Album Network-01/25/00
Although a new name to most of us, Jill Cohn has already established an impressive following in the Northwest; the absence of Moving is her fourth CD (but first with her Seattle band). Coming from the same space as Sarah McLachlan, Tori Amos of even Joni Mitchell, Cohn creates an airy light style that's strong on vocals and has piercing lyrics and lovely melodies. There's a certain poppiness to her music, yet she leans more in a rootsy direction rather than urban crossover. Buzz Weekly wrote, "Cohn's lilting acoustic pop excursions are deeply personal and often heartstring-tugging."
Product Description
in Cohn's 4th CD and most receint release she hits the mark with an upbeat collecion of folk-pop songs that features her Seattle based band. The CD, "the absence of Moving" has lush arrangements complete with a string section, fiddle and even a concertina. Cohn produced this CD with arrangements from band mates Staskowski and Fulton. Reviewers are calling this CD "her strongest & sexiest effot yet".
