About the Artist
Overground Records is please to present their second project with the longest surviving punk band The Vibrators. As part of their 25th anniversary celebrations Epic have just released a compilation of their first two albums (Pure Mania & V2) but Overground have decided to take you back to where it all started by releasing a CD of two early concerts recorded at The Nashville and the 100 Club, two London venues inextricably linked with the early punk movement.
The first 18 tracks were recorded live at The Nashville 29th April 1977. This recently discovered tape shows the band playing to an enthusiastic sell-out crowd just after their Single Of The Week accolade in Sounds music paper. Apart from all the usual favourites is the previously unreleased medley of No Fun/Raw Power
The last six tracks are their set from that most famous of punk gigs - 100 Club Punk Festival 21st September 1976. These are the first recordings to be released by any band from the festival and was recorded by a friend on a cheap tape recorder, enhanced to listenable quality by modern mastering techniques. Of the six songs two are previously unreleased - Saw Her Standing There and 1969.
These two concerts are the only live recordings to be released with the original line-up of Knox, John Ellis, Eddie and Pat Collier. Shortly after The Nashville gig Pat Collier left to be replaced by Gary Tibbs.
