On her debut album, self-proclaimed "voodoo queen" Anjali successfully manipulates and fuses a diverse range of musical and cultural influences, from hip-hop in "Ju Ju" to Bollywood in "Maharani 1." She creates a hybridized sound very much her own, with touches of slick production and organic Eastern instrumentation throughout. It would be easy to overenthuse about Anjali's musically descriptive style, but it is perhaps best to highlight two differently paced songs to her range and approach. "Feline Woman" is a dance-floor shaker, with heavy breaks and killer flute line, while "Astra" is a haunting, cinematic ballad with spellbinding strings and an equally enchanting vocal--both are wonderful examples of Anjali's thoroughly bewitching ways. --Amazon.co.uk
