Back to Noel, he has brought us an album not to be lost or ignored...

Product Description
Sonom Records proudly presents the most recent release of Noel Zancanella, "A Fantasy for Electromagnetic Tape." This is the follow-up album of Noel's debut EP "Dynamic."

"Dynamic" was received with critical acclaim and forged a spot for Noel on radio play lists worldwide. Evidence of its' success and acceptance ranged from songs appearing on national television to a standard rotation spot on various radio programs like KCRW's "Chocolate City." Now, with the release of "A Fantasy for Electromagnetic Tape," the sounds of Noel Zancanella promise to make an even bigger impression on ears and minds around the world.

With a style that by definition cannot be defined, Noel Zancanella brings to the table an entrée for those with a more refined palette. "A Fantasy for Electromagnetic Tape" tests the limits of the industry by taking production and engineering processes in new directions.

Noel, a brilliant music producer from the Midwestern United States has taken to expressing his musical vision through the mediums of both live instrumentation and sampling technology. His desire to do more than just borrow, led Noel to a search for a certain sound. He found the sound in a carefully selected handful of vintage musical instruments and samples from records. Noel brings to your ears something that he likes to call "A Fantasy for Electromagnetic Tape."

The eight tracks of this succinct album are as distinct from one another as they are from everything else in the popular hip-hop industry. The first to grab your ear is, rightly so, the first track of the album, "Lovely." "Lovely" showcases the multi-faceted talents of the artist. With its haunting antiquities of sound, Noel pays a tribute to his father and the lasting impression that the ex-trumpet player left on his life. While not what one would consider a "hip-hop" track, it is nearly impossible to keep from moving your body to the smooth groove laid down behind a classic chorus from a Spanish trumpet.

As your ears peruse the album farther you come across something a little different. The third track, "Uno Impulso," brings to light Noel's ability to achieve a more organic sound. This means, Noel created most of what he sampled, using live instruments. On this track you can feel the bright sound of a little bit of old and new, filtered through Noel's creative vision. Complete with standard, tight, hip-hop style beats, "Uno Impulso" is a forecast of something to come.

Right after the halfway point of the album, a sound that is more familiar to the ears of the populace can be found in "Blue Countach." With the assistance of Surpass Flavor, Noel brings his original approach to music to meet a more classic hip-hop or rap formula. Here, the organic feel of the music is still a prominent feature but it is put down behind the smooth vocals of Surpass Flavor. "Blue Countach" is a personal song that can best be appreciated with a good pair of headphones and a little bit of privacy, much like the rest of this album.

This young artist takes pride in how he differs from the norm and aims to bring to the norm something new and fresh. "I wanted to reach back and find something new," Noel says while explaining where he feels he fits in the industry. After one listen to this new Album, it is apparent that he has succeeded. You will discover every time you play Noel's songs that what he is doing is finding something very fresh and personal in them. And oddly enough, that is what you'll be doing as well.
