Shot in London during the 2000 world tour, Brutally Live showcases Alice Cooper doing what he's been doing better than anyone else over the past 25 years: turning a rock concert into a campy theatrical extravaganza. That he's old enough to be almost anyone in the audience's (grand?)father is quite beside the point. For Alice remains one of the few who knows that rock & roll should be fun, even if that means severed heads, gushing blood, and murdered babies. Even the fabled guillotine, from his heyday a quarter-century ago, makes an appearance. Alice also takes a shot at Marilyn Manson, Ozzy Osbourne, and Kiss by calling them "my undisciplined children."

Alice and his band rip through 105 minutes of some of his best-known songs, including "I'm 18," "No More Mr. Nice Guy," "Only Women Bleed," and the immortal anthem "School's Out," along with newer tunes like "Brutal Planet" and "Gimme" (also seen as a bonus video). The concert will surely satisfy Cooper fans, if not win him new ones; the DVD itself is a winner, with bludgeoning DTS and Dolby 5.0 Surround Sound and the choice of alternate camera angles on six of the 25 songs. --Kevin Filipski

5 out of 5 stars it rocks!!!!!.......2007-01-10

a great show from start to finish, well recorded and edited.sound quality is great and video is outstanding.a must for any cooper fan!

5 out of 5 stars Alice Cooper-Brutally Live.......2006-11-11

Love the DVD. And play the cd all the time. At home, at work, in the car.

5 out of 5 stars Brutal Alice Cooper.......2006-08-16

This is a great DVD. It's Alice Cooper doing his Brutal Planet concert. The stage set up is pretty cool. It looks like a possible near future after an apocolypse, with broken machinery scattered about on the floor. The show starts off with a man connected to electronics whose body is half missing, warning the crowd to leave before the ruler of this near future (Alice Cooper) arrives. Well Alice shows up and the crowd decides to stay. Alice Cooper is so talented on stage. He is able to do an old classic from the 70s right after a new song and is able to connect them together with his stage theatrics. This makes every song a part of the Brutal Planet theme. He always has a new style. But of course the classic guillotine shows up. There are plenty of songs on this concert and it was good to hear "Caught In A Dream", and "It's Hot Tonight". There are two versions of this DVD to purchase. One is just the concert and the other is the concert with a cd of the concert. There is also a video to the song "Gimme" on the DVD.

4 out of 5 stars Alice Rules!.......2006-01-03

Brutally Live is a recording of a concert form LaBatt's Apollo in Hammersmith, England on July 19th of 2000. Alot of the songs on here are from the album he is supporting, Brutal Planet. The songs are good but it is not the Alice I know and love. They are more nu-metal than anything. But this DVD has a bunch of hits too.

HIGHLIGHTS
Feed My Frankenstein
Ballad of Dwight Fry
No More Mr. Nice Guy
It's Hot Tonight
Caught In A Dream

LOW POINTS
Poison
Take It Like A Woman
Blow Me A Kiss

Overall, it's not a bad DVD. Fans of Alice will enjoy it. It also comes with a bonus cd which is just the concert minus some tracks.
