There is a chance that there is no song in recent memory as sunny and summery as Ambershades' "Clap Clap Clap." The South London quintet has burst on the scene, just at the right time, with this wondrous debut single. The Beach Boys, psychedelic-era Beatles, Super Furry Animals and a certain '70s something something ("Stuck In The Middle With You" by Stealers Wheel, perhaps?) are all discernable in the sonic mix that is "Clap Clap Clap." The duo of Davey Lah and Ben Castle know their way around a tune, that's for sure. Bouncy keys, lilting strummed guitar and Davey's half-stoned delivery are the right pieces to form this pop puzzle. It's definitely the perfect song to listen to with an ice cold beer in the middle of a sunny park or the beach. Along with fellow likeminded bands The Thrills and Athlete, Ambershades is making the summer is a much brighter place. My kinda boys. Jack&Danny. 2005.
