Recorded in late 1987, his hour-long concert documents a transitional period for Fleetwood Mac, with Lindsey Buckingham, their driving force, having left (until '97) that same year. It's a testament to Buckingham's role in the band that it took two guitarist-singers to replace him; but while Billy Burnette and Rick Vito are fine musicians with an abiding respect for the Mac legacy (they perform founding member Peter Green's "Oh Well" and "I Loved Another Woman"), this is a mostly lackluster affair, lacking Buckingham's fire and eccentric stage presence. Mainstays Mick Fleetwood and John McVie soldier on, as ever, with Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie still on hand as well, and Rumours-era tunes like "Dreams," "Don't Stop," and "The Chain" have a certain timeless appeal. But when a vest equipped with drum and percussion sounds is the highlight of the show (during Fleetwood's solo spot), you know you're not exactly witnessing history in the making. --Sam Graham

3 out of 5 stars Good but nothing special.......2005-12-10

This is a one hour video that was originally released on VHS. Like many of the DVD conversions from VHS, there are no extras on this DVD. The sound is in stereo only, with no 5.1 option. All you get is a menu of the songs. The video quality is pretty good, but not high definition digital video.

On the plus side, the filming of this concert is much better than most newer concert DVD's. Most new concert DVD's are poorly filmed for a quick and cheap release. On newer concert DVD's the camera is always moving around and never focuses on the correct person. This DVD does not suffer from those problems.

In this version of Fleetwood Mac, Rick Vito and Bill Burnette have replaced Lindsey Buckingham. They both look ridiculous in their eighties dress and haircuts. They remind me of the John Stamos character in the TV show, Full House (something my kids put me through in their growing years).

The performance is OK, but not one of Fleetwood Mac's best. It seems like the band is not quite comfortable with the old material.

I think the best and most interesting thing on this DVD is Rick Vito's Another Woman. It is a very good blues tune, that takes us back to Fleetwood Mac's roots (even though Vito has nothing to do with the group's roots).

World Turning is very good and energetic, and features Fleetwood's drum solo and various types of instruments. I always enjoyed his talking drum solo. I am not so sure about this newer innovation of the electronic drum vest.

The group also does the classic Fleetwood Mac song, Oh Well. It is nice to here it played again, but this isn't the greatest version of the song.

As video choices go, I would suggest getting the Dance or Live In Boston first.

5 out of 5 stars WHAT IS EVERYONE COMPLAINING ABOUT!!!!????.......2005-05-07

I think everyone who typed a review that said this is a bad show are CRAZY!!!!! I mean! Stevie looks beautiful and sings great through out the whole concert. Mick, John, and Christine do their thing and that's that! But to me I think Rick Vito and Billy Burnette are a little... I don't know. Weird I guess. I think they both flirt with Stevie a couple of times on this concert. That's just my opinion.
The Chain- Excellent! Stevie sounds great!!
Everywhere- I think this was recorded at one of their sound checks because the whole place looks empty. Other than that.. GREAT!
Dreams- I CANNOT BELIEVE SOME PEOPLE SAID THIS WAS THE WORST VERSION EVER!!! I THINK IT'S LIKE...THE BEST ACTUALLY!!!
Seven Wonders- I LOVE this version. It sounds so cool with the guitar at the beginning.
Isn't It Midnight- I LOVE THIS SONG! Everybody does a great job!
World Turning- AWESOME! I LOVE Mick's drum solo!
Little Lies- Someone said the back-up singers are off key. Actually their not! It's just when Christine sings there on the album she sounds different. I LOVE Billy's vocals on this!
Oh Well- LOVE IT! I do think it's interesting that Stevie is on stage though.
Gold Dust Woman- LOVE STEVIE'S VOCALS ON THIS ONE!!!!! TOO BAD SHE DOESN'T WEAR A GOLD SHAWL THOUGH.
I Loved Another Woman- First you all might be thinking that's not the song name! Yes it is actually! But the song is a little too slow for me.
Stand Back- Awesome! Stevie sings great!
Songbird- Chris always sings this song so well!
Don't Stop- You don't see them performing it but it sounds cool!
So don't listen to reviews! It's great this concert! Go buy it with Stevie's Live at Red Rocks if you don't have it already!

5 out of 5 stars Great show!.......2005-02-23

Stevie sings beautiful throughout this concert. Highlights of this DVD are the songs from the "Tango in the Night" album, like "Seven Wonders" and "Isn't It Midnight". These are the songs that were sadly missed during the last Fleetwood Mac tour. "Stand Back" is also really, really good. The best recorded live version of this song yet!

3 out of 5 stars Fairly average........2005-01-26

Filmed at the Cow Palace in San Francisco in 1987 when the Mac were touring in support of `Tango In The Night, this hour long concert suffers from over-production, thus losing the `live' feel unlike the Mirage tour '82 concert, Live In Boston and The Dance. Re-filmed close ups of Stevie Nicks will get on your nerves very quickly as has already been said in other reviews. But as poor as the visual side is , there is some real good music to be found. Rick Vito may lack Lindsey Buckingham's presence, but he fills in Lindsey's guitar parts very well, backed up by fellow newcomer Billy Burnette.
1. The Chain: A solid performance.
2. Everywhere: Great additional guitar parts but too many backstage/rehearsal shots and not enough of the actual performance.
3. Dreams: THE worst recorded performance of this song I have ever heard. Everything sucks. Camera angles, guitar , Stevie's voice and more.
4. Seven Wonders: Better on the album, Stevie's voice is really flat here. Apart from that , it's not bad.
5. Isn't It Midnight - definitely the highly of the concert. Christine's voice is really good, excellent guitar work, way better than the album version.
6. World Turning - tons better than Live In Boston, Rick and Billy shine here. Billy and Christine's vocal are spot on, and it features an interesting solo from Rick showcasing his slide guitar talent. Sadly, it then hits a brick wall with a long and pointless drum solo from Mick that drags on for ages and ruins the song. Advice: SKIP IT!
7. Little Lies : horrible . Album version is way better , Rick Vito does his best to salvage the song at the end, but it still doesn't cut it.
8. Oh Well : A very good rendition from Billy Burnette .
9. Gold Dust Woman: No real surprises. By the late 80's Stevie had lost her `Gold Dust Woman' electricity.
10. Another Woman: Rick's only lead vocal song on the DVD. He performs it to the best of his ability, but it gets dull fairly quickly.
11. Stand Back: Great intro despite a shaky synthesizer. Another great slide solo from Rick. One of the best recorded performances of the song, which is why it was put on their 1992 Box Set.
12. Songbird: Everything you'd expect. You only see a few shots of Christine actually performing it, the rest is just slow motion backstage shots.

The concert is worth buying just for The Chain, Isn't It Midnight and Stand Back. It would be so much better but for the grossly re-used stage shots and Nicks's close-ups. Oh yeah and you get to hear a shortened version of Don't Stop during the credits. A good buy for big fans .

4 out of 5 stars 4 stars only because Stevie Nicks is in it.......2004-09-11

First of all I would just like to say that this is not one of Fleetwood Mac's best performances. And let me just fill some of you confused people out there on something. It did not take two people to fill Lindsay's shoes!!! Have you ever heard of back up musicians?? Fleetwood Mac always has one or two extra guitarist who play in the back ground. Just look at the new "Live in Boston" DVD!!!

Stevie, who is usually always great looks like she was stoned through out the whole show and did not seem to have very much energy at all. You see a big changed in Stevie from this and her Live at Red Rocks dvd filmed just a year before this came out.
I did not mind the close ups of her. She is one of the best looking women on the planet even to this day. I thought it was funny how she changed clothes after almost every song.

Christen McVie was her usuall self. She just stands there at her keybord and sings avarage songs. She had the same outfit on through the whole thing by the way. The other bandmates were okay. Two new members did not impress me that much.

The Chain was okay. Stevie's voice really stood out in this.

Everywhere was way better in the Dance. Stevie again to the rescue, through in some of her own lyrics. With this song, they showed interesting sences from backstage.

This is the worst version of Dreams I have ever heard. What everyone else said about this song is true.

Seven Wonders was pretty good song. It was a little different live with extra music. I am glad it was on here, being one of the hits of the Tango In The Night Album.

Isn't It Midnight, Awesome! One of the best songs on the DVD I wish it sounded like this on cd. Christen shines on this one.

World Turning, Better on the Live in Boston DVD. I liked Stevie's little solo at the end.

Little Lies is a good song on cd, one of my favirots, but is a little boring hear.

Oh Well, This song was okay, not as good as Lindsay can do it.

Gold Dust Woman was great as alway different then on the Dance and Boston dvds. Disapointing how she did not wear her gold dust cape!! The only bad thing in this song vocally is the fact that she did not do her trade mark scream like she dose in Edge of Seventeen, I Can't Wait, or other version of this song

Another Woman, boring as hell never listen past the first minute!

The toned down version of Stand Back was great, I am glad they chose to do Stevies solo smash. The Live in Boston Version was way better though.

Songbird was nice, showing Christens soft side.

Don't Stop was played but was not seen, the credits were roling through it.

I think this DVD was worth it. I don't watch it as much as The Dance or the Live in Boston, both master peices. Fleetwood Mac soldered on with out Buckingham and now with McVie. It would be interesting to see what would happen with out Stevie Nicks, who has alway been the most popular member of this great band
