About the Artist
Chicago, 1987. Themba Hasaan ran the streets so hard it earned him a feature role on CBS's "20th Century" special on gang violence, hosted by Mike Wallace. "At the time, the gang provided me with my own sense of control" says Hasaan. That was years ago. Now all that remains is the lesson learned and the bullet still lodged in his chest.
Themba packed his bags, moved from Chicago to New York, and hooked up with Daddy-O (of Stetsasonic fame). "I always wrote songs, and New York gave me the vessel of expression." After being cast in a TV commercial with Prince and Nona Gaye on non-violence, Themba began the recording of his first LP, "Breast-Fed" soon to be released in the States. The "Rhythm of the Universe" EP was born from these experimental sessions. The "Rhythm of the Universe" EP features mixes by Daddy-O, Andre Collins (The Warehouse, NYC), and the hit break beat remix of "New Horizon" by Shock jD (Grade 44)
