About the Artist
Wordzs music looks with an amused eye at the hypocrisy of the world and the gap between what things are and what they claim to be. Songs off his debut LP titled "You Havent Heard Me Yet" such as "My Turn To Shine" or "No Recovery", expose the contradictions in beats, rhymes and life in general. He is a masterful rhymer, with rhythm, humor and passion, skewing all the sacred cows within reach. He isnt just pissed off or bitter either, Wordz is all about change. You could hear old school Nas dropped in his delivery. His lyrical content joins the conscience thoughts of Mos Def and KRS One. Wordz creates thought provoking stylism. "I desire to change culture with my music." Says Wordz. This ideology stems from his faith, as well as a book that has driven him called Roaring Lambs by the late Bob Briner. Wordz goes against the status quo and expects everyone who hears his music to follow. Wordz gets his stage credibility from doing shows at youth rallies, churches, in the streets and various open mics. (Double Door, Subterranean, Elbo room, Funky Buddha etc.) In 2000 Wordz began his solo career releasing a single called "The Mic Extremist" named after his often extreme views and personality. A suburban hip-hop record label, ReSERVED Records, began to take shape with a compilation titled "The ReSERVED Project. This gave Wordz his official introduction with a release on January 20th, 2001. Shortly after, ReSERVED Records released a 12" vinyl recording with the infamous cut "Instrumental" featuring Sev Statik of Tunnel Rats/Deepspace5 and "Re-served". "Instrumental" has reached #26 on the UndergroundHipHop.com top 40 charts and has received consistent airplay on most local college radio stations in Chicago such as WHPK, WNUR and WLUW. Wordz currently has dropped an 8 song EP titled "The Mic Extremist" with 1,000 copies floating around the Chicago land area and be! yond. His full-length album titled "You Haven't Heard Me Yet", released February 25th, 2003, is obviously making his statement. Wordz wants to tell you whats on his mind and youll either love him or leave him. He leaves the response up to you, but the world needs a hug and a slap in the face every once in a while.
