DANKO/FJELD/ANDERSEN is a collaboration in the fullest sense of the word, with each musician bringing high credentials as singer, songwriter, and solo performer. Andersen has made 18 albums, and his songs have been covered by a diverse bunch of performers including the Grateful Dead, Fairport Convention, Rick Nelson and Linda Ronstadt. Fjeld, a major figure in his native Norway, has 12 albums to his credit, ranging from acoustic solo performances to full-scale electric excursions. In 1990 his collaboration with poet Ole Paus earned him a gold record in Norway. Danko is well known as both a solo artist and as lead singer, bassist and acoustic guitarist for The Band, who initially gained notoriety back in 1965-66 when they backed Bob Dylan on his tumultuous first electric tours as The Hawks. As a solo performer and songwriter, Danko has collaborated with a wide array of artists including Paul Butterfield, Ron Wood, Eric Clapton, and Ringo Starr. Robert Palmer considers his vocal work with The Band "among the lasting glories of American music." Danko has continued to tour both as a solo artist and with The Band.
