Product Description
Kicked screaming and hollering out of the Lower East Side night in 1998 at the Continental Divide in NYC, Enough Already is the first "official" live Action Swingers album, and the type of vicious rock document rarely if ever found in 2004: ruthless, raw, skinned alive from a foot high stage. The true action swinger himself, Ned Hayden, has a reputation of being a real son of a bitch, and its true, and if he wasnt, this music wouldnt exist in fact, it COULDNT exist. Ask anyone how pleasant and accommodating the Stooges were back in early 1970s Detroit, or a Hollywood-banned Black Flag in the early 1980s South Bay, or Flipper taking no shit up in San Fran. Point taken. This kinda rock takes balls - not friends - and a mean streak as wide and uncompromising as it is pure and on target. The Action Swingers woodsheded a stripped down American garage rock and mainlined 1000ccs of pure early 80s hardcore adrenaline straight into its already aggressive heart. The result aint pretty, and it aint nice, a veritable briar patch of thickly chorded guitar fury. This set kicks off in a fit of feedback, then lurches into the fiery "Glad to Be Gone". From that point, without pause, Hayden and Co. slice and dice their way through 12 classics, from the dark and melodic "I Dont Wanna Be This Way" to the blistering hardcore of "Waiting for My Chance" to early rave-ups like "Kicked In the Head" (complete with a scathing, hilarious spoken intro!) Reptilian is proud to present Enough Already, the second Action Swingers disc for the label. Its the best, most consistent Action Swingers disc this side of the, never say die classic Decimation Blvd. 20-odd minutes of punk rock windshear. This set, newly unearthed by Hayden and shipped directly to the Reptilian Records compound (who else?), is short, direct, to the point, and beautiful. The sound is excellent, the playing is locknut tight (with ex-Vacant lot bass player Brett Wilder and original Decimation Blvd member Dave Lindsay on drums), and Neds voice is as charming as a broken bottle in a blender. Mastered by the busiest man on earth, Alan Douches, and featuring some bad-assed cover art by the acclaimed Hate/Neat Stuff artist Peter Bagge.
