About the Artist
Illogic's influences were a combination of three things. Initially, we all grew up "writers" of "graf heads" or whatever name you choose to call us. Hip Hop became an addiction! We transcended into music, (but occasionally still rock burners!) Second, The EAST COAST rappers like METHOD MAN, REDMAN, ERIK SERMON, KRS-ONE, RUN-DMC, and NAS provided the lyrical inspiration for our projects. We always preferred the display of tight rhyming skills to the "shoot yo baby's mama while I sip on a 40," style. The third element of influence came from the WEST COAST and can mainly be attributed to DRE's beats. Nothing can rock a house like some of the beats DRE throws together, (damn DRE!) Of course, there are many other influences to our music, but these 3 are the main!
Illogic is extremely unique and it was purely unintentional. After being inspired by the influences listed above, Illogic created some music that was neither WEST nor EAST, but still had some elements of both. We like to consider ourselves "Imagists" because of the pictures you get in your mind when you here our music. We describe our style as "ILL LOGIC" and now you have the background to how we came up with the name! AERO 1's beats are definetly unique and like nothing you ever heard and LUCKY C and MOR LES provide nasty, lyrical fire-power to accent.
How are we different from the norm? Listen and find out! We appeal to almost everybody.
Product Description
This album contains 20 superb tracks! Retribution is the second album from Illogic. The vibe of this album is so unique that you will never hear anything close coming out of the industry! Illogic's Retribution mainly focuses on the lyrical side, but really and truly has it all! From superb bass pounding club anthems like "Allnighter," "July 16th," and "Basic Instinct" to truly dominant lyrical skill tracks like "MMD," "Interceptor," and "Steel Mill" to radio favorites "Beautiful Things," (featuring Shauntel) and "Serious." The diversity of this album leaves something for everyone to enjoy. Even if you are not a hardcore hip-hopper you will find tracks that are extremely appealing. "Set it Off," a club favorite, offers a house element to a hip-hop based track creating one of the strongest tracks on the album.
