Lorrie Morgan - The Color of Roses

Editorial Review:

There's still a lot of twang in Lorrie Morgan, but if this 75-minute concert, recorded in Nashville in 2001, is any indication, the comely singer wouldn't mind being linked stylistically with Diana Krall as well as Shania Twain. Among the 19 selections on The Color of Roses (released simultaneously on DVD, VHS, and CD) are a variety of songs that few would expect from a country artist, like the Carole King/Gerry Goffin classic "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" and such pop-jazz standards as "Fly Me to the Moon," "Good Morning Heartache," and "My Favorite Things." What's more, it's on those tunes that Morgan most distinguishes herself. The rest of her material, including hits like "Watch Me" and "What Part of No," is pretty much your standard modern country with a rock & roll edge, tame but all very professional. Sam Graham
