4 out of 5 stars Great for slap improvement!.......2007-01-28

If you wan't to quickly improve your slap technique, this is for you!

This DVD will help you master basic techniques like slapping and popping as well as more advanced techniques like left hand slap and other cool funk techniques.

The DVD is well done, easy of use, you can jump from exercise to exercise quickly and follow the ''teacher'' with your booklet.

This is truly a great buy for anyone who wants to improve his slap bass techniques.

4 out of 5 stars Good Introduction for Slap Bass.......2006-09-01

This DVD cleared up alot of problems I was having trying to learn this style. After viewing this DVD many times, I feel I have a solid foundation in which to build on. I am by no means a super slap funk player, but I do have mucho more confidence going into grooves that require this style as a result of studying this DVD. I highly recommend it.

4 out of 5 stars Good for beginners.......2005-09-01

It is useful for beginners. It is not intended for experienced players, but I think it describes the basic techniques for beginers very well. Do not expect it will rocet your slap playing, but if you are just starting, it will give you very solid basic knowledge.

5 out of 5 stars not for Beavis.......2005-04-13

This is a solid well rounded guide to slap bass. It helped me in more than a few places that I was bogging down on. If you want to be a poser then concern yourself with looks. Take it at face value: study some examples, learn some technique, get some insight, and then move on from there.

1 out of 5 stars Slap Crap.......2005-03-19

This DVD is junk. The instructor is an uptight, vest wearing, theory-spouting, crap artist cum music nerd. He wears his bass way too high (at nipple level, with his little beer gut peering out underneath his bass - very cute if you like oafish men, but otherwise he just looks idiotic). This is a sure sign of a sad, uncool player who couldn't make it as a rockstar, so he became a nerd instead. Trying to slap with your whole forearm is completely stupid. Don't think from what I wrote that I dumped this DVD straight off, I gave it a few weeks to grow on me, but playing like this fool is just so damn uncomfortable and I find him so painfully annoying to watch and listen to.

If you are a music nerd and you have good money to throw after bad, then buy this DVD. If you want to learn to play slap, watch Flea's Adventures in Spontaneous Jamming and Technique for some inspiration (ie. the very basics) and then play your arm off until you figure it out yourself, you'll be better off. The money you save from not buying this DVD is better spent on your next set of strings.
