Book Description
Rodeos and Recipes - Real Stories and Delicious Recipes Even a Cowgirl Can Cook! is a book for the seasoned hand and those who wish they were. Telling the story of rodeo life from the behind-the-scenes perspective of a chute hand, it is filled with accounts of dangerous bulls, broncs with an attitude, favorite horses, the odd things a chute hand finds flattering, and more. Written by a chute hand and rodeo stock contractor, each true story is accompanied by a recipe that meets her standards of easy, delicious, hearty, and fast. The recipes are the kind you'll make again and again, such as Beefy Western Pie and Piled High Cow Chip Cookies. You'll also be delighted to find a selection of non-edible recipes such as Skull Cleaning in a Hurry for decorative cattle skulls, and Homemade Modeling Clay for the kids.
Customer Reviews:
Unique Combination!.......2004-06-08
Every one of Carpenter's stories were funny and interesting and the recipes were the easiest and best ever! Especially the chapter First Bull, Last Date was my personal favorite and the pie dough and cake recipes were the best ever! Easy and fast but delicious recipes! We want to see another one of these kinds of books and hope it will be a series!

Following is a quote, in part, from Western Horseman Magazine, November, 2003 Issue:
"The subtitle to 'Rodeos And Recipes' by Emma Carpenter says it all: 'Real stories and delicious recipes even a cowgirl can cook!' Each short chapter includes from one to four recipes and a brief essay revealing a behind-the-scenes aspect of the rodeo stock-contracting business...... 'Rodeos and Recipes' includes a few vintage black-and-white photos and the potential for a lot of good eating. It makes a great gift for any busy cook who'd rather be elsewhere than the kitchen." Bunkhouse Reviews, Western Horseman Magazine, November, 2003 issue

If your looking for a good cookbook, with fun, fast, and easy recipes, this is it. If your looking for some good cowboy and cowgirl stories to entertain you through the night, or to read to your kids before they go to bed, this is it! Any person with common sense would give this book an easy 5 stars, and will come back to it again and again. Highly Recomended!
