watch for problems & ways to fix them. For example, ways to deal with symptoms for PMS, back problems, motion sickness, allergies & asthma. Uses of other related items like aromatherapy lotions & oils, reflexology tools & nutritional supplements. It also covers fun stuff like figuring personalities by checking out people's feet. :)
Doesn't teach you enough.......2001-10-11
This book is thick for a "Complete Idiot's Guide" book. It's packed with information. Unfortunately much of the information is on why you should try out reflexology. Funny, I bought the book because I already knew why and because I wanted to learn how to do it. In other words, the author tries too hard -- waste the reader's time -- justifying the legitimacy of reflexology.
So you don't get your feet wet (no pun intended) until chapter 13, when the author starts talking about techniques. Unfortunately she's too talkative; there's a lot of unnecessary stuff, which the book falls short when it comes to really teaching you and me how to practice reflexology. The photos are okay but few. Last year I saw a colored reflexology book at the local ...store and it was a much better book, because from the very start it delved into the how. Too bad when I went back the book was already sold out.
In short, this book gives you good background info on reflexology, but you won't learn much on the techniques from it.

The essential introductory volume of massage.......2002-07-25
So you want to bone up on knowledge and become a top-notch masseuse, eh? ...
Oh, don't get me wrong: The Complete Idiot's Guide to Massage is a great volume for people looking to learn massage... basics. It's definitely an "introductory" book, since it tries to hit all the bases of every massage technique before the back cover arrives. The result is that you feel more "educated" about what you're getting into than "enabled" to do massage.
Of course, the book has a lot of helpful techniques and teachings in it! You can certainly become a great amateur masseuse with this book's lessons and little natural skill. The muscle diagrams, in particular, are very helpful (you gotta know WHERE to massage, eh?), as well as the many warnings peppered around the book that explain why you should not paralyze your massage partner (they get upset with you) and the like. But in the end, I certainly felt like "That's it?" and will be buying a more detailed book soon.
Starting with this Guide, though, is a great idea. It eases you into massage smoothly and easily, and perfectly prepares you to start practicing on the nearest sore person or dive into more complex educational resources.
COMPLETE is the word........2000-04-15
This is perhaps the consumate reference book for massage. Intelligent, thourough, and fun. All types of massage are addresed here. It's a must have for the serious (and not so serious)student.
A Fun and Informative Trip.......1999-07-07
This is an instructive and, dare I say it, entertaining map to the world of touch therapy. The authors take us through a wide range of massage topics, including techniques, history, philosophy and more, in easy to understand terms. The format of chapters, sidebars and summaries gives us the details while reminding us not to forget the essentials. Finally, in the text and graphics, the authors remember that a little levity makes the trip that much more enjoyable. I would recommend this book both to health care professionals and those just looking for a way to relax at the end of a day that has seemed like a week. Fine, fun work.
Hands down the best introductory book on massage ever!.......1999-06-14
Idiots everywhere, rejoice! After finishing this excellent book, you too can give a massage! In this down-to-earth tome the reader is treated to the history, terminology and easy to follow techniques of massage.
