Like any good brand, the Rolling Stones know to preserve the formula even when updating the package, and this long-form concert video underscores that market strategy. As with each of their tours since the early '80s, the quartet, augmented by a discreet auxiliary of backup musicians, gives the fans new eye candy while dishing up a familiar set list spiked with Mick Jagger's lip-smacking vocals and Keith Richards's signature guitar riffs. The visual twists are at once spectacular and conservative: a cyclopean main stage design with massive pillars (presumably the Babylonian connection), a vast oval video screen (shades of Big Brother), and a hydraulic bridge enabling a midconcert sortie into the audience, with the Stones playing a more stripped-down, intimate set on a small satellite stage.

That huge physical setting doubtless made the live shows eye-filling rock spectacles, but the video crew necessarily accepts the limitations of the small screen, focusing more on close-ups of the band, rapid cuts, and racing, hand-held tracking shots to convey excitement while keeping the viewer close to the action. The evening's repertoire sticks to the band's most familiar hits, and if the Glimmer Twins occasionally slip their masks to let the routine show, the real wonder is how effectively they keep the playing focused. During the first half of the program, the band's newest songs (especially "Saint of Me" and "Out of Control") elicit conspicuously higher energy from the band, if not the audience. But just as the show seems doomed to a certain anomie, the escape onto the smaller, no-frills stage pumps up players and crowd alike, particularly when they launch into "Like a Rolling Stone," a cover that winds up sounding like a great idea too long deferred. --Sam Sutherland

5 out of 5 stars Superior Concert Video.......2006-10-31

This is by far the best concert video I own. The Stones were on top of their game at this St. Louis concert, soulful, bluesy, and rocking. The cameras stay on the band the whole time, unlike many current concert videos that seem to think the viewer wants to watch the audience. The sound is CD quality, the picture and color is vivid, the editing is tight. The highlight for me is Keith Richards' "I Wanna Hold You" and some incredible versions of many classics. The songs from the Bridges to Babylon album are excellent and it is funny how quickly some of them faded from the permanent repertoire. The fact of the matter is the Stones have enough excellent songs to do ten different concerts.

I highly recommend this DVD. It is superior to the Four Flicks, and a lot less expensive. Five Stars.

5 out of 5 stars Just hits and good performance.......2006-04-06

If you must buy one Rolling Stones DVD concert...you must choose this one; no doubts about that. Great artists performance and just hits on this. I'm a new Rolling Stones fan just because this DVD. Great value!

5 out of 5 stars Loved It!.......2006-02-25

Here you'll find Mick, Keith and the boys together with some "cool friends" doing what they do best. ROCK & ROLL!

They have the lovely & talented Lisa Fischer on backup vocals. She really used her "assets talents," all of them. Her voice hits all of those amazing notes that few singers will ever hope aproach.

The "really cool" Joshua Redmond joins in with his saxophone.

Lets not forget the inovative theatrics that we've come to expect from the Stones. The never disapoint me in that area. In this film they do actually cross "a bridge" to Babylon.

If you love the Stones and you love seeing them live or wish you could, this is a great way to see them!

All right, I admit it. I am a huge fan, (can't fool you) since the begining. I've spent more than I'll admit this year on concert Tickets, T-Shirts and DVD/CDs. Not to mention plane tickets!

3 out of 5 stars ok but not the best.......2006-02-24

this dvd is stones but not up to their best. any stones are great so since this is fairly inexpensive i might recommend it

4 out of 5 stars Captures high energy and party atmosphere........2006-01-01

This solid show has some great moments. The 10 minute Miss You version here is the best available, with the whole band acting like they never want it to end. Lisa Fischer, the awesome support singer, is in rare form as she and Mick bump and grind all over the stage. She gets in everybody's business on this one. Surprisingly, Miss You doesn't appear on Four Flicks. Neither does Its Only Rock and Roll, which is a highlight from the B-stage here. Also is a terrific Wild Horses duet with Dave Matthews and Dylan's Like a Rolling Stone-performed better here than on Stripped. Another highlight is Keith's I wanna Hold You, from Undercover. The sound is a slight step down from Four Flicks, but certainly great for when it was released. At the end we get a blazing Juming Jack Flash with Mick sporting cool shades and Keith and Ronnie weaving in and out like they're trying to outdo themselves. Lots of Fun!

5 out of 5 stars Blondie Live is for Real.......2007-03-08

This terrific live footage of Blondie shows the band playing a collection of songs from their first two albums, Blondie & Plastic Letters - it pre-dates their big success of Parallel Lines. Some punkers would say it shows the band at their peak. The production is raw but clean, and appears to be one long take, like what you would see if you saw them at a club. This is the ticket to see them that you might have missed back in '78! If you dig the NY punk scene, and/or small-stage rock'n roll performances in general, you will appreciate the performances Deborah Harry and the group provide in this video. It is a must-have for fans of Blondie. Not only that, it also gives a good view of a real band in it's early stages - my daughter and her friends who are into the garage band scene both as a musical genre (e.g., White Stripes, etc.), and to play for themselves, learned a lot about how a band can perform well and have presence on a small stage. Deborah Harry shows how it's done right. The performance is something like a Saturday Night Live performance from the old days. It is something completely different, and more real, than they see in videos on MTV and big-time rock productions (e.g., Rolling stones, Aerosmith, and other huge venue deals) - it's a performance that is not just good, but they can see themselves being able to try for themselves. Put this DVD on and set up for a party for any age group.

5 out of 5 stars Live 1978 - Blondie.......2006-07-24

This DVD of Blondie's original music videos brings back memories of the new wave scene in NYC. Fresh and original, they were and are still one of my favorite bands. Deborah Harry's clothing and hair styles were cool and fun to emulate and their music was heaven to dance to. Check it out!

4 out of 5 stars Second time around.......2006-07-07

If your an avid Blondie fan and/or DVD collector, then chances are you already own this DVD.

This is the same performance from the Beat Club (AKA. Musik Laden) that was released several years ago with a different cover and title: "The Best of the Beat Club live: Blondie"

Not the their best performance on DVD but great if your looking into early Blondie in their pre-hits era.

This DVD contains a few visually enternaining numbers...the music is pretty good considering Blondie weren't considered the best band live but they play it up in this one.

Very dated at almost 30 years ago but the sound and picture is exellent. From January 1978 supportign their Plastic Letters album that came out the next month.

So if your looking to fill your collection get it!

Blondie hit the stage on February 10, 1999 at New York's Town Hall for their first hometown gig in 17 years, kicking off their 1999 U.S. tour. Originally broadcast as a 45-minute special on VH-1, the DVD adds nearly 35 additional minutes to bring you the band's complete set from the historic show, along with a bonus video of "Nothing Is Real But The Girl".

5 out of 5 stars This is the best concert DVD I own........2006-11-15

Brief qualification is in order: While I am a Blondie fan, I am hardly their biggest fan, nor am I an expert on this group. I bought their first album on the Private Stock label in 1976 when I was 16, and loved it to death. When they became mega-famous is when I lost all interest (unfair on my part I know), only to have my love for the group rekindled when I heard "Atomic" on the radio for the first time. So I owned a few of their albums. That's my only qualification to write this review.

I currently own 3 Blondie concert DVDs and 1 on VHS tape. All have their good and bad points, but "Live 99" (this one) is my stand-out favorite. The audio isn't quite as good as the 2004 A&E DVD, but in my mind, the '99 concert just shines due to the whole being greater than the sum of its parts.

This DVD was shot using a good number of cameras. They're seemingly placed at every strategic position, and the editing is just wonderful. Nice pacing to the camera-switches, and the editor always chose the view I wanted to be looking at. In other words, I never found myself wishing for a better view. There are even a few distance shots from the audience perspective, including a nice balcony shot, giving you a good idea of what it might have been like to have been there. I've never seen Blondie live, but after seeing this, I'd give just about anything to do it now.

Let me get this out of the way. Blondie is a band. I fully realize that. But I cannot help singling out Deborah Harry for a moment. As a young man, I was never particularly attracted to the way she looked. She seemed a bit too made-up for my taste at the time. But either my tastes have changed, or she has. Because I must say that she is absolutely hypnotic and captivating here, in her appearance, attitude, body language, and voice. She was 54 when this was filmed, and is drop-dead gorgeous. She has never looked or sounded better, and there is some nice audience interaction. And every time she smiled, my heart flipped.

Enough of that.
Clem Burke is one of the best drummers around, and he's always been a rock-solid feature of the band as long as I can remember. Jimmy Destri is here too, which is very cool, as his keyboarding was a highlight of that original album I loved so much. Chris Stein does some nice guitar work, though I wish it could have been brought out a bit more in the audio. You can clearly hear his distinctive style, but it is somewhat buried from time to time. And I think Leigh Foxx (bass) and Paul Carbonara (guitar) have been around long enough that they could be made a part of the official band. It took some time for me to adjust to them being there, but after watching this DVD now over 20 times, the band wouldn't be the same without them. Carbonara does good work, with very nice leads, and Foxx plays a mean bass, and is even allowed a fairly lengthy bass solo during "Atomic".

And speaking of "Atomic", it's the climax of the set. The last song before the 2 encores. And it is played to perfection. I loved the studio version of this song already, but this extended live version is better yet.

Other highlights: * "Dreaming": The opener, gets the blood pumping.
* "Screaming Skin" didn't do much for me on the studio CD, but Harry really brings it to life here. Took me by surprise...Way out of proportion! Next to "Atomic", it's my favorite selection.
* "Shayla/Union City Blue": The entire band just floored me with this performance.
* "In The Flesh": Is Deborah Harry Marilyn Monroe reincarnated? It's easy to believe watching this. She's positively radiant.
* "Sunday Girl": See above.

Really, they do a beautiful job with every song here. If you're already a Blondie fan, you likely already own this. And if you're on the fence about which DVD to buy, I say look no further. I own maybe 50 total concert DVDs. This is my favorite. Bar none.

There is also an audio CD that comes with this set, which I pretty much ignored until just now, since I had assumed it was merely an audio transfer from the DVD. I was wrong. While the CD appears to have been recorded very near the same timeframe as the DVD, the setlist is slightly different, and the audio is completely different. A different concert, perhaps a few days before or after, if my ears are any judge.

This is a very good thing!
I didn't really need a straight DVD audio transfer anyway, since if I want to 'listen' to that, I'd just as soon pop the DVD in so I could see it too.
The audio on the CD is sometimes close to the DVD audio, but in other cases the arrangements of the songs are different, giving a completely different experience. And the sound is excellent!
No doubt about it: Given the choice between the DVD-only version, and this DVD/CD set, I'd recommend this set without reservation. The CD is really worth the minimal extra cost. I believe the CD was also released separately, so if you already have just the DVD alone, you should still be able to find the audio CD pretty easily--the jacket has the same artwork in case you run across it somewhere.

Originally performed and broadcast for A&E on May 7, 2004 from Manhattan's John Jay College, Blondie: Live by Request finds New York City's cherished punk-popsters older, rounder, and still in possession--if not always in complete control--of the fire needed for credible performances of classics like "Dreaming," "Rapture," "Call Me," and "Heart of Glass." The 2004 Blondie includes founders Deborah Harry, Chris Stein, and Clem Burke solidly backed by Paul Carbonara (guitar), Kevin Topping (keyboards), and Leigh Foxx (bass). The disc's 17 tracks comprise Blondie's biggest hits, with "Atomic" notably absent and four cuts from 2003's Curse of Blondie (including a touching tribute to Joey Ramone) holding their own against the tried and true. Harry remains her flamboyant self, compensating for a diminishing vocal range with fresh phrasings and boundless pizzazz. Lead guitarist Stein seems lost at times, while drummer Burke plays tighter than ever, cementing the songs with a mix of disco sass and punk fervor. Keep your remote handy: caller requests and the show's vapid emcee get old fast.

DVD sound is timbrally on target but dynamically compressed to within an inch of its life, but the mix breathes better in surround (Dolby or DTS) and it's easier on the ears in DTS. --Michael Mikesell

Deborah Harry and Blondie look and sound better than ever. Their new variations on their original tunes are terrific and their new stuff is awesome. Still a fan!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent.......2006-07-22

On this DVD Blondie out-rocks almost every band 1/3 their age. The performance is great and the sound is incredibly huge and powerful. Highly reccomended. (G-Lebo, sorry, but Debbie is not singing out of key anywhere...maybe you need a hearing aid.)

5 out of 5 stars I love Debbie Harry!.......2006-07-06

She is fab-u-lous in this video. The music is great, and the song selection (picked by fans) is awesome. Totally worth any price for a Blondie Fan!

3 out of 5 stars Debbie is out of tune.......2006-04-01

I saw this concert by TV and I was very dissappointed. Debbie sings out of tune almos all the time !!!!! The only reason why I give this DVD 3 stars is because Blondie is a legend and this is one of the few DVD of this great band.

4 out of 5 stars Great DVD by a great band.......2005-11-07

I had seen partials of this show on VH1 over the years, but never got to see the entire concert. I think it is great, and Debbie Harry's voice is in superb shape here. "Call Me," and "Heart of Glass," are highlights for me as well as "Maria." Her look wasn't too great, especially compared to how hot she was looking in 2004 on "Live by Request," but the band and her voice were top notch.
I also enjoyed having the bonus video of "Nothing is real but the girl." I had never seen that before. Overall, great DVD.

5 out of 5 stars Incredible concert.......2005-05-02

I've watched it a dozen times at least now.
Atmosphere, camera work and audio/video are great.
Band is tight and Debbie Harry is sexy and charismatic as ever.

Who doesn't love BLONDIE live!!! This is when they released the great album NO EXIT! It is great to see the band back in the buisness after taking nearly 17 years off. But they came back better than ever with songs like "Maria", "Nothing is Real But The Girl", "Screaming Skin", and "Forgive and Forget".

BLONDIE LIVE IS A MUST FOR ANY FAN!

Songs Include:
Dreaming
Hanging on the Telephone
Screaming Skin
Forgive and Forget
Shayla/Union City Blues
Sunday Girl
Maria
Call Me
Boom Boom in the Zoom Zoom Room
In the Flesh
Rapture
Rip Her to Shreds

Atomic
One Way or Another
Heart of Glass

4 out of 5 stars Nothing is Real about this Track Listing.......2005-01-24

Newer versions may have corrected the track listing which is where the the Product Details get their information, however the actual track listing on this DVD is as follows:

Introduction
Dreaming
Hanging on the Telephone
Screaming Skin
Forgive and Forget
Shayla/Union City Blues
Sunday School
Maria
Call Me
Boom Boom in the Zoom Zoom Room
In the Flesh
Rapture
Rip Her to Shreds
X-Offender
Atomic
One Way or Another
Heart of Glass

There is a bonus music video, there are song lyrics (for only 4 songs), there are photos (3) but no DVD-Rom features or web links that I can detect.

The DVD itself: this is very high-energy performance with a very hot Deborah Harry (litterly) working up a storm with her audience and she and the band largely succeed in showing that "you can go back". I was especially impressed with her handling Maria and the high vocals that are a part of that song. The band did great too reproducing the special sounds of that song.

On the subject of the band, I do think they played too loud at times. DB's vocals seem to get lost in places. The guitars are too lound IMO, although I can appreciate that may be meant to be part of the sound.

If you can handle the predominant 'product placement' of a certain radio station (this DVD should actually be lower in price then) you are in for great sound and visual experience. This is far better than the bootlegs I trade and you'll be directly supporting the band!

5 out of 5 stars Rock Legends Shine.......2003-01-09

Deborah Harry is blessed with the best set of vocals in rock music, bar none. Blondie's incredible artistic talent simply shines on this album. Clearly one of the best live recordings of any artist in history. Blondie who amassed 4 American and 5 Bristish #1 Singles 1979-1981, are still today one of the best producing hit machines of last 30 years. This album was recorded in anticaption of their 1999 album "No Exit", it was recorded in the promotional tour of "No Exit", which is why you have songs like the #1 European comeback smash "MARIA" and other tracks like "Forgive and Forget and Boom Boom in the Zoom Zoom Room", which are stellar album cuts, in fact I'm amazed their were not released as singles, they're just perfect pop songs. Blondie has always been known for their ability to make the perfect Pop Song, as evident in songs like "Heart of Glass", 'Call Me" and "Dreaming". This is a must buy, especially if your a fan of Deborah Harry or Blondie. Even in 2003, Blondie are still ALIVE and sounding great.

If you are a Blondie fan, this is a must. If you aren't a fan, watch this and you will be!

4 out of 5 stars GREAT VOICE-BUT MAN IS SHE WORN!.......2007-01-27

Voice was fine, band sounded great-audio fine. She did look like she was high on horse and MAN, WHAT A SPACE CADET! Hey Deb, when you put your shoes on-the toes go in first. About 10 minutes into the concert, she sweat like I did on my honeymoon. I have never written a review like this-a worn look, but great music. Maybe I should not NEEDLE her about her look. Maybe we should TRACK her progress in future concerts. I liked the music-but it still appeared to be kind of a JUNKIE concert.

4 out of 5 stars Minus one star for minus "The Tide is High".......2006-12-04

This was considered a reunion concert of sorts being it was Blondie's first U.S. show in about 17 years since disbanding in the early 80's. Upon the release of their reunion album, No Exit, in early 1999, Blondie deliver a top quality performace. What stands out most of all is witnessing how improved they sound as a live act compared to their heyday. Clem Burke plays heavy with this show, as he always has, but the whole band show a great chemistry playing together, while Debbie's voice has grown better with age-rich and smoky, but still carries the clear, pop vocals that marry sexuality and innocence. The exceptional performaces in this show are "Shayla," which then leads into an explosive version of "Union City Blue," also one of the best performances I've ever seen of "Rapture," followed by Harry emerged in her punk delivery of "Rip Her to Shreds." The audience is more than receptive and Blondie give thanks with an amazing encore consisting of "One Way Or Another," and "Heart of Glass." The set list is also packed with hits, but the track that seems totally out of place is in the middle by way of "Boom Boom in the Zoom Zoom Room," a dreary jazz number included on the No Exit album. The group really should have omitted this from the set list instead of sacrificing a more popular song.

5 out of 5 stars Top-notch and first-rate........2006-11-17

Since I got this DVD in the mail 2 weeks ago, I have watched it from beginning to end every single evening. That's 14 nights in a row. While I'm at work, I'm singing to myself songs from this performance, especially "Screaming Skin", which snuck up on me and surprised me how good it is. The entire performance is absolutely first-rate, and it's fun to watch this great group back together again. And Deborah Harry does appear to be slightly nervous at the beginning, but then she just flat-out blooms during the concert. She starts out in fine form, but around the time those sunglasses come off, she transforms into a lovely creature you can't take your eyes off, and her vocals are much stronger than I had anticipated. I cannot think of a better word for it: She blooms, right in front of your eyes.

The rest of the band is a pleasure to watch also, but Deborah Harry just steals the show. I never paid much attention to her before, mostly because I've never seen them live, and my exposure has been almost solely to the audio Blondie. Which was great, but I honestly never really realized how beautiful Deborah Harry is. And she's totally got the moves down. Try not to melt when she smiles.

Clem Burke: One of my two favorite drummers ever. Fast and creative, he never misses a beat and is a wonder to watch at work.
Chris Stein: A very laid-back kinda guy, his guitar work may not sound remarkable, but it is very distinctive, and is a basic factor in Blondie's sound.
Jimmy Destri: Also a distinctive sound on the keyboards, and as one of the founding members, had a hand in writing some of the great songs that made Blondie who they are.
Leigh Foxx: Great bass work, and a very nice solo.
Paul Carbonara: Solid guitarist, some great leads.

Video: 4:3 aspect ratio. Being as this was originally a television special, this is to be expected, as is the radio station logo that appears on the wall.
Very good quality. Nicely lit stage, and a relaxed editing job that puts you where you want to be. Some of these new concert videos coming out are edited so quickly, that they cause a headache, and won't let you focus. I'm happy to report that doesn't happen here. Video quality also excellent. Nice, clear picture. Also, special mention to the camera operators, as they knew exactly where to be at exactly the right time. Clearly professional work throughout.

Audio: Very good for a live concert, but not excellent. Nothing bothersome, but there were some very minor things. For instance, I'd have liked to hear Chris' guitar a bit better. And the rest of the instruments were hard to distinguish from each other. Deborah's voice, however, comes through loud and clear, as does Clem's drums.

Overall: A must-have if you're remotely interested in this band. Tonight will be the first night I have not watched it since I got it. On the other hand, maybe I'll wait another day...

5 out of 5 stars Maturity Explosion.......2006-02-03

This is, I would say, what every live concert should be. I was blown away from the very opening to the end. So was the entire audience. Deborah Harry is exploding! She has matured as a singer and performer. No one can deny that. The band has matured and sounds great, too. Awesom energy! The sound is tight, powerful, and very musical. The songs range from rock'n'roll to jazz. You can't expect this good music from a youngster band, NEVER. Deborah Harry, also an actress, is now no ordinary singer. She is a Queen who reigns the stage. You will know what I mean when you see this.

5 out of 5 stars BEST AND EARLIEST BLONDIE !!!!!.......2005-09-02

Incredible quality 30'footage from a german TV show in 1977 !!! Sound is excellent and picture too, only complaint is those horizontal bars sweeping the screen more often than not but thats an origin flaw and you won't notice them one you're into this exciting performance.Non punk reviewers might tell you this is Blondie at their ¨punkiest¨,well that's debatable;to my punk ears this is power pop/new vave with some rock n roll elements but I love it !! Debbie wears an olive green tank top and no bra !!! And she shakes pretty much if thats what you w...kers are wondering !

5 out of 5 stars Great Rare Footage!.......2003-08-12

The footage of Blondie on this video is great they were just starting out and were still more into the punk rock style. It's mostly their early songs that didn't become hits. The footage is raw and Debbie Harry is beautiful with lots of energy on stage. I wish it was a longer show but it's worth seeing if you want a look at the early Blondie. I also enjoyed the Blondie video collection on DVD that has alot of their early videos from the 70's!

5 out of 5 stars Rare and very needed for any Blondimaniac.......2002-02-27

I have seen this before and I can tell you it is rare and
fantastic. Considering you can't buy The Best of Blondie
on VHS anywhere, this definitely will fill a void.

5 out of 5 stars A perfect glimpse of early Blondie!.......2001-04-06

The footage on this video is in great condition. The audio and the video are crystal clear. This video is taken from the popular German television show "Musik Laden". Blondie is in top form and it's easy to see that at the time this was recorded that they were just getting started on what would be a great career. The best part of this video is that this is footage of Blondie in their earlier punk rock days. This is before they went pop, so it's a raw in your face style. Overall I was very happy that I got this tape and would recommend it to anyone interested in seeing what Blondie was really like in the early days.

5 out of 5 stars Vintage Blondie at its best.......2000-06-28

Debbie and the band show what they've got even before they made it big. True foreshadowing of this bands potential. Great tunes from Blondie's first two albums. Debbie's voice is strong and her performance is vintage Blondie.

5 out of 5 stars Plastic letters Promo.......2005-10-10

This performance was taken from a german tv show where blondie performed their original songs from their 1st and 2nd albums on January 1978. Not the most entertaining show but the songs are great and the band really hounds out the music. At one moment int he show Debbie harry tries to rally up the audience but to no avail. Sound is terrific and this show is worth buying just for the rare songs performed live.

5 out of 5 stars BLONDIE LIVE: THE EARLY DAYS.......2004-12-27

Blondie is performing from their first 2 albums; BLONDIE and PLASTIC LETTERS. We start out with "X offender", with Debbie wearing a tan jacket, green shirt, cammo shorts, and tan boots. Debbie hits the notes just perfect! The band sounds great and really tight! Debbie Harry is great to watch! Clem Burke is great on the drums! The band is full of energy and are top notch! Debbie has excellent vocal range! If you see a copy of this pick it up. It's hard to find these rare live performances. The songs are cool and the concert is fun to watch!

4 out of 5 stars Best live early Blondie.......2004-07-18

Apparently recorded between "Plastic Letters" and "Parallel Lines", the performances are of songs from their first two albums only, just before Blondie hit it big. Nigel Harrison and Frank Infante (listed as Frank Freak in the credits) have already joined the band, but since none of the songs come from "Parallel Lines" it is safe to assume that the video was recorded just after the second album.

If the period of Blondie's albums "Blondie" and "Plastic Letters" appeal to you, then you will probably enjoy this video. Not to reveal any surprises, but the performance is rawer and more "rocking" than on other Blondie live performances I have seen. The band seems to still be having fun at this point. If you own "Blondie's Greatest Video Hits" and you enjoyed the style and energy of the video for "X Offender", then you will probably like this video. One minor annoyance is the way the credits are superimposed over the band's performance on a couple of songs. Apparently this video was lifted from the final edit of a TV show appearance.

As this video seems to be getting harder and harder to find, it may become a rarity. At the time of this review, I know of no other live Blondie video that concentrates on their early material. A must for fans who prefer Blondie's early, more punk/new wave style to their the later disco/funk style.

4 out of 5 stars Great early Blondie DVD.......2002-09-17

This was previously availble on VHS as "Best of Musikladen" and features a 30 minute, live television performance that Blondie did for German TV in 1977, just before the release of their second album. Deb appears in a tank top with khaki overshirt, tan shorts & matching thigh boots. Good sound & picture quality. The band does songs from the first and second album, Deb shows lots of energy and is wilder than in her later incantations that are better remembered but less inspired. Some awkward moments, like the mic chord getting stuck under an amp with Deb yanking away in earnest, add to the early charm of this rare footage.

3 out of 5 stars early punk blondie.......2002-09-10

early concert from germany tv show, called musicladen.blondie is in fine form, playing songs from thier first titled abulms," blondie" and "plastic lettters". very raw at your face punk songs, long before thier " pop" sounding days, before " heart of glass" and "dreaming". early blondie in thier prime, at thier best! a must for any blondie collector/fan.
