The 90's Suck and So Do You is the first Angry Samoans recording of the decade. Led by rock critic, guitarist, and singer "Metal" Mike Saunders, the revamped Samoans blast their way through eight new songs of pure power-pop punk. While the entire disc clocks in at only a shade over 13 minutes, it does contain several worthwhile moments. Grinding out sarcastic rockers like "I'd Rather Do the Dog" and "Letter from Uncle Sam," the Samoans play with enthusiasm and ability. "Suzy's a Loser" illustrates Saunders's unassuming voice as well his goofy sense of humor. "Beat Your Heart Out" is straight from the style of the Ramones, but not as good. The guitar playing is sharp, energetic, and totally in keeping with Saunders's semi-serious, punk-joke vision. --Mitch Myers
