Description
The ska-punk wave is starting to make its comeback, but the originators of the movement never went away. Reel Big Fish put the Orange County ska-punk movement of the 90's into the limelight, and 10 years later, they're still packing the venues with die-hard fans. This DVD highlights the band in their hometown setting. With an unheard-of performance length of close to two hours (!), this DVD will surely be a must-have in every music DVD collection. With extras like a band commentary, bonus footage, photo gallery and multi-angle options, this DVD will be hard to keep on the store shelves.

5 out of 5 stars Pretty Good Representation.......2006-01-17

I just saw these guys live last night at the Warfield Theater in San Francisco and the DVD is a good idea of what they were like live. They're vibrant, have alot of fun and have a great Ska sound going. They perform S.R. many times just like in the DVD and they comeback to do some favorites after a mini-intermission. This DVD is a great DVD to check out not only for it's music but the picture quality on it is outstanding.

3 out of 5 stars An Alright Representation of a Phenomenal Band.......2005-12-14

As another reviewer commented, the concert scene and the studio are two totally different settings. However, I think that it is not an issue which means that a ska/rock band must sound on stage like it does on its recording. Instead, the vibrant nature of the band is what must also shine forth on the stage. Their energy and true spirit for the music shows forth. In concert, Reel Big Fish does that superbly. My problem with this DVD is not in sound quality (though it is a little problematic at times -- due to the recording of the DVD) or instrumental execution. Instead, the concert itself does not capture that energy which RBF has when they come on stage at a live venue. It contains too many hijinks, which bog the concert down. However, it gives the watcher an introduction to RBF as a stage band (although in an older form, with different members than those currently in the band). It is for this reason that I still suggest it. The only caveat which I offer is this: Do not judge them as a band based on this alone. On CD ("Everything Sucks" excluded), the band is much cleaner sounding, as they should be. On stage, they are more vibrant than this concert offers. However, fans will enjoy the performance and other interested parties may find it intriguing also.

4 out of 5 stars Service review.......2005-10-07

the item and the service have been O.K.

I received the item several days before the foreseen date.

The only problem is that italian post service does not use the duoble address on the envelope, and it lives your invoices just any other postal invoice; anybody can find it interesting for himself and take away what you are wating for (and you payed for).

2 out of 5 stars Very Disappointing.......2004-08-05

This Live DVD serves as a prime example of the difference between studio work and a live concert situation. In contrast to their studio stuff, the horns are off rhythmically and in intonation most of the times, and the rhythm section is not grooving at all.

Since I really liked their studio CDs I was looking forward to seeing this DVD, and let me tell you, I was never so disappointed in a music DVD as I was in this one.

I am a musician myself, I play ska/reaggae and know what it's supposed to sound like. And that's why I will in the future stick to artists like The Skatalites and the The Slackers for the real thing!!
