Product Description
The Celtic music of Silverhand provides an eclectic and satisfying journey into the realm of high-energy, Celtic Folk-Rock fusion encompassing traditional Irish and Scottish tunes and stunning original songs.
Taking their name from the legend of an ancient Irish king, Silverhand was founded in 1996 by Chris and Lisa Burbick. Their exciting, upbeat performances contribute to their popularity at local events such as Cave Junction's Concerts in the Park and the Blackberry Festival.
Since the outset, Silverhand has captured the hearts of Celtic music lovers of all ages throughout the region. In establishing and hosting the increasingly popular Bardic Night series in Grants Pass, Silverhand has also helped bring many talented musicians and songwriters into the local spotlight.
Silverhand's unique blend of traditional Irish and Scottish dance tunes combined with masterful compositions and mind-blowing original songs has made them a favorite throughout Southern Oregon. Creative instrumental harmonies and tight arrangements form Silverhand's trademark sound.
Silverhand is comprised of Chris Burbick on mandolin, Irish Bouzouki, electric guitar and vocals, Lisa Burbick, acoustic guitar, Doug Heydon, double bass and electric bass and Mike Fitch, drums and percussion. Chris, a multi-instrumentalist and the group's composer, is just as much at home on mandolin and Irish bouzouki (octave mandolin) as the guitar. Lisa adds the bright, rich sound of acoustic guitar with a bed of tightly woven original arrangements over which Chris' melodies and unusual left-hand ornamentations soar. Combined with a dynamic and versatile rhythm section, Silverhand is forging new inroads into the Celtic-fusion genre.
Superbly produced, their first release, entitled "Silverhand", on the Laughing Raven label, exquisitely captures all of the vibrancy and excitement that is causing a considerable buzz around this group and places them, firmly poised, on the verge of national recognition.
