Long after the much-vaunted East Coast scene sputtered out and the members of Sloan moved to Toronto, the Eric's Trip school of influence still continues to churn out offshoots and side projects. Orange Glass features members of Elevator to Hell and Eric's Trip, and Underwater Underground doesn't stray too far from the shoegazing power thrash of either group. Cramming 10 songs in 30 minutes, Orange Glass lurch from the My Bloody Valentine drone noise of "Eclipso" to the instrumental fuzz twang of "I'll Be Back," ending with a sprawling, epic ballad that starts off like a pop ballad and closes with a wall of noise. It's hardly revolutionary, but at top volume it sounds colossal. --Matt Galloway
