Book Description
Deepak Chopra has touched millions of readers by demystifying our deepest spiritual concerns while retaining their poetry and wonder. Now he turns to the most profound mystery: What happens after we die? Is this one question we were not meant to answer, a riddle whose solution the universe keeps to itself? Chopra tells us there is abundant evidence that “the world beyond” is not separated from this world by an impassable wall; in fact, a single reality embraces all worlds, all times and places. At the end of our lives we “cross over” into a new phase of the same soul journey we are on right this minute.
In Life After Death, Chopra draws on cutting-edge scientific discoveries and the great wisdom traditions to provide a map of the afterlife. It’s a fascinating journey into many levels of consciousness. But far more important is his urgent message: Who you meet in the afterlife and what you experience there reflect your present beliefs, expectations, and level of awareness. In the here and now you can shape what happens after you die.
By bringing the afterlife into the present moment, Life After Death opens up an immense new area of creativity. Ultimately there is no division between life and death—there is only one continuous creative project. Chopra invites us to become cocreators in this subtle realm, and as we come to understand the one reality, we shed our irrational fears and step into a numinous sense of wonder and personal power.

A Must Read for Students of Metaphysics.......2007-06-02
Deepak packs this volume with myths, lists, musings and ancecdotal examples about life in the hereafter. He does not prove the existence of the great by and by, but he does proves that any good thinker, organizer and writer can make a case for anything. As always, Deepak's tone is reductionist. He'll give you the universe, cultural history and directions to Nirvana in a nutshell. The book takes its time to make very few valid points, but it tackles a topic that is intriguing and difficult to substantiate. Sometimes I wish Deepak would forget his polemics and become a full fledged mystic poet. All and all, a must read for students of metaphysics.
Facing death is better than being afraid of it........2007-05-25
I am a stress management consultant and a life coach with People Development.
This is the absolute Best book on death for the baby boomer generation.
Also I think this is the Best book Deepak has ever written.
My clients feel relief after they read it.
I personally love the question he poses "Why are most people only concerned with what is to happen to them after they die".........Deepak suggests we ask instead..........Where did we come from?
Very thought provoking!
Read this book and share it with those you love.

Deepak Chopra's Life After Death is an intelligently written, thought provoking opinion of the life process. I recommend it without reservation!
No "Proof," But Still a Worthwhile Read.......2007-05-10
We could not help but feel that it was rather odd that Chopra chose to subtitle his book on death "The Burden of Proof." If he set out to prove that there are many conflicting concepts and belief systems concerning death that have not been resolved, he was successful. If his goal was a unified theory of death, the subject proved to be too complex even for Chopra to master. That said, Chopra offers readers an interesting mix of Eastern and Western concepts, tying them together with recent discoveries from the realm of quantum consciousness. Chopra weaves a delightful Hindu folk tale throughout the book, effectively using it as a springboard for deeper discussions. The wealth of information Chopra presents certainly offers the reader a myriad of ideas to contemplate, and for that reason it is certainly worth the price, but potential readers who are looking for a definitive philosophy or concrete answers will be disappointed.
In our opinion, the book's greatest value lies in its presentation of recent research in the areas of consciousness and the Zero Point Field. Our perception of death is inescapably linked to our perception of who we are. If we believe we are this body, or any other body we may have experienced during a series of reincarnations, we identify with the personality of the body and perceive death as the ultimate loss. The grief experienced at the loss of the personality is further compounded if we connect the concept of sin and punishment to death. If we understand ourselves to be pure eternal consciousness that has projected the illusion of a body, death has no more meaning for us than changing clothes because we know the Self must remain through every permutation. Unfortunately, Chopra connects this state of pure consciousness to the Void, a repository of all quantum possibility, the place where everything begins and ends. This view relegates God and consciousness to nothingness and a complete absence of personality. If Chopra's assumptions are correct, there appears to be no point to existence either in this life or any that would come after it.
We understand that Chopra's book was not intended to be an exploration of the meaning and purpose of life, but it does not appear to be possible to examine the subject of death without addressing the meaning of life. On one hand, Chopra states that the Void is the ultimate goal. On the other, he explains that we exist so that God can experience through us. If we accept the second theory, we could logically conclude that God is conscious, does experience, and could therefore be said to have a "personality." If that's the case, we might also conclude that God would enjoy the companionship of other conscious "personalities." In our opinion, the concept that all potential exists in a Void or field, and the concept that personality exists in pure consciousness, are not mutually exclusive ideas. God can be all things and be known by aware creations. In the end, Chopra proves that there is still much to ponder. Each reader must take from this book the information that rings true to them and leave the rest. After all, if quantum research proves true and we do experience whatever it is we believe we will experience, the experience of "death" may ultimately be whatever we want it to be.

Interesting.......2007-04-12
Although this book gets bogged down sometimes in explaining an account of an ADC (After Death Contact) after you have just read the account, it is very interesting. If you are open to such experiences, this book will bring you comfort in confirming that life goes on in other forms.
Very good reading..............2007-04-07
This book will inform and inspire
you so I would recommend this book to
anyone who is searching for truth
and meaning in life. Very useful.
Boring.......2007-03-18
Page after page, after page of the same old same old. Story after story of after death encounters from different people.
The book could have been only one chapter and made a huge hit with me. It could have just said there were this amount of people that had ADC's and here are a just few of those encounters. Believe me a few would have been enough (I already believe).
On the back of the book it states: "comfort and emotional support for those who are bereaved", among other false statements. I believe this book was an annoying, let down and a waste of both time and money, to the bereaved and everybody else.
Don't waste your money buying this book. If you think you want to read it (you really don't), get it from the library. The book was a waste of money! It was so bad, I will not buy anything from these so called authors again.
Also, the star ratings are misleading as 1 star means you hate it 2 stars means you don't like it. Therefore, it's getting stars for being disliked and hated.
BEAUTIFUL book! .......2007-03-12
Definitely my very favorite book on Life After Death. This has been my favorite book to give someone who has lost a loved one and believes in life after death.. and I've given several of them out. The book is filled with hope and helps to open your senses and awareness so that you can recieve the signs that might be trying to get to you from a loved one. Highly recommended for anyone grieving the loss of a loved one and believes in life after death.

Book Description
A brilliant and unprecedented work, Chasing Justice is the riveting chronicle of how a smalltown murder became one of the worst cases of prosecutorial misconduct in American historyand sent the author, an innocent man, to hell for twenty-two harrowing years. Kerry Max Cook is one of the longest-tenured death-row prisoners to be freed: This is his unbelievable story and the only fi rsthand account of its kind.
Wrongfully convicted of killing a young woman in Texas, Cook was sentenced to death in 1978 and served two decades on death row, in a prison system so notoriously brutal and violent that in 1980 a federal court ruled that serving time in Texas's jails was "cruel and unusual punishment." As scores of men around him were executed, Cook relentlessly battled a legal system that wanted him dead; meanwhile he fought daily to survive amid unspeakable conditions and routine assaults. When an advocate and a crusading lawyer joined his struggle in the 1990s, a series of retrials was forced. At last, in November 1996, Texas's highest appeals court threw out Cook's conviction, citing overwhelming evidence of police and prosecutorial misconduct.
And finally in the spring of 1999 long-overlooked DNA evidence was tested and it linked another man to the rape and murder for which Cook had been convicted. Today, Cook is a free man and the proud father of a young son.
A shocking look inside death row, a legal thriller, and an inspirational story of one man's ultimately triumphant fight against extreme adversity, Chasing Justice is a landmark work, written with the powerful authenticity of Cook's own hand. It will forever unsettle our view of the American justice system.

You will not be able to sleep until you finish this book.......2007-06-04
I have read the book twice. This is a first hand account of one of the worst cases of injustice in American History. Kerry Max Cook has brilliantly written his own book about life before and after death row and the scars that he still carries with him from the experience. I highly recommend this book to all. I have already bought copies for all my friends.
Moving true-life account of perfidious injustice.......2007-05-30
There have been a spate of books lately about how poorly the American criminal justice system performs. This is surely among the best, though it is not without fault.
Kerry Max Cook was convicted in 1978 of a brutal rape and murder. He was sentenced to death. Over the course of 21 years with the help of a series of committed criminal defense attorneys and capital punishment opponents, he was able to obtain three re-trials. One resulted in a hung jury, another in guilty verdict and the fourth pending trial led to an agreement that saw him released from prison and death row, still as a convicted murderer.
After 20 years on death row, several appellate court decisions and DNA testing, it is abundantly clear that Kerry Max Cook didn't committ murder, rape or any other crime against Linda Jo Edwards in 1977. It is also clear that a long line of Smith County, Texas prosecutors, police officers and others committed crimes against Cook, the least of which is perjury. Nothing of course happened to those who perpetrated frauds upon the court, violated their canon of professional responsibility or flat out perjured themselves. The man the DNA evidence and early eyewitness account pointed to as the murderer has never been charged. In fact, the Smith County, Texas District Attorney's office still maintains, despite the proverbial mountain of evidence against it, that Cook is guilty.
Cook is literate, but not overly articulate. His tale of unbelievable hardship drags in places, but the message resonates clearly: there are proecutors and cops who lie simply to get a conviction. There are criminals who will conjure up stories with the help of prosecutors and cops to get a good deal for themselves while an innocent person is condemned.
I live in the Chicago area where dozens of convicted murderers have been set free because DNA evidence, unavailable or untested at the time of their trial, has established that they could not have been the perpetrator of the crime. The man who headed the State's Attorney office that secured many of these false convictions, Richard M. Daley, has been repeatedly elected Mayor of Chicago. The media never questions him about how all these innocent men were convicted. The same holds true in Smith County, Texas: the several District Attorneys who used perjured evidence or even perjured themselves go unpunished as does the suspect most likely to have committed the murder.
With the recent case of the three Duke University lacrosse players accused of a non-existent rape by Mike Nifong, dubbed a "rogue prosecutor" by the North Carolina Attorney General, we've seen once again how easy it is for prosecutors with the help of dishonest law enforcement officers to frame totally innocent victims. (The NC Attorney General called the three accused innocent.)These three young men were fortunate in that their families had enough resources to get them good legal help and that mostly conservative bloggers investigated and started poking holes in Nifong's stories. It was months before even parts of the mainstream media began to doubt Nifong and the accuser. Kerry Max Cook and the many other convicted innocents weren't as fortunate.
Kerry Max Cook has written a compelling account of his life. That he can have any hope at all is indeed inspiring. His story is a caution that the guardians, above all, must be guarded. The innocent are, as we learn almost monthly as more convicted murderers are found to be innocent through DNA testing, condemned to lengthy prison terms or even death based upon mistaken or knowingly false testimony.

Justice-Texas style.......2007-05-08
In March 2007, I attended a talk by Kerry Cook with a 80+year old nun who asked me to go with her. I did not have a clue the subject, I just went to drive for her. What an eye opening experience hearing Cook talk about his experiences in the small room crowded with college students, some of whom are part of various programs to help those imprisoned who are innocent. I later bought the book and I was angry the entire time I read it and ashamed I am a Texan, but relieved that Texas lawyers were the ones who finally helped Cook get free. Cook's story will change your life; if you are in favor of the death penalty, it will change your mind. If you are on the fence, you will get off it. You know in your heart and by current events that there are many more innocents wrongly on death row, put there by "evil" prosecutors, sheriffs, lawyers, etc., not to mention just sloppy police work. It's a crap shoot how you are treated. Kerry Cook is white, can you imagine how Blacks and Hispanics are treated in the criminal justice system?? I am still reeling and Kerry Max Cook has the rest of his life to have nightmares....
If you believe in Justice in our court system, read this...........2007-03-17
because you won't be a believer for long.
Kerry Max Cook tells us exactly how it is to be on death row in this country. He paints the picture of being wrongly convicted that chills one to the very core of their being.
If your pro death penalty... you won't be so sure of that belief after reading this.
One has to give this man KUDOS for enduring a 20+ year nightmare. As well as the attorney's that stuck by his side and believed in him and worked pro bono. It takes a hell of a belief system to get through what this man survived.
I recommend this book to everyone, pro or anti death penalty. It is very educational on our justice system, prosecutor misconduct, judges who are blind to "real justice" & Investigators who will stop at nothing to gain a conviction.
TRUST THE EVIDENCE, NEVER TRUST THE AUTHORITIES.
Justice?.......2007-03-15
Having just finished reading Chasing Justice I probably should be waiting a few days - or even months - to calm down a bit, but I'm finding that impossible. The anger I feel, not only for what the author somehow managed to endure for over 20 years, but how little has been done by the people of Texas to rid themselves of the continuing menace that infects their legal system makes me wonder what kind of a people we are, to continually put our heads in the sand, ignoring the continuing abuses perpetrated by the police, prosecutors, judges and politicians that are supposed to be serving us.
In one of Cook's final chapters he tells us what most of the main participants are doing today. Aside from a few that have died or retired, all police, prosecutors and judges are still doling out Texas-style justice. The person who all of the legitimate evidence points to as the real murderer is still free. Of course all of the residents of Death Row who were there with Cook have been executed. I realize that this thirst for blood is not just peculiar to Texas - much the rest of our nation isn't that much better - but one would think that if we're going to be handing out the ultimate punishment so frequently, even though it doesn't accomplish anything other than satisfying a savage hunger for revenge, it might be wise to make sure that we get it right and make sure that the innocent don't get flushed down with the guilty. One also has to wonder how the family of the murdered girl managed to go along with the charade all of this time, knowing full well that the wrong man was being persecuted.
It's also interesting that who should make an appearance in this Kafka-like saga other than George W. Bush himself. As Texas Governor between 1995 and 2000 one of the first things he did was to sign off on legislation to make it easier to execute those on Death Row by limiting the appeal process available to them, resulting in him signing off on over 150 executions in 5 years. How many of those men were innocent? Is this where he developed his officials-can-do-no-wrong attitude that he has ruled with since he came into power in 2001? In the case of Texas vs. Kerry Max Cook errors and incompetence led to lies and cover-ups which led to more lies as witnesses were coached into changing stories, forensic evidence misinterpreted and pages from witness accounts "lost." All this so officials in charge of the case wouldn't have to admit that they erred in the first place -something that they've refused to admit to this day. In the case of the Bush Administration vs. the U.S. - or perhaps it should be the World - errors and incompetence made after 9/11, accompanied by a huge dose of arrogance resulted in lies and cover-ups which have led us to where we are today. If those parallels aren't enough and we need more all we have to do is throw in a huge portion of a public that is willing to accept practically anything that is told to them because we must "trust our leaders."
Kerry Max Cook is an example of what a human being is capable of. He's managed to take those 20 years that were stolen from him and make them meaningful to all of us. He shouldn't be ignored.

Book Description
In Life After Life Raymond Moody investigates more than one hundred case studies of people who experienced "clinical death" and were subsequently revived. First published in 1975, this classic exploration of life after death started a revolution in popular attitudes about the afterlife and established Dr. Moody as the world's leading authority in the field of near-death experiences. Life after Life forever changed the way we understand both death -- and life -- selling millions of copies to a world hungry for a greater understanding of this mysterious phenomenon.
The extraordinary stories presented here provide evidence that there is life after physical death, as Moody recounts the testimonies of those who have been to the "other side" and back -- all bearing striking similarities of an overwelming positive nature. These moving and inspiring accounts give us a glimpse of the peace and unconditional love that await us all.
Customer Reviews:
Testimonials Interesting, Moody's analysis not.......2007-06-14
While the subject of life after death and what people experience after they die is extremely interesting to me, I found the majority of this book rather boring. The people's accounts of what happens were quite interesting (which Moody did not write), but I found Moody's introduction and analysis to be somewhat lacking and surface oriented. He seemed to be saying the things that any reader could gather from reading the testimonials on their own. The best analysis he gave was when he drew parallels from other religions, but even this section could have benefited from more research and more sources.
I also found his analysis of the testimonials to be too biased, he clearly wants to get across the idea that there IS life after life without saying it, but I think this bias makes me less likely to believe what he is writing about. When he poses questions regarding the reliability of these accounts or alternative explanations, he seems to go around the question so his explanation can support his view. While I do believe that there is life after death and your soul travels without your physical body, I would have liked to see Moody go a bit more in depth with his research and analysis.
Enlightening, Interesting, Fascinating Read.......2007-05-22
I had heard and read so many positive reviews of this book that I had to read it for myself. After reading it in one sitting (I couldn't put it down), I wholeheartedly agree with those readers who gave it five stars.
While I find the subject matter of near-death experiences extremely fascinating, I was drawn to this book primarily due to a good friend's recent and -unexpected- passing. I wanted to know, that being the wonderful and giving person that my friend was throughout life, he experienced the all-permeating joy and Light when he passed from this physical life. I am a Christian and thus, strongly believe in an afterlife in Heaven. So I didn't need this book to "prove" an afterlife to me. Nonetheless, reading it gave me much comfort.
I also appreciated Dr. Moody's clinical & unbiased approach to his research. I also found his writing style to be engaging and clear.
If you're at all remotely interested in learning more about NDE's, I highly recommend reading this book. You won't be disappointed.
Better books available.......2007-05-06
If you want to know more about matters of life and death, there are far, far better books than this one. Copyright says it was first published in 1975. Maybe Mr. Moody has come a long way since then, but I don't know as this is the only book of his I've read, so far.
I've been studying this subject for about 8 years, now. This book has serious problems regarding the impressions it can leave you with. The only part of this book that I find useful are the cases of NDEs Moody's recorded. I applaud his efforts, and they are admirable. He's done a lot good in this area.
However, with respect to this book, his philosophical and religious speculations leave a great deal to be desired. On these subjects he didn't have the shoes for the territory. He's even inconsistent in his speculations with some of the accounts of NDEs he's relating in this book.
IF you want to read on a more seriuos level about what's beyond this life, then I suggest Michael Newton's two books on "life between lives." Look up his name here and get both books. There are others that have written on this subject too, but Newton is the only one that I know of who spent decades with hypnosis patients and compiling his data. It makes a difference. To have someone relate to you what they know from a near-death-experience is very limited. Deep hypnotic states reveal far more.
I also highly recommend Brian Weiss' book, Many Lives, Many Masters; also read William Buhlman (2 books) and Robert Monroe (3 books). Weiss has written other books, but read the one above first, if you're new to this topic.
If your're a serious minded seeker of after-life knowledge, you'll get nothing more than a few cases of NDEs in Moody's book, and some seriously flawed meanderings on philosophical matters. To some people that may make no difference; to others it will. This book is also written in an extremely casual style, rather on the level of news paper articles.
Entirely Believable.......2006-11-27
Moody has done an excellent job in investigating the life after death phenomenon. Due to his background in both philosophy and the medical field, he is able to present an incredible case for the afterlife. Much of his credibility comes from the fact that he does not speak from self experience but from the accounts of his patients. This gives his writing a very objective approach not tainted by his own biases.
A very easy to read and understand book, LAL expounds upon such things as God, eternity, spiritual bodies, and many other accounts of the afterlife. One of the most well written books in its field, Life After Life continues to draw reader's minds into endless possibilities, and the one unanswered question: What if?
A readable book that deserves some credence.......2006-11-11
This is a warm and readable book about a fascinating subject: What happens at death, or near death? It is written by a world renowned and respected scholar and medical doctor. And, in spite of the fact that I am a Christian, with conservative beliefs, and even though I maintain my faith carefully focused on God, I do nevertheless give the accounts in this book some credence (along with its companion, written subsequently, "Life Beyond Death"). I invite you to read it and see why.

Highly recommended.......2007-06-11
Once started reading this book, I couldn't put it down and read it through within a couple of hours. As a counsellor I found this book an excellent addition to my therapy sessions and not only is it a fantastic tool for the counsellor or practitioner, but also very valuable for the person on the street, as it is written in the most beautiful, but also understandable language. Elizabeth Kubler-Ross provides through her books - comfort, empathy and the very necessary message of a loving spirit.
Most moving little book.......2007-05-26
Don't let the title fool you, those 80-something pages hold much more than just an essay about "life after death". To be honest, I only bought it because I have enjoyed Dr. Ross's other books, which are written with a lot of sense and straight to the point facts about her patients and observations, so I wanted to give this one a shot.
It was delivered to my doorstep 3 hours ago, and I'm already done reading the whole thing. She took a huge risk with this one, and genuinely put her heart into it by sharing very personal thoughts and experiences. I found it very inspiring, and some people might even find a few life lessons in it. It's a brilliant little book for both believers and non-believers. One of my favorites so far.
On Life and Dearh.......2007-02-17
Elisabeth Kubler-Ross is world renowned for all her books. Provides so much information on this subject.
Beyond death there is life.......2007-01-19
This is by far one of Elisabeth Kubler-Ross's most hearfelt books. It is a small book but big on content.
Elisabeth continues to give us hope beyond life on earth. In the early 1990's she decided to change direction in her teachings and concentrate on the message that there is indeed life after death.
Through her patients and her own spiritual experiences, Elisabeth has given us reasons not to fear death. To accept the next transition as a very powerful event like our birth, this will be a new birth, from "cocoon" to "butterfly".
Is There Life After Death? (Pere Marquette Theology Lecture) Theologically sound with affirmation of life beyond death.
Life on the Other Side:: A Psychic's Tour of the Afterlife Sylvia Browne has the spiritual experiences to back up her book.
Witness from Beyond Death is not the end of life; it is a new beginning. Kubler-Ross.
Testimony of Light: An Extraordinary Message of Life after Death Prepare ye the way,
Awesome and Spellbinding.......2007-01-15
My Mother died for 5 minutes when I was a teen before she was brought back to life and I always wondered if what she saw was real or something she imagined. All of these people can not imagine almost the same thing and I was awed that it was so much like her experience. I passed this book on...the lady passed it on to someone else she was so excited about it. I am now buying more to pass on. Everyone needs to read this book!

As in the case of James Redfield's The Celestine Prophecy, once in a while a book comes along that unexpectedly soars to the bestseller lists simply because it feeds a specific spiritual hunger. Talking to Heaven is one such book. Based on the personal insights and memories of highly acclaimed medium James Van Praagh, Talking to Heaven offers comforting and startling stories about his contact with the deceased. Van Praagh could have used this text to prove that his gifts as a medium are authentic--the story about the deceased teenager who led his parents to his murderer is impressive (the result was a murder conviction)--but instead, Van Praagh offers spiritual and psychological comfort to those grappling with the loss of a loved one. He also helps readers develop their own means of talking to heaven. Even those who aren't aching for contact with the deceased will find Van Praagh's down-to-earth discussions of karma, the afterlife, and spiritual guides fascinating.
Book Description
"[James Van Praagh] has changed people's lives, banished the fear of death, and brought grieving parents the solace of their dead children's presence...IT IS IMPOSSIBLE NOT TO BE MOVED." (Newsweek)
This is the groundbreaking book which introduced renowned medium James Van Praagh to the world. This is the book that changed people's lives, that gave them hope, that answered their most profound questions about life after death. This is the phenomenon that continues to grow...
"A wonderful and uplifting book...I highly recommend it. If you have ever feared death or grieved the loss of a loved one, James Van Praagh's spiritual stories and lessons will heal your heart. He is without a doubt one of the most gifted mediums on the planet at this time." (Brian L. Weiss, M.D., author Many Lives, Many Masters)
Customer Reviews:
Good, however..........2007-03-20
This is a well written book (however, impersonal) that will answer some of the tough questions we all struggle with regarding life after death. I was very interested to see the chapter on suicide and learning Mr. Van Praagh's take on this topic. While his ideas are facinating, I can't help but wonder...if someone maps their life out prior to their life/lives on Earth, wouldn't their suicide already be a part of their life-plan? If that is the case, why would some of those who commit suicide be left in a limbo like state until they finally realize they have passed? Although I struggle with this rational, I have enjoyed many parts of the book and I've enjoyed learning the author's perspective.
question everything.......2006-12-22
I would refer anyone who would take this author seriously to James Randi's comments on his behavior. He represents the modern version of the crystal ball reader and his claims should be eyed with an appropriate degree of skepticism. This would be a benign phenomenon but that his success depends on the suspension of reasoned thought on the part of those who grieve for their lost loved ones.
A Gifted Man! .......2006-09-24
James Van Praagh's insights and his life experiences are uplifting and inspiring. His ability to lead others to solve a murder mystery should have given some proof to those who do not accept his gifts.
There is much more to this book then just lots of storires about contacting spirits on the "other side"; he talks about suicide for example, and gives us a view on that subject that may help greiving families.
Excellent Book!!!.......2006-06-29
Anyone interested in psychics and spirituality will love this book (Talking to Heaven, A Medium's Message of Life after Death) by: James Van Praagh. Apart from the uplifting messages from the spirit world to their still embodied loved ones left behind, James speaks of all aspects of mediumship from clairvoyance to psychometry to clairsentience, clairaudience and seeing and reading aura's. He also speaks of the 7 chakras which are the main energy fields that must be opened in order to develope your intuitive abilities or psychic powers. He also states that you must have the right attitude before endevoring to develope you intuition. This attitude must be the desire to develope your psychic abibities for the betterment of mankind and not for fame and prosperity. He also speaks of his childhood growing up as a Chatholic and how he realized that God is beyond any one religion or faith. He realized that God Is all there IS! We all have that God Spark within us, therefore we are all one and the same in individual physcial bodies. It is for this reason that communication between our world and the astral world is possible. We never really die, we only change forms and return to the deminsion that is beyond duallity. Only our physcial world has duallity, and because of this we have physcial bodies and everything material. James also talks about reincarnation and karma. Karma is what we gather from all past experiences from this life and others that must be transended.
The saying from the bible:(What ye sew, ye shall shirly reep), is the law of Karma. Again I can't emphasize how wonderful this book is for those who are interested in the Psychic world and in developing your spirituality. James Van Praagh is a warm and loving individual who I feel is doing a great service for our fellowman, helping them to heal after loosing their loved ones from this physcical world. And teaching us all how we should treat each other so that this world will be a better place in which to live.
Fantastic!.......2006-06-27
After escaping death when my appendix ruptured and being diagnosed with a rare skin disorder,I have been searching...
I have always been fascinated with meatphysics, but only recently I have got my hands on a book that is highly uplifting.Just when I feel Like I am about to give up,this book shows up and does wonders.I more brave that ever before.Although I am a christian,I was still looking for more comfort, more answers.(because in case you guys don't know:the bible is very difficult to interpret, and as a result there are many denominations of christianity, and I don't want that.HOW do I know which is the right denomination? If all follow the "same" bible).
But this book can only be interpreted one way!And that is the way that Mr Praagh would want us to understand.
He not only wants us to know the truth, but to understand a little about himself.Thats right,he gives alot of facts based on his experience. He tells of how his Psychic gift started to get stronger as he got older. And how, like many of us,he was once lost. But now he is found and he would like us to be too.
Make no mistake, this guy was chosen by God to help us.His words in this book does nothing but comfort us...After reading this book I felt like I had died and lived many times!Which,as you will understand after reading the book,is quite natural. We all have past lives!...I challenge you to read this magnificent book, its pages are filled with comfort...And I also want you to stay and follow your religion.Because religion is not a bad thing,it is just a way for us to keep organised.(though there may be some disadvantages of religions, but it is not my business to contradict. We were all made by the SAME GOD force!)
So,in conclusion, let your Heart be the Judge of everything.Because our heart is life and life is god.And god is love and love is everything...NIGEL

TIMELINE FOR LIFE.......2007-05-13
This book was given to me after my husband died. I could not believe what it was telling me as I made my way through my troubled time. The book provided a timeline for me, a way to look ahead or back to see if I was "on track" to my new "normal" life. It provided a pathway for me to follow. The book kept reassuring me along my path. I have given the book to many people, just to let them know that they are alright in what they are doing. I keep buying a copy for myself but the book keeps leaving me to "help" another person. I am so glad that my friend found this book for me. I highly recommend this book. It is an excellent book to help someone who is dealing with grief. It also lets you know that "you are not alone."
A Classic!.......2007-03-30
Finally! A book that understands that Grieving is a process and no two people grieve the same way. Having encouraging words and sharing anecdotal stories really makes this book one that should be given to everyone who grieves. I have done many of the suggestions and it helps. It really helps. God bless Paster Deits for writing this!
Practical advice for any type of loss.......2007-01-16
Grieving is a natural process. And even though I have studied psychology, I learned many things about the benefits of allowing oneself to go through the process. In other words, don't stuff the feelings and the tears. *** This same process would apply to any loss, whether it be someones life, body part, opportunity, personal security, etc.
The Single Best Book Yet on Life After Loss.......2005-09-22
This book has become a classic in the area of life after losses of all kinds. It is a MUST-READ - in part, because our culture is ignorant yet pushy about how to live through major losses. While this book provides lots of guidelines for how to get through difficult times, it also appropriately repeats the truth that losses are different for each person - and even for each loss. It gives necessary permission for people to allow their unique feelings to come up and be expressed, rather than hiding them or being afraid of them. It promotes the truth that the only way to get through losses in life is to go "THROUGH THEM", not to "get over them." "Getting over" losses is merely a way to avoid feelings and force them to come out through the body (illness)or some other mode that is more accepted in our culture than emotions. Although these feelings may at first seem unbearably painful, the reader will find surprising relief by allowing them to be felt and then expressed either through direct emotions, or through some of the exercises provided in the book. This book recognizes that many people and even professionals may be unaware of these truths. It recommends that you either educate those people or else find a way to do what you need to do to get THROUGH your process without their input. I am a psychologist and have used this book regularly in my practice for years. But more importantly, I am a person who has experienced many losses that this book helped me find my way THROUGH.
Wonderful book.......2005-08-24
This book helped me a great deal when I lost my baby daughter. This is a general grief book that is good for any kind of grief, not just death. It helps to understand what you are going through and this book does a great job of explaining the stages and processes of grief. I have recommended this book to many people.

Book Description
John Edward, Suzane Northrup, and George Anderson are just a few of the prominent American mediums who have been accused of being frauds. But what if a respected scientist challenged them to make contact with the beyond under controlled laboratory conditions? What if the results not only stunned a skeptical scientist but also offered astonishing answers to a timeless question: Is there life after death?
THE AFTERLIFE EXPERIMENTS
Risking his academic reputation, Dr. Gary E. Schwartz asked well-known mediums to become part of a series of experiments to prove, or disprove, the existence of an afterlife. This riveting narrative, with electrifying transcripts, documents stringently monitored experiments in which mediums attempted to contact dead friends and relatives of "sitters" who were masked from view and never spoke, depriving the mediums of any cues.
Here are the results that awed sitters and researchers alike: a revelation about a son's suicide, what a deceased father wanted to say about his last days in a coma, the transformation of a man's lifelong doubts about the afterlife, and, most amazing of all, a forecast of a beloved spouse's death. Forced by data to abandon skepticism, Schwartz presents this amazing account of his groundbreaking work, compelling from first page to last.

"An esteemed scientist's personal journey from skepticism to wonder and awe provides astonishing answers to a timeless question: Is there life after death? Are love and life eternal? This exciting account presents provocative evidence that could upset everything that science has ever taught. Daring to risk his worldwide academic reputation, Dr. Gary E. Schwartz, along with his research partner Dr. Linda Russek, asked some of the most prominent mediums in America -- including John Edward, Suzane Northrup, and George Anderson -- to become part of a series of extraordinary experiments to prove, or disprove, the existence of an afterlife. THE AFTERLIFE EXPERIMENTS. This riveting narrative, with its electrifying transcripts, puts the reader on the scene of a breakthrough scientific achievement: contact with the beyond under controlled laboratory conditions. In stringently monitored experiments, leading mediums attempted to contact dead friends and relatives of ""sitters"" who were masked from view and never spoke, depriving the mediums of any cues. The messages that came through stunned sitters and researchers alike. Here, as they unfolded in the laboratory setting, are uncanny revelations about a son's suicide, what a deceased father wanted to say about his last days in a coma, the transformation of a man's lifelong doubts about the afterlife, and, most amazing of all, a forecast of a beloved spouse's death. Dr. Schwartz was forced by the overwhelmingly positive data to abandon his skepticism, reaching some startling conclusions. Compelling from the first page to the last, The Afterlife Experiments is the amazing documentation of groundbreaking experiments you will never forget."

Gary Schwartz... UNETHICAL!.......2007-04-24
Dr. Schwartz, I didn't have a choice of rating your book with NO stars, so I gave it one. You should be ashamed of yourself for exploiting Allison DuBois and her work with you. How dare you promise confidentiality and then betray the very person one of your books is based on?
Another Possibility.......2007-04-03
After reading this book I can see how people come to the conclusion the mediums are indeed in contact with the spirit world. I believe some of them are. My personal spiritual impression, and I've sensed this with the TV productions produced with many mediums, is that they really are in touch with these spirits. However, what has come to me is that many of these "peeping spirits" giving information to the mediums are spirits of a malevolent nature, in other words evil spirits. They know more about us than we think and can appear as righteous spirits giving special information that "only the departed loved one would know". They really can impart information about a wedding day, a flower in the hair, or a special event because they (the evil spirits) were there as well.
This doesn't always mean all mediums are deceivers, but they can be duped. And why would these evil spirits want to deceive us? My personal experience has been not to underestimate the ends the adversary of all that is good will go to keep us from focusing on what is really important and developing our faith in God.
Once again, I am not criticizing those who believe these things. It's hard not to believe such things. Just be very careful and understand there is a great deal of ourselves to be lost when we give our faith over to what may turn out to be a very cruel, cosmic hoax.

Excellent .......2007-03-27
If you are a skeptic about the afterlife I highly recommend this book. It's written by an unbaised scientist who has spent years testing mediums; his mantra is "let the data speak" - and BOY does it! If you like this genre, or are interested in mediums and what they have to offer, you will love all of the readings in this book and all of the scientific proof that there really is another life after this one. It's one of the best books I have read about the afterlife and I have a bookshelf devoted to nothing but books of this type

Book Description
This, the long-awaited third volume of the Cosmic Trigger series, includes Wilson's witty and humorous observations about the widely spread (and, happily, premature) announcement of his demise. And, of course, what Wilson masterpiece would be complete without synchronicities, religious fanatics, UFOs, crop circles, paranoia, pompous scientists, secret societies, high tech, black magic, quantum physics, hoaxes (real and fake), Orson Welles, James Joyce, Carl Sagan, Madonna and The Vagina of Nuit.
Customer Reviews:
Wilsonian Romp.......2003-01-15
There really is not much for me to say on this one. It's just a fun ride. The kind you come to expect with Wilson. It is book you can read without having read the Cosmic Trigger books, but it helps.
What a conclusion.......2002-04-23
How many books can begin with their author dieing? Well, it seems that nothing is impossible to Robert Anton Wilson. Finding out about his death on the internet, Wilson takes us along another journey of self discovery and an examination of belief systems.
The story takes us to Ireland and unveils a host of new story lines to help you question the way you look at the world and help you to expand your mind. While this book comes close to the second book in the series, it falls just short of being equally as excellent. Wilson again attacks his topic through the intertwining of several story lines and does not disappoint. For anyone new to Wilson, you may wish to start with the second book in the series. If you have read the first two books, this one is definitely an excellent ending to the series.
OK, HERE'S THE DEAL...........2002-03-14
I feel that Wilson might be a genius. He seems to me to be smart enough to realize that his opinion isn't necessarily the best one. He's careful to state that his opinions are just that, OPINIONS. This colors everything he does. {People looking for answers should run screaming the other way.)
This is a set of essays, strung together in a manner that will make you think. His style as an essayist is engaging. In fact, I enjoy his essays more than his novels. Even when I disagree with Wilson (which might very well happen if you read with an open mind), I still find something to think about and consider.
I think that his books are designed to be mind-openers, not mind closers...I actually met a RAW-Dogmatic guy once, and after I finished laughing, tried to show him that (in my opinion) he missed the message.
This seems to me to be a fantastic book. I hope you enjoy it, too.
Brilliant "mid-wing" essays........2001-03-16
I think it's impossible for Robert Anton Wilson to write a non-interesting book. (Unfortunately he's gone into virtual retirement since the death of this wife.) While "Trigger III" has very little to do with the first book, (actually none of them have any connection other than title ) it's just a spellbinding read. To me, only RAW can write about what would be considered incidental and trival to most people and just make one gasp at the taken-for-granted mysteries and subtleties of existence. Such as, why IS the Mona Lisa cannonized as a masterpiece while works of equal of vast superioriority not? Here(as in all his books)he absolutely blasts away both materialistic dogma (Carl sagan, CISCOP, politicans)and religious dogma ( all of 'em ).
Wilson is a philosopher who can see the beauty AND the B.S. of life. He intelligently explains having mystical expericences as a STARTING point to exploration, not a new dogma to shove down people's throats. In my opinion, no other writer is better in explaining and exposeing how the world is with more honesty, knowledge and HUMOR. ( This applies to litterally ALL his books, not just CT III)
To my knowledge this is the last book Wilson has released. I sure hope he writes another before he "moves on". His works have literally transfromed me into, I think, a far wiser person. Hopefully for you as well.
This Book is a Fake.......2000-05-15
Robert Anton Wilson's final part of his Cosmic Trigger Series proves that from the beginning its all a conspiracy. Even his own death was just a hoax. Can you prove normalcy beyond a shadow of a doubt? Although I found this part one of the best, I would still say to read part 1, then part 2, in that order. Wilson argues Evolution and Creationism, political correctness, Carl Sagan and of course, conspiracies. Well thought out with the reading that doubles upon itself, you will find how information adds up into another line of thinking. Certainly a classic RAW book! Highly reccomended!

Book Description
It has been a decade since the publication of Dr. Moody's landmark bestseller, Life After Life, and since he coined the term "near-death experience", or NDE. Today, Dr. Moody has studied more than a thousand new case histories of adults and children who have clinically reached the point of death and survived, and extraordinary new research has revealed more patterns of NDEs. Now, for the first time, Dr. Moody presents this wealth of new information to the general public information that uncovers secrets and opens the doors to a powerful message of love from the frontier between life and death. Inside you will discover:
How recent findings in medicine, psychiatry, and sociology bring us closer than ever to unraveling mankind's greatest mystery: What happens to us after we die?
Startling, newly confirmed phenomena such as:
The experience of meeting one's loved ones in the afterlife and the ability to "tap into" knowledge of any sort.
What the moving near-death experiences of children can teach us.
Why NDEs inspire permanent change, greater appreciation of life, more concern for others, increased belief in an afterlife, and decreased fear of death.
Why medical professionals are considering initiating aggressive scientific research into near-death experiences... and much more.
Dr. Moody offers both answers and peace of mind to those who wonder about death and provides another groundbreaking volume in his ongoing study of life, death, and "beyond."
Customer Reviews:
A good followup to "Life After Life".......2006-11-11
This book was written after Moody's "Life After Life," and is basically the same. And, like its predecessor, it is well-written and readable. The material is again fascinating, I recommend it, along with "Life after Life"--about which I wrote this: a warm and readable book about a fascinating subject: What happens at death, or near death? It is written by a world renowned and respected scholar and medical doctor. And, in spite of the fact that I am a Christian, with conservative beliefs, and even though I maintain my faith carefully focused on God, I do nevertheless give the accounts in this book some credence (along with its companion, written subsequently, "Life Beyond Death"). I invite you to read it and see why.
Excellent.......2005-12-19
This book is very objective, taking consideration of other peoples views, and disects near death experiences. It also focuses on various studies conducted on the subject of death. I'd highly recommend it.
I was expecting more, do I have to have an NDE?.......2004-02-09
The Light Beyond is a wonderful book, but so many people just focus on their own lessons they learned, which makes for an interesting story, but I am always looking for more - how does this apply to me? Do I have to have an NDE myself? I liked Tiffany Snow's book better, just one chapter about her great NDE, but the rest of it shows how anyone can open up, if they learn how. I'm not saying The Light Beyond is a bad book, really, but I guess I was just expecting more.
Good Book.......2004-02-04
I like this book - a great selection of information and experiences. This guy has been in the front lines for a long time. Other books worth the read - Tiffany Snow, and Betty Eadie. And Nathan Judd's new book, if you can find it. I'm a doctor. NDEs are real!
My Fav. NDE Books - I've Been There Too.......2004-01-01
One day in 1995 I died, and had a NDE. Ever since then, I've been reading everything I can on the subject. According to most stories I've read, I had an unusual one, not going down a tunnel, but experiencing many interesting phenomena all the same. It seems to me that there are some NDE books and magazine articles that are just hype, and published just to give recognition. I have found, through my many years and multitudes of books on the subject, that there is an underlining truth and spirit that pervades the true experiences. So, I have compiled a list of my best reads for NDE books - ones that I consider genuine and adding validating light to the personal NDE experience. I have left out compilations, these are personal narratives. I hope you enjoy them too.
