A live concert filmed at Dublin's Point Theatre in 1997, Gael Force features Ireland's best performers in front of an enthusiastic audience. Paced for variety, the show mixes traditional acts such as the Chieftains and Christy Moore with contemporary acts such as Clannad and Sinead O'Connor. Other top artists include Frances Black, De Dannan, Altan, and Clannad. There's even a bit of dancing, most notably from the multitalented family Leahy, who leave their instruments to hard-shoe up a storm. Among the highlights are sisters Frances Black and Mary Black performing their respective signature numbers, "All the Lies That You Told Me" and "Song for Ireland." The artists occasionally share the stage, such as De Dannan with Mary Black, Maura O'Connell, Eleanor Shanley, and Tommy Fleming for "Hard Times," and Brian Kennedy with Clannad for "In a Lifetime." O'Connor sings her "Thank You for Hearing Me," then later closes the program with a stark "She Moved Through the Fair" that will stop you in your tracks. --David Horiuchi

Chill Out, Man. It's A Teaser.......2006-10-13
People need to take a chill pill who keep giving this movie and others like it a bad rating. This movie and others like it are what they are and that's TEASERS. If you want hardcore you know where to go, stop giving softcore such bad ratings. If you love to watch sexy women doing anything from great to silly things, or you just love to watch women, these softcores are it. If you want hardcore go to the video store, sattlelite or cable providers. Teasers are great. So just sit back, relax, chill out and enjoy watching women doing... stuff... great or silly.
It's amazingly silly!.......2006-01-15
Sometimes so called "video productions" of this type is so bad, that it's even interesting and funny. Not this one! The cheapest, silliest, stupidest thing I ever saw. Good packaging, though! I am sure it sales. Don't bother - just throw your money in the garbage - same effect.
mildly funny, but not much erotic.......2005-07-11
This film is mildly enjoyable as a spoof of Lord of the Rings, but as an erotic film it's incredibly tame. I was surprised how little nudity is in it since it's played up as being such a sexy film. Since that's got to be the reason a lot of people watch it, why in the world did the producers not have some of the sexy babes who are in it romp around topless or totally in the buff through most of the film??? If you buy it to see such titillation, you'll find yourself mostly waiting for a few brief flashes every now and then. I think the overall low production values, such as the poor acting, also work against it being much erotic. So if you're getting this to watch in a mixed group or as a LOTR spoof it's OK, but forget about getting it for any kind of erotic turn-on.
Hits the G-Spot!.......2005-04-15
Obviously, "Lord of the G-Strings" is an enjoyable spoof on "Lord of The Rings", and a pretty well-done one at that, considering the usual in this genre. The actresses are gorgeous, the film is essentially surrounded in beauty, though the dialogue is predictably weak, as is the acting, but it is all in good fun, after all. "Schmirnoff" The Wizard is a likable goofball, the Orcs here called "Dorcs" are a bumbling lot, "Dildo Saggins" takes the place of Bilbo Boggins as an enchanting girl who possesses the omnipotent G-String which must be destroyed lest it be captured by "Sourasse", who's primary weaponry consists of his deadly sulphurus emanations, battles Schmirnoff in the end. Accompanying Dildo throughout "Diddle Earth" are two lovely "Throbbit" companions who routinely pleasure each other in a lesbian lust-fest at every opportunity, although the most remarkable scenes have to be the orgy beside the camp-fire {which lasts a generous amount of time, accompanied with Middle-Eastern music which was a really great touch}, and in the pub with a very randy waitress redhead. The resident Dryad seems to be misplaced, and the two faeries are annoying until they join in the fun.
Towards the conclusion of the film, it unfortunately takes a steep direction with the inclusion of a cell-phone and a really lazy effort at the celebration by all present. The main thrust of this presentation is Lesbianism, with only one man/woman scene, although it is very entertaining nonetheless.
Eye candy all around.
For those Who Thought Lord of The Rings was too Geeky.......2005-02-04
Come on. You got the "one g-string" Who doesn't like hot naked people in a very funny porn parody of LOTR. This is great. Plus you got hottie hot hottie Misty Mundae. She likes to do things. Can't let the erotic-y g-string fall onto the bodies of evildoers can you? This is on every time we get a free weekend of Cinemax of HBO on out sattellite. I think this is the movie that sells people to buy HBO. Fun and sexy.

Worth seeing for Christy Moore's performance alone!.......2005-05-16
I just loved this - wonderful introduction to some of Ireland's greats. I agree with the other reviewers who asked, "When's part 2 coming out?" Would love to have Altan and the Corrs grace the stage, as well! Some songs in Irish would be wonderful, too! BUY THIS!! You won't regret it.
A treasure!.......2004-07-16
This is probably the first time I rented a DVD and absolutely HAD to buy it (in fact, I almost told Netflix I'd broken it and paid the fine!). Incredible music, fantastic staging, and a much broader variety that might be expected. Highlights for me included The Chieftains (always!), De Dannan, Mary Black, and the incredible grouping singing "Hard Times," my favorite track on the DVD. If you enjoy Irish music, or just good music in general, this is a must-have!
Pioneering Irish Music into the DVD generation.......2003-03-27
Failte! This DVD and producers need all the encouragement they can get for DVD as a new and better format for Irish Music. The music represented here is a wide cross section of styles. From traditional Irish Folk Music to Rock and Roll to World Fusion, this DVD has it all. If your taste in music is on the wild side, you have the Afro Celt Sound System playing world fusion music (Whirlygig). This includes an African Djembe player and an African Harp player. If you taste is traditional Irish, you have the everlasting Cheiftains in an opening dance number. Mix wild and traditional, and you have a frantically fast paced fiddle tune from Ashely McIsaak with Kevin Coneff smokin' on the Bodhran for back up rhythm. You see the equally everlasting and reincarnated De Dannan playing the Donnegal Reels. If you want to see why the Irish have a reputation for singers, there is an overpowering foursome (including my favorite, Mary Black) doing "Hard Times Will Come No More." Nomos, one of the most undiscovered bands outside of Ireland, does "Set You Free," with the talented young bodhran player, Frank Torpey, demonstrating his innovative new style. Did you know that Gaelic culture extends to Spain? This is your chance to see a Spanish Celtic Music Band Play. Altan shows up on stage with Tommy Hayes playing bodhran to one of the famous husband-wife, twin fiddle lead songs. Other DVD's to check out are "The Cheiftains Through Ireland" and "Solas." There are rumors of a Dervish DVD to come out soon of a recent concert. If producers want to keep putting Irish Music on DVD's, especially traditional Irish Music, I will be eager to keep buying them. I play along and VHS tapes wear out while DVD's do not. Slan!
So Much from So Little.......2002-12-05
Ireland is such a small island to put out the world's best music and best influenced music as its people moved about this world. Most all the groups are very traditional along with some new touches and thank goodness no U2, sorry. The almighty Chieftains play MC to this Gale Force concert and play with a few of the acts such as Leahy, these brothers and sisters of instruments & dance will blow you away as will Ashley MacIsaac's fiddle playing & kick- thank you Canada. Sharon Shannon's accordion and band is like Irish jazz and Altan never fail to amaze me. Stop me now or I will keep going! Yes it is too bad that Natalie MacMaster, The Saw Doctors, Young Dubliners and several other greats are missing, I guess we need a Gaelic Woodstock for this, but there is more than enough here for a great concert. I have the DVD and its 5.1 DD sound is all that it is supposed to be and the camera work is perfect as well. If you are looking for a very well rounded Gaelic Concert with a touch of newness then you've got it in Gale Force, find out where America got its foundation for its country music. Now, where is part two!? I also recommend The Chieftains DVD "Water from the Well", see great shots of Ireland and great music from all facets. See these old but young at musical heart guys play in churches, bars, civic halls, etc.; this is not a concert but all the songs are played live in whole in-between great words of wisdom. Hope this helps you out.
Brilliant!.......2002-11-08
I ordered this mainly for the Mary Black performance of "Song for Ireland," but I have to tell you, there are so many high points, from Christy Moore's rendition of "Hills of Donegal" straight through to Sinead O'Connor's "He Moved Through the Fair," that it's useless to try to point them all out.
Order it...sit back...and enjoy!
(Only thing missing was Ireland's greatest rock group, "The Saw Doctors!")
