Editorial Reviews
From URB Magazine
Slam's Orde Meikle and Stuart McMillan present a very worthwhile snapshot of their own fluid mixing style as well as a sunny barometer of the current, global, deep house landscape. This double CD encompasses two mix sets and a grand total of 32 songs. With such a hefty track list it's extremely difficult to assure consistent quality, but Slam manages with a considered balance of contributions from well-known artists and tracks that were initially released in small quantities on smaller labels.

Well-known producers and remixers that appear here include Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, Derrick Carter, Chez Damier, Josh Wink & Li'l Louis and DJ Rolando aka the Aztec Mystic. But the excellent underground cuts like Mark Flash's "Timbales Calientes" or Onionz & Tony's "Frisco Beats" may yet enjoy sleeper anthem success due to their exposure on this strong collection. Meikle and McMillan's sole production contributions to the mix are in the form of Slam's classic "Positive Education" and "Can U Feel The Funk" (under the name Freelance Science). It's this relatively ego-less presentation, with the emphasis firmly on bringing other talented producers to light, that helps make Past Lessons/Future Theories a standout.
