About the Artist
Mainstream Alternative-Rock anthems rooted in "old school Pop" w/ a trace of current Modern Rock mixed in for good measure. That is the sound of the quickly rising Texas band, Supercell. Singer Jason Wheelington, guitarists Shannon Nedved and Mark Sims, bassist Nick Holmes and drummer Moonshine collectively meld together influences from Duran Duran, U2 and Bon Jovi to Our Lady Peace, Lost Prophets and Linkin Park.
Such a mixture of influences creates a truly original sound that will leave you yearning for more, as every show resonates with an intensity that leaves audiences hoarse, sweaty and smiling. Given Supercells propensity for such powerful live shows combined with the mass-market appeal of their infectious musical hooks, it is no wonder Supercell has shared the stage with major artists of multiple musical genres (Bowling for Soup, Evanescence, John Mellancamp, Sheryl Crow, Fuel, Something Corporate, Hoobastank, Three Days Grace and many others). Music reviewer Andrew Ellis, of Popmatters.com, says "Supercell could justifiably claim to be one of the best unsigned rock bands in the U.S., at the moment." Factor in the bands light-hearted attitude and on-air ease behind the microphone and its easy to see why they have become regular guests on KDGE 102.1 FMs "The Morning Edge" w/ Jagger & Julie.
With their 1st full length record released on April 12, 2005, which was Zac Maloy (The Nixons), as a follow up to their critically acclaimed GENERATION OF THE NUMB EP, many expect Supercell will soon be a staple on the American modern rock scene for some time. In the meantime, look for Supercell in theaters nationwide, as they have been handpicked by Academy Award winning Producer, Curt Johnson, to be included in the feature film "West Memphis Three" (2005), as well as the indie documentary Michael Moore Hates America (2004). So whether its a radio DJ, online fanzine or even an award-winning film producer, the buzz about Supercell keeps getting louder and louder.
