About the Artist
Emerging from Florida, by way of Jamaica, Corps of Discovery takes you on a journey to the roots of Electronica. Just as the early American explorer, Lewis and Clarke, and the original Corps of Discovery navigated the Northwest Passage; this groundbreaking group sets a course through uncharted territory. Their newest release, Anima Manna, on the independent label, Our Music Records, rocks with trance-like rhythms of an excursion into the interior.
Product Description
Our Music Records is an independent electronic dance label featuring works by music producers and remixers based in South Florida. The label was founded by Dennis (Dr. Wiz) and Sarah (Czara) Weise in 1996 to provide a vehicle for distribution of CD recordings of their unique sound to loyal fans and new audiences. The label's initial CD release in 1996 under the title "Towards the One" was a joint release with the Eurock, a label for CD catalog orders into Europe. It featured an ambient vibe and was filed under New Age. Distribution North America (DNA), now Valley Recordings, also picked up this title for distribution in the U.S. The debut CD of Corps of Discovery in 1998 marked a change in direction for the label's sound. This title featured the underground jungle/drum and bass tracks produced by Dr. Wiz drawing from his Jamaican roots. The Canadian distributor, Pulse Soniq, picked up distribution for this release. Promotion for this release included a 1998 summer tour featuring performances at festivals in Ontario Canada, Miami's Winter Music Conference Our Music/Vice Magazine/Konkrete Jungle party at Club Zen and at Wetlands "Konkrete Jungle" in NYC, the nation's longest running jungle night. The label's catalog has grown over the last several years to include several 12" vinyl releases featuring South Florida music producers remixes of Dr. Wiz's original works. Current projects include the most recent CD release from Corps of Discovery entitled "Anima Manna". Promotion for this CD release includes a 2001 summer tour with performances scheduled in Chicago, Kalamazoo, and Toronto, Canada.
