5 out of 5 stars Live brutality Superjoint style.......2005-11-12

Recorded at the revered (and since closed) CBGB's in New York, Superjoint Ritual is featured here at their brutal best. Frontman Phil Anselmo stalks around the stage and belts out his trademark roars and screams to a nicely assembled set list that equally balances songs from both Superjoint albums; "Use Once & Destroy" and "A Lethal Dose of American Hatred". Yes, Anselmo doesn't have the stage presence he had with Pantera, and his rantings can grow tiresome, but he's still the centerpiece of the band, and his vocal style and presence are still second to none, and the audience here agrees. The audio and video quality are surprisingly good, and there's a great interview with the band as well as videos for "Waiting for the Turning Point" and "Dress Like a Target". A few other extras would have been nice, but this DVD is a pretty sweet deal regardless. All in all, if you're a Superjoint Ritual fan, consider this a must own.

5 out of 5 stars Anything Phil touches turns to gold..........2005-05-20

This DVD is awesome! The concert is very similar to the one I went to in Colorado. The show at Ecks Saloon was much sweatier, hard core and in your face but the DVD is a great example of that. Get this only if you are a hardcore Phil H Anselmo fan and if you like SJR.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome.......2005-03-14

I just bought this today, and I loved every single moment of it. The two bonus videos for Dress Like A Target and Waiting For The Turning Point are very cool as well. A must have for true headbangers. Thanks Phil. Superjoint Ritual rules all!

5 out of 5 stars One of the Best Live Performances Ever Put to DVD!.......2005-03-11

I can honestly say that even being a fan of mainly black metal like Burzum, Nokturnal Mortum, and Emperor, and being a huge fan of bands like Summoning, I'm still a metalhead at heart. I still have room for the mercyless pummeling of savage and ruthless live performances, and SJR fill that space perfectly.

After 2 albums, and already 1 DVD, these grungy metalheads hailing from the South decided to take the camera to the widely renowned CBGB's in New York. Now, you may think that isn't a big deal for a band like SJR, but it is the PERFECT live setting for a punk-laced, hardcore-laden metal band such as Superjoint. The atmosphere presents a true unity between the fans and musicians, especially with the stage-diving, enthusiasm, and all-around aggressive performance.

The setlist is perfectly executed, and have an equal share of songs from both albums. The sound is amazing, every instrument can be heard clearly. The camera angles capture all band members very well, and the quality itself is very clear. Kudos to the cameraman for braving a small venue, and a death-trap of a moshpit! Phil's interaction with the crowd is also quite shocking. You would think he would have a rockstar attitude, but he welcomes the audience to jump on stage and interact with the band. His vocals lean toward more of the style of high screams used on "Use Once and Destroy". He runs out of breath a few times throughout, and seems to struggle at times, but if I rocked as hard as he does on stage, I would as well! The highlights are "Personal Insult", "One Song/Ozena", "The Alcoholik", and "Stealing a Page or Two.."

The bonus features include videos of "Dress Like a Target" and "Waiting for the Turning Point", and an exclusive interview with the band, offering quite an insight with some funny moments. I would reccommend this DVD to all SJR fans, or to anyone who wants an in-your-face live performance.

5 out of 5 stars Utter Perfection.......2005-02-21

This DVD not only gives you KILLER live footage of a sick band thrashing out (except phil due to his back, which is understandable) and the fans loving every minute of it. Now see, here is where I see philosophyfan (above/below me) as an either confused, moronic, or lying fool, on the DVD are two music videos. Waiting for the turning point, and dress like a target (which is a trippy video, felt like i was on acid after watching it.) also there are interviews, letting you see the band up close and personal (i do warn you alot of it is phil, but amuzing none the less for what you learn about him.) All in all i give this DVD five stars and pray for a third SuperJoint album altho phil said he was going to disappear, due to Dimebag R.I.P.
