Product Description
When the tine way-cool Seattle based label Sweet Mother Recordings inkede a deal with home-town rock label Sub Pop, it immediately delivered the well received "Sweet Mother: Free Activation Series Vol.1." Now Dragonflys Timestream solidifies Sweet Mothers position as one of the more intriguing purveyers of trip-hop. Co-producers Rob Stewart and Chris Anderson reveal a wide assortment of influences in their audio soundscapes, including hip-hop jazz, film score and sci-fi. However, the chilliness is offset by warm, fat bass lines and organic grooves. "Timestream Vortex" stands out for its lush broad textures and its Doors-like Farisa organ sounds especially playful. Just when you figure that Dragonflys a serious outfit comes the nasty, badass electrofunk track "Angel Dust." The poetic "Om" and "Another Day" both feature vocalist Om Johari in a similar vein of Vanessa Daou. This I heady stuff for your mind, body and soul.
