2 out of 5 stars Not So Accurate.......2007-01-05

This book really didn't help me much. The foods that are on the "allow" list are in actuality NOT allowed and can really set a candida patient back on their quest for health. I would not recommend to someone that is truly fighting this disease.

3 out of 5 stars Candidiasis ad infinitum.......2006-08-12

Of the large numbers of books on this subject, this one offered little new information. I did see a few recipes that appealed, but could have easily skipped this one.

5 out of 5 stars Candidia Albican Yeast-Free Cookbook, The: How Good Nutrition Can Help Fight the Epidemic of Yeast-Related Diseases.......2005-08-24

This book has helped answer many of my questions regarding Candida and has explained what I can expect as I go through the healing process. It is very informative in relation to diet and has good recipes to make the plain food we have to eat a little more exciting.

4 out of 5 stars Easy Candida Recipes.......2001-03-07

I thought this book was very helpful. What I liked most was the "rainbow meal plan" which listed the vegetables and meat combinations you could have on this diet at every meal. Because there are so many vegetables/meat combinations to choose from you shouldn't get bored. The plan also recommends steaming for all your food so it's easy to prepare - all you need is water, a pot and a steamer. The downside is you do have to chop a lot of veggies - however, it's worth it! I also had a hard time with another recipe which called for "Homemade Potassium Baking Powder" pg.83. In the recipe the book says to use potassium bicarbonate which can be ordered from a pharmacy. However, when I went to pick up my bicarbonate it had a skull and cross bone on the bottle and was rated somewhat toxic. When I talked to the pharmacist he said I needed to know what percentage of the potassium bicarbonate was called for because potassium bicarbonate is a strong base. Anyway I had no way to get that information so I skipped that recipe. So obviously the book should be more detailed about things like that. Yet even with this snaffoo I thought the book was helpful and still use most recipes.

• Includes the author's latest research and clinical experience for yeast detection and drug-free treatment

• Over 36,000 copies sold to date

Candida albicans is a yeast that exists inside all of us. Normally it presents no problems, but today's widespread use of broad-spectrum antibiotics, contraceptive pills, and steroids, as well as a sugar-rich diet, can cause a proliferation of this parasitic yeast. This can often be the root cause of a wide variety of problems such as depression, anxiety, irritability, bloatedness, heartburn, tiredness, allergies, acne, migraine, cystitis, and menstrual problems. Leon Chaitow, using the latest research and his own clinical experience, shows how to determine if yeast is your problem and provides a comprehensive, non-drug program for its control.

4 out of 5 stars Our Internal Unwanted Guest.......2000-11-12

Most Americans are harboring this dreaded over grown bacteria and it is being overlooked by thier doctors. As long as Americans stay on thier typical diets of antibiotic laced meat, sugar and processed foods they are headed for a condition they would not wish upon thier worst enimies. This book should be read by every one who wants to stay well and those that don't you need not read this very helpful method to prevent future sickness.

4 out of 5 stars An excellent introduction to candida albicans........1999-01-03

I had already been diagnosed with candida albicans when I had the good fortune to find this little book. I read it in one sitting and was released from years of guilt and confusion over my uncontrollable emotions. I learned that emotional instability, among many other symptoms, was due to the candida. I am purchasing multiple copies of this book to give to my family and friends because it is an excellent and easily understood tool to present candida albicans to people who have never heard of it. It is not the definitive work on the subject but it has enough information to get you going. The natural course of curing candida is much more successful than using pharmaceutical drugs and this book touches on that area. I wish that there was more information on curing candida in this book but other than that, it was extrememly helpful and encouraging.

4 out of 5 stars Basic summary of symptoms and causes of Candida and CRC........1996-11-15

Introductory text explaining the causes and symptoms of Candida Albicans, and Candida Related Complex (CRC). A must read for those experiencing the problems caused by the systemic Candida infection, and for those who want to avoid the long and painful road to recovery.

4 out of 5 stars The relief of simplicity.......2004-12-30

This book is uncomplicated, straight-forward and doesn't sway from it's belief system through contradictions.

The receipes are created with regular foods found in your grocery store and carbs are counted per serving for each receipe. Not a low/no carbohydrate concept, but more of a balanced body chemistry alternative... such as fruit can unbalance your bodies chemistry, and should only be consumed as an occasional treat. Takes the cave-man diet to a new, healthful, fresh and appetizing level while eliminating mold, sugar, additives and suggesting the moderate use of certain food that can upset the natural body chemistry.

Overall, it's a great feel-good type of book. Just like my new beverage of choice called s o y f e e. It's made from soybeans that you brew just like coffee. Caffeine-free, you'll find it at www. S oycoffee.com.

An excellent book to have on hand for reference as well as quick healthful receipes.

5 out of 5 stars It Changed My Life--literally.......2004-09-07

I reached a point in my life where I was constantly ill. I had never-ending digestive problems, including loud, involuntary stomach rumbling (while in my college classes, how embarrassing), gas, sick stomach, and plenty of fatigue. I was a bit fat and depressed. Fortunately, I found this book. I won't say it cured every single thing in my life--there is no "easy cure-all." But it made such a difference.
The book has you eat a wide range of vegetables, some meat/protein, and drink only water. I ate nuts and yeast-free crackers, too. It sounds like a crazy change, and I admit I had a hard time with it. I wasn't always perfect, either. Sometimes I would get depressed because I couldn't eat all the donuts, fruit, dairy, and pasta that I loved. But what a difference in my health! That deprivation was so hard but 110% worth it. I lost weight and that was great, but I also had energy, my horrible, uncontrollable health problems went away, and I was happy again. What price can you put on just being happy and appreciating your appearance and having the energy to do what you want to do?
Also on the positive side, I discovered new vegetables that I really enjoy and a whole new way of eating. Also, I want to point out that it was hard to eat this way because I wasn't used to eating all these fresh vegetables instead of my processed, man-made foods and sugars, but the food was actually very good, colorful, varying in taste and texture, and creative. I learned what it was like to feel light and energized after dinner instead of too "full" and weighted down and tired. And I did go through the expected withdrawal period for 3-7 days at first (while my body was cleaning out yet still craving the toxins), but after that I felt better.
I won't say I was perfect after doing my cleansing eating period. I still love Chinese food, for example. But I know now how to take care of myself, and I wanted to make sure to share my experience. Anything worth having requires sacrifice, but let me tell you, this is worth it!! It's the real deal.

5 out of 5 stars The Candida Albicans Yeast-Free Cookbook, Updated Second Edi.......2002-10-13

A yeast infection can manifest itself in a variety of ways. Symptoms include, but are not limited to, digestive difficulties, food allergies, joint pain, fatigue, and depression. Candida albicans, the medical name for culprit in most yeast infections, lives in everyone. A number of factors, usually related to lifestyle and eating habits, can allow it to multiply out of control, creating serious problems for its human host.

Although a medical professional can diagnose a yeast infection, it's usually up to the individual to get his/her body back into balance. The Candida Albicans Yeast-Free Cookbook, Updated Second Edition, by nutritionist Pat Connolly, provides all the information individuals need to restore themselves to good health.

Although it says "yeast-free" in the title, that doesn't mean that the recipes are prepared without yeast. Unfortunately it's not that simple. Yeast thrive on sugar, and the recipes are designed to eliminate sugar from diets, making the individual "yeast-free."

The basis of a sugar-free diet is the "Rainbow Meal Plan," developed by a team of doctors. The Rainbow Meal Plan is very simple: each meal "includes small portions of seven food groups: complete protein; grain or legume; root vegetable; yellow or white vegetable; green vegetable; red, orange, or purple vegetable; and leafy green vegetable." The portions are all the same size. Individuals may eat as many meals a day as they like, but each meal must contain equal-sized portions of each of the seven food groups.

Connolly provides some sample menus to help people get started on the plan. He has also provided a selection of recipes for a "Modified Food Plan" for those who are unable to use the Rainbow Plan. Most of the recipes are very simple and use easy-to-find ingredients.

He also includes tips on eating out, good nutrition, hidden sugars, and foods to avoid under all circumstances.

A comprehensive questionnaire at the beginning of the book will help those who suspect they may have a yeast overgrowth.

The Candida Albicans Yeast-Free Cookbook offers hope and practical help to all those suffering from yeast infections.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent recipes and large selection of each type........1999-09-17

The recipes are great. The one for the home made mayonaise is fantastic. It is as good or better than the store bought. Each recipe I have used has been a delight. Even my husband is enjoying the food I have been presenting.

    Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars Dangerous and Irresponsible..........2007-02-04

Colloidal silver is a poisonous substance that has been deemed dangerous and unsafe for medical use by the Food and Drug Administration and numerous other agencies.

This book is not only ridiculous, it is dangerous. In addition to the severe health risks to those taking colloidal silver, Farber is spreading misinformation that could lead to increases in unsafe sexual and other behaviors that put people at serious risk.

Please note that the only accolades for this book come from his brother, and desperate, misguided people who are in need of real medical assistance. Turning your skin grey is only the beginning of the troubles these individuals will suffer if they follow the advice in this poorly written, error-prone book.

4 out of 5 stars My internist and my neurologist encourage me to continue .......2005-06-01

Reading Paul Farber's book The Micro Silver Bullet and my subsequent correspondence with Arnie Farber have contributed considerably to my gaining control over my chronic borreliosis (Lyme disease) by means of colloidal silver.
The scientific explanation of the effect of colloidal silver is clear. There are many sensitive reasons why this effect has not yet been scientifically demonstrated. In spite of this I decided to start treatment with colloidal silver after a year of taking antibiotics had had no effect. From the moment I started taking colloidal silver I have been steadily gaining control over the borrelia bacterium. I have never again felt as ill as I did immediately after completing the treatment with antibiotics. My health has gradually improved and my strength is increasing. My internist and my neurologist encourage me to continue treatment with colloidal silver. I have now been taking it for two years. The quality of my life is high. I owe a great deal to Paul Farber's crusade against Lyme disease and to the care of his brother Arnie.

4 out of 5 stars Dr. Farber was right!.......2002-07-20

I owe my good health today to MSP. In 1994 I became ill with what I thought was the flu, turned out to be Lyme disease. It never got better. I lost my ability to work, I was a court reporter, because I never knew how I would feel from one day to the next. I slept 15 to 20 hours a day, fevers, joints became so painful I had to use a cane. This lasted for a year. Took antibiotics but then felt even worse, because of the Candidiasis. Someone gave me an 800 number for MSP. I had nothing to lose. I figured I would end up in a wheelchair. I ordered a bottle, and the book. I was not too impressed with the book, I must say. It wandered a bit. Before I started the MSP, I insisted on speaking with Dr. Farber. He called me and described my symptoms and exactly what I could expect. Within in four days I noticed a difference. My fever broke. I did not need to sleep all day. Within two weeks I was able to walk without problems. I was off antibiotics. Within three months, I was able to lift weights, do everything I had before my illness. Dr. Farber saved my life. I was saddened to hear of his passing. If you have Lyme disease, you must try MSP. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. I call it my miracle, and there are so few these days.

    5 out of 5 stars Truly a miracle substance.......2002-06-30

Suppose there was a substance that you could buy for a few dollars a pint, or make in your home for a few cents a gallon, that kills every known bacteria and virus ever discovered. Suppose that you and your family would never have to have a cold or flu again, or ever worry about more serious or fatal pathogens such as the AIDS, Ebola and Hanta viruses. Suppose this substance not only was completely non-toxic at any level, but also no pathogen could ever become resistant to it, unlike antibiotics. This substance exists, and is called colloidal silver.

What percentage of the world's economy is related in some way to health-care? What percentage of the health-care business is related to "treating" (not necessarily curing) viral and bacterial infections? What percentage of the drug companies business involves drugs that "treat" such infections? Since colloidal silver cannot be patented and is completely effective against viruses and bacteria, it represents an extreme threat to a significant portion of the world's economy. Any wonder very few people have ever heard of it? It is a documented fact that the medical establishment has attempted, so far unsuccessfully, to get colloidal silver banned. You would also expect there to be vicious attacks on this substance by the health care "powers that be". You can observe this for yourself by reading a couple of the reviews posted here. I note that one individual posting such a vicious attack on this book also has posted other such reviews regarding other works on colloidal silver. Gee, I wonder why? By the way, I personally consider anyone that deliberately attempts to suppress knowledge that would significantly ease pain, suffering and death in this world to be pure evil, and subject to unimaginable consequences for their souls. If these "skeptics" were scientifically competent, they could go into a laboratory and observe under a microscope the effect of colloidal silver on any pathogen they choose to test.

Is this book perfect? Nope. However, the value of any work that documents the effectiveness of this miracle substance cannot be measured. The author discusses his own cure from the results of advanced Lyme disease that resulted in his paralysis from the chest down. After all "establishment" treatment failed, colloidal silver cured him completely.

I have personally done research on colloidal silver for years, and can attest to its miraculous qualities. I have not had a cold or flu since I started using CS (when symptoms start appearing, gargle with CS and use it as a nasal spray until all symptoms quickly disappear). I also was able to eliminate warts I had had for twenty years that no "establishment" treatment was successful against. It is the real deal.

1 out of 5 stars Any value lost in welter of off-topic nonsense.......2002-02-26

I would have rated this book with no stars if it were at all possible. If there is any value in this book, it is OVERWHELMED by the huge amount of completely off-topic filler that seems to take up the GREAT majority of this book. The reader is dragged endlessly through discussions of the author's religous beliefs, (having no bearing on the topic) trite feel-good sayings, (again, having nothing to do with the subject) pictures of endless friends, acquitances, and "associates", (again having nothing...) strange leaps of faith that are to substitute for science in his statements on how silver colloids work, and other frustrating side trips. ...

It is unfortunate that what content which MIGHT have had some validity (instead, see Robert O. Becker's "The Body Electric" and "Cross Currents" for an excellent discussion of some of the uses of silver colloids in medicine - such as healing of bone infections, etc., and Ronald J. Gibbs "Silver Colloids, Do They Work" for a reasoned and easy to understand discussion) is so completely lost in this wreck of a book. (Not to mention that it is simply hard to read because of confusing page numbering, bad indexing, frequently changing typeface, etc.)

My remaining concern is that this author, presenting himself to be widely educated in his field, cites his multiple degrees. Unfortunately, four of these degrees come from the "Clayton College of Health, Birmingham, AL", a well known "degree mill" without any valid, recognized accreditation of any sort. (See John Bear and Mariah Bear's "Bear's Guide to Earning Degrees by Distance Learning" or check into the website (...) You will find that Clayton College's accreditation comes from two bogus accreditors, one, an individual who is a graduate of Clayton, the other a health food store. NO Clayton naturopath graduates are licensed to practice in any state where it is legal for naturopaths to practice, and there are no correctly accredited colleges who would accept credits or a degree from Clayton for transfer to their school. Employers with adequate resources to check on the validity of a degree would not accept a Clayton degree either. In addition to his four degrees from Clayton, his chiropractic degree is from Cleveland College of Chiropractic which is a college with an at best questionable history. Cleveland College has been sued successfully on at least two occasions by current and former students for its inadequacy in teaching necessary subjects and its failure to provide clinical practice sessions for the students to learn hands on chiropratic by practicing on real patients. As a result of this failure on Cleveland's part its' graduate's rate of passing of state licensing exams is poor - proof of their inadequate preparation by the college - which again casts strong doubt on another one of Paul Farber's degrees.

Becase of these questionable degrees, the fact that the author claims himself to be an expert based on these degrees, and the other problems with this book, I have to say that your money and time are much better spent elsewhere.
