Funny, in a disturbing kinda of way.......2007-06-29

I found myself laughing where I should have been cringing and perhaps I shouldn't even be admitting to enjoying the movie (smile), but Pat was a well written comedy with thought provoking points hidden deep within the storyline... VERY DEEP.
For those who like pulp and cult fiction, this is a good one to add to your TBW (to be watched) list.

Worst Movie Made..........2006-03-05

This movie is an abomination of a film. How can people enjoy it? The whole thing was worse than a train wreck (pardon my cliche).
I saw it on TV a while back. I admit to being sucked into the mystery of Pat's gender. However, as soon as I googled it and found out that the truth was never revealed, I immediately turned the film off. There was no other incentive for me to keep watching.
The so-called "evolved" humour is nothing more than one lame joke. I actually cringed quite frequently at some of the gags, which were very immature and not funny in the least.
This film may appeal to adolescent males and permanent frat boys, but no one else. For anyone looking for a intellectually stimulating film, I would certainly not reccomend this one.

This is one of the the most greatest movies especially the scene where there's four guys questioning Pat whether it's a man or a woman. This movie is funny.

The film that broke all of the gender barriers.......2005-09-28

A memoriable film that soothes the heart and touches the soul. ITS PAT! is one of the first films to put a gender confused he/she into the spotlight. The only thing holding this movie back from the prestigious 5 star rating is the frusturation I felt after leaving the theatre... Alright you got me it went stright to VHS, but still i felt angry and confused while rewinding my copy of Its Pat.

A Great Collection.......2006-05-10

I always thought Boy George was weirder than he needed to be. He is difficult to explain to my 11 year old (I don't know what I'll do if he and Michael Jackson someday do a collaboration DVD).

Weirdness aside, Culture Club is one of my closet pleasures. I have to watch their videos when they are on.

I bought this DVD based on the reviews here.

It is GREAT DVD! EVERYTHING is good. You get the 17 videos and then you get a concert performance of most of the songs. Often I find concerts to be a disappointment (e.g., Queen's concerts have always been sonic letdowns to me compared to their studio masterpieces), but this concert is right up there with the CD recordings (so much so that I wonder if there's lip-sync going on), and is fun to watch.

So, if you are thinking about buying Culture Club, this is the one to start with.

I'd walk ten thousand miles to obtain this collection of greats.
This DVD is a must for the Culture Club / Pop Music fan. The sound is extreme to the degree of tears, this resoration is grand and over-the-top. The imagery is as clear as the blue sky. You'll find all these great moments in time preserved better than the originals. Such a great transfer.

Also note, the track / video listings are accurately chronological. "Do You Really..." starts off the fun and you're crying by the time "Cold Shoulder" fades to black..... I've always been a fan of accuracy when dealing with compilations. That's done to perfection here.

Special treats were "The Medal Song", "God Thank You Woman" and "Cold Shoulder". I'd not had the intense pleasure to view these gems until I purchased this DVD. I found myself "whisked" back to a time of great music and imagery. Some compositions just don't ever get dated.

The short interview session is a gem as well. To see the group interact in a mundane way makes the music that much more esoteric.

"A Kiss Across The Ocean.." is nicely transferred too. The sound and picture quality is superb.

Clutching to my lipstick traces, don't make Mistake No. 4, purchase this DVD for your 'spiritualtainment'.

Well Worth buying.......2006-02-19

Unlike some of the other reviewers here, I did not feel cheated by this and I actually enjoyed this DVD. Why? Because, if you actually took one second to notice that this was an unofficial product, then you would not expect the band to actually be interviewed. Although, there are some amusing clips of Brian, and rare photos of Placebo performing on stage, this DVD is more for fans wanting amusing stories about the band...something this documentry gives you plenty of. All of the people interviewed are very knowledgeable and most of them knew the members of Placebo on a personal level at one time or another and therefore can tell you things you otherwise would not have known about. Much better than most of the unofficial products out there, well worth buying!

a disappointment to any placebo fan.......2005-10-18

this was complete rubbish. it was like watching the worlds worst made true hollywood story. if you put together all the rare instances where you actually hear or see the band (hardly ever), youd get about 3 minutes. the rest is 2 scary looking guys talking about them. the music they use is terrible, its not even placebo. and then theres some silly girl on it talking about what she thinks of placebo. who cares? this dvd is the worst, i suggest that you never buy anything by the label Chrome Dreams, its always terrible.

Just Terrible. I was bored. I already knew all the information on the DVD. As a matter of fact, I didn't even finish watching it. That's how lame it was. It was just badly done. It made me want to cry that PLACEBO wasn't actually on the DVD. PLEASE, don't buy this. Go get something better with your money. This doesn't even deserve a 1.

I, like the rest of the reviewers, bought this DVD because I am a huge Placebo fan and it is extremely hard to find cool Placebo stuff in the U.S. I read some of the reviews and basically blew them off because I wanted to indulge in Placebo. I was a tad wrong.

This DVD is an unauthorized production meaning there is NO music or live performances of Placebo, which is terrible because that is why I like them for their music, not their image. The music which they got to play is the back ground was TERRIBLE!!! I was really hoping for a Pure Morning or Taste in Men to bust out but no. The DVD is basically a hour long bio-pic that is done with a cheesy british woman voice over and people who knew Placebo from way back when or people who have never even met them.

Sure some of the pictures are pretty cool. And I will say the three interviews of Brian were nice to see since us in the U.S. don't get to see any of that stuff.

What I also didn't like about the DVD was the fact that it was all based around Brian. Sure, Brian is a great front man, but Stef and Steve are apart of Placebo too. That's why they are a BAND not a solo act.

So if you are a new Placebo fan it might be a good buy to see how they became, but if not, you'll know basically everything said on the DVD. Before buying I'd do some research and read some reviews to see if it's worth you're money.

Because I am a H-core Placebo fan and I knew everything on the DVD, if I could go back, I probably wouldn't have boughten it.

I agree with the review above this one. I myself bought it just because it's Placebo-related and Placebo stuff are sort of rare, especially in the States. I had no high hopes for this DVD, so when I finally watched it, I wasn't too disappointed. Almost all of the "new" pictures are floating around the internet somewhere and very loyal fans probably already have said pictures taped on their walls. The interviews were somewhat amusing, but provided little to no new information on the band.

Mostly, you should decided if you want to buy it or not. I bought because I'm a fan of Placebo and knew that the DVD would turn out crappy.

If you're a new fan then you should buy the DVD, especially their other one, Once More With Feeling. You'll get a head start on pictures and grab a few fun facts about Placebo along the way.

Also, I'm kind of infuriated that they only had a picture of Brian Molko (frontman) on the DVD cover. It's a band, so where are Stefan and Steve?!

If you were an imaginative child..........2005-03-01

...you will really enjoy this movie. There is magic in this movie, and I mean the kind that moves you, not the kind that pulls rabbits from a hat. The performances are all wondefully rendered. Philip Spink has a propensity to cross the line of tolerable absurdity at times (the kid whose family owns the junkyard for example) but all in all, this film is great lesson in imagination.

The only bad thing is that the quality of the DVD is really bad. I taped this movie off of Starz! a couple years ago and the quality is actually better. The extras were nice (Spink and cast commenting on the movie). It seems to have been mastered from VHS and not from the original masters.

Still, this digital format is better than none.
