Editorial Review:
Description
Collin Raye Live At Billy Bob's Texas is sated with hits performed at a level of energy that left the audience, if not Collin himself, emotionally and physically exhausted. Whether it's a holy calling or a simple desire to entertain, Collin Raye says "What drives me is what this music means to people." Collin is known for selecting socially conscious songs and turning them into hits. With top singles like "Not That Different," "Little Rock," "Love, Me," and "I Think About You," this artist has a way of choosing songs that contain powerful lyrics and touching his fans in different aspects of their lives. His fans have engraved lyrics on gravestones, they have become inspired to seek help at Al-Anon, they have become more aware of domestic/spousal violence and have even used his songs in their wedding ceremonies. He finds reward more in his fan's actions than from actual music awards."My Kind Of Girl," "On The Verge," and "That's My Story" are proof that he also enjoys performing kick-up-your-heels-feel-good songs. He is one of the few country artists that have been able to perform and balance these varied themes. Collin says, "Music can do a lot of different things for people. And that's the key - knowing that music can work on even the simplest level. That's just as important sometimes, to give people the chance to just forget everything and have a good time." Collin Raye Live At Billy Bob's Texas confirms that Collin does hold the key to making you feel his music and his passion, which is essential for any successful country artist - and any country music fan. Features; My Kind Of Girl, I Want You Bad (and That Ain't Good), I Can Still Feel You, Someone You Used To Know, Not That Different, On The Verge, Anyone Else, Little Red Rodeo, Somebody Else's Moon, Every Second, That Was A River, That's My Story, One Boy, One Girl, I Think About You, If I Were You, The Gift, Dreaming My Dreams With You, Gypsy Honeymoon, Little Rock, And I Love You So, In This Life, World History 101, Battle Hymn of The Republic, I Saw Her Standing There, Rock 'N' Roll, Love, Me

Amazon product description clearly states "closed captions" My disc, as r'cvd, had no CC or subtitles. It's a great disc visually but for someone with a partial hearing loss it's like buying a car and then discovering that the transmission is missing. I have given it a way. Apparently, the producers of this disc are arrogant cretins who are totally un-aware that about half the population of the world has some degree of hearing loss. I certaninly won't be buying anything produced by Rick Smith & Associates.
Thanks!........ It just can't get better than this........2006-08-05
Finally! A great production of the Hag in Concert. The sound quality is riveting as this tight band backs the Hag with the perfection of a NY symphony. I notice a few new faces in this group of Strangers. The new drummer is incredible, I would have liked to see a stronger lead guitar but hey, long time band leader Norm Hamlet has put another great bunch together here. The entrance of the beautiful and talented Janie Fricke singing back-up on a couple numbers was pure bonus. I watch this and all my concerts on a 65" HDTV and this example has risen to the top of my pile. Better lighting would have produced better skin tones, but hey.....we must remnember we are at Live at Billy Bobs, not in a TV studio. The Hag will always be immortal especially with productions like this. Buy this one! You will truly enjoy.
Merle Haggard...One of Country Music's Greatest.......2005-08-31
This is a great DVD..If you love Merle, you will enjoy this one..He performs 21 songs..I enjoyed them all.
I wish they had a DVD of the CD show........2005-07-02
When I bought this ,I assumed it was the video of the Billy Bob's live CD.While this is a good show, the other was one of my favorites of Merle's .He had a great guitar player on the CD,on this video Merle plays guitar.Hag can really sing and write, but as a guitar player he should hire that out. But, back to the subject, this video is great quality, sound and visualy. There are two familiar faces ,Norm on steel and old what's his name on horns. The last time is saw a Hag concert,he had a pickup band, which was great,Merle played guitar quite a bit,but a better picker was playing second guitar.I doubt we will see the great bands he carried back in the eighties.Merle Haggard doesn't have to prove anything to anyone ,he sings as well now as ever ,and still writes goods songs.Buy it,you'll like it.
Great DVD.......2005-03-08
Most folks agree that George Jones is the GREATEST LIVING COUNTRY SINGER, but on his "Live at Billy Bob's Texas" DVD Merle Haggard proves he's a close second. (And he can really play that guitar too.) What a great show!

David Allan Coe's annual performances at Billy Bob's Texas draw fans of all ages, and this enjoyable concert finds the singer-songwriter acknowledging his diverse audience with frequent references to old pals (Waylon Jennings) and new (Kid Rock). Coe's set even includes Jennings's concert staple, "Storms Never Last," and a pair of simple boogie shuffles that Coe (with apparent pride) co-wrote with Rock. Memory, and overbearing self-lionizing, are key to Coe's show. That strategy has a downside: There's a suite of six or seven songs (including "Nothin' to Lose" and "When I Was a Young Man") that amounts to a bluesman's bragging rights. Much better are the shattering "Heaven Only Knows" and "Lay My Money Down," which breaks Coe's lean, country-rock monotony with welcome bluegrass textures. Coe's "Take This Job and Shove It," a massive hit for Johnny Paycheck, becomes more than a novelty song in its composer's hands. --Tom Keogh

Totally AWESOME from beginning to end. Be sure to add this one to your collection you will not be disappointed. We have watched it several times and it is always entertaining.
Great.......2005-09-23
If you are a DAC fan you gotta have this. Just wished that when they mixed it the lead guitar had more volume.
The best music DVD I own........2004-07-27
I have about 40 music DVDs, including rock, country, bluegrass and blues. This one is the best. I have watched this DVD (according to DAC it means Drunk Very Drunk) about 20 times in the last five months. The music is great and the crowd is so into it. They know the words to the songs and just when to hoot, holler, gesticulate, etc. I envy those who were at that show. David Allan Coe is in top form here. I love all the name dropping. DAC is obviously a very smart guy who knows exactly what he is doing as a showman, and of course as a songwriter. (I bet there are incidences where people have underestimated his shrewdness to their own detriment.) The most important comment I could make to a potential buyer is that it's a real cultural thing. People of a narrow city-folk mind probably won't get it. Too bad for them. The last two tracks alone are worth the five star rating...and that's just for the shock value they provide. A note worthy of mention is about the production quality of this DVD. The camera work is very good, the editing is superb, and the sound (especially the DTS soundtrack) is outstanding. Hat's off the David Allan Coe and to Billy Bob's Texas.
if this aint country...........2004-01-17
This is a great DVD and if you love real Country you should get this now! DAC is a performer like no other and the interview segment is riveting!

if you like tanya tucker, you will love this dvd tanya live singing all her hit's and more at the famous billy bob's fort worth texas, as good as being in the audiance [well nearly]worth a purchase
a true entertainer.......2007-04-10
This is a most for anyone who enjoys being entertained.Tucker is without a doubt the best entertainer out there. She performs every song with all she has. This dvd will show just how underated she is.Tanya could cough and sound better than the new so called singers out there. The sad part is they cut out most of Tanyas humorous remarks.
She's Back!.......2006-11-10
Live at Billy Bob's was very entertaining. I have always liked Tanya's type of music. This show was lively and she did all her old songs. I will definitely be watching this on again and again.
Tanya Can Still Get It On!!!.......2006-08-27
Age may have slowed down the party girl somewhat, but she can still perform with the best of 'em. We can only hope she makes MORE concert CDs. WOW!!! You go girl!!!!
Caught Up In A Wirlwind By The Beautiful and Talented Texas Tornado!!.......2006-07-19
I grew up listening to Tanya Tucker thanks to my dads x-wife. For the first three years of my life "DELTA DAWN" and many others were drilled into my head daily. I got the chance to see Tanya perform at the New York State Fair back in the 80's. And she was awesome then as she is now!! I was at least 2-3 people, behind Tanya giving an interview for a local TV station here in New York. She was at that time holding her baby girl, Presley Tanita. I remember she had a headband with a bow on Presley's head. Many may not know, but it was Tanya's sister LaCosta that was supposed to have the biggest country career. Although LaCosta does sing, she's not reccognized as well as her sister Tanya. But during that 80's show I saw.. Tanya brought her sister LaCosta. I remember she sang at least a couple of songs. One was "Ashes Of Love." The old Johnny and Jack bluegrass song. And it was good!! I've seen "TUCKERVILLE" on TV many times. And have had several of her CD's throughout my 36 yrs. All I can say is Keep on a rockin' girl!! 5 stars for a job well done on a fabulous career!!

Description
Marking the 25th recording for the brand, Smith Music Group is proud to present Willie Nelson Live At Billy Bob's Texas on CD and DVD. It is everything a milestone should be. (def. mile stone n. An important event. a turning point). Born in Abbott, Texas, Willie began performing when he was four and was encouraged by his grandparents to learn musical instruments. Willie opted for guitar and his sister Bobbie chose piano. He began writing songs when he was seven and later penned the Patsy Cline standard "Crazy," Faron Young's "Hello Walls," Billy Walker's "Funny How Time Slips Away" all hitting the Top 40 charts. This musical icon's career has helped shape the sound of country music. Throughout the 1960's, he recorded a series of minor hits, leading to his "outlaw country" image in the early 70's. In the mid-70's, Willie reached superstar status when he released the cross-over hit single "Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain". Making his jump to the big screen, he recorded his signature song "On The Road Again" for the film Honeysuckle Rose. The next few decades teamed him up with many diverse partners including -- fellow country outlaw, Waylon Jennings; Latino pop star, Julio Iglesias; The Highwaymen, Waylon, Kris Kristofferson and Johnny Cash; Electric Horseman, Robert Redford; fellow Farm Aid founders, Neil Young and John Mellencamp; and of course, the IRS. With over 100 albums, months and months of touring, year after year, Willie Nelson has crossed all cultural and socio-economic lines. Recorded in October 2003, at a two-month's-ahead-sold-out-show, Willie Nelson Live At Billy Bob's Texas. Here's your ticket.
Customer Reviews:
Uninspired Performance.......2007-04-23
I love Willie Nelson, but this was a terribly disappointing live performance. Nelson and his band sleepwalk through their greatest hits, looking bored and uninterested. Nelson doesn't even sing some of the songs, he just speaks the lyrics. It's as if he's sung these songs a thousand times and can't bear to do it again.
But the lack of energy is just one of the reasons to be disappointed. Some of the instruments and some of the singing are out of tune. The sound quality of the recording is not that good either.
I'd walk ten miles in a snowstorm to see Willie play live. But if you're looking for a Willie Nelson DVD or CD, there are much better choices available.
Willie Needs To Try Harder.......2006-12-22
Willie just doesn't want to hit the high notes any more so sings in a flat style - disappointing. It's been the same now for several of his live efforts - I should've learnt a long time ago.
What a waste.......2006-02-22
This is probably the worst DVD I ever bought! Nelson doesn't sing the songs, he just talks them and seems to have no energy at all!
A little disappointing.......2005-10-14
I'm a huge Willie fan but this performance just didn't do it for me. The best description that my husband and I could come up with is that Willie and his band seemed "tired".
Don't Miss It!.......2004-07-05
Willie has been recording since the '50s. Here's a chance to see Willie performing at home in Texas. Willie is very underrated as a lead guitarist, and here you'll get to see Willie demonstrating his chops on "Trigger," his old guitar. This DVD has every classic Willie Nelson song you could hope to hear. The DVD has DTS sound, and the "bonus" interviews are interesting as band members recount their life on the road. This is essential Texas country music.

Description
Miles And Miles Of Texas, Get Your Kicks On Route 66; One Six Pack To Go; Hang Up My Spurs And Saddle; Don't Fence Me In. Ray Benson (Ray Benson Siefert, born March 16, 1951), Lucky Oceans and Leroy Preston were really just three alterna-culture refugees when they landed in Paw Paw, W. Va., in the summer of 1969. Their plan was to form a real live Western swing band influenced by the likes of fellow-gonzo-swinger Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen. After drifting through Washington, D.C., and San Francisco, the band (which got its record deal when Van Morrison raved about them in Rolling Stone) landed in heart of Bob Wills country: Austin, Texas, in the early '70s. With its fondness for jazz, blues, rock and country, the band was an instant hit with the same folks who embraced Willie Nelson and the rest of the Outlaws. The band only scored one Top 10 country hit -- 1975's "The Letter That Johnny Walker Read" -- but has collected eight Grammys since then. In addition to two-all star Bob Wills tributes in the '90s, the ensemble offered a concept album Asleep at the Wheel Remembers the Alamo in 2003. Also that year, Benson (the only remaining founding member) released his first solo album, Beyond Time, which earned two Grammy nominations.
Customer Reviews:
The best of the band's contemporary live show.......2006-05-13
This DVD celebrates the best of Asleep at the Wheel's contemporary live show. This newer version of the band is not as strong as the classic version, as seen in the "In Concert" DVD. That written, the viewer would hardly know that this is anything less than Asleep at the Wheel in their prime given the actual songs selected and the performance quality. The band plays plenty of Asleep at the Wheel standards like 'Route 66,' 'Boogie Back to Texas' and 'Take Me Back to Tulsa.' Beyond such time tested tunes, newer choices keep the setlist fresh like 'One Six Pack to Go,' 'Ain't Nobody Here But Us Chickens,' 'Don't Fence Me In,' and 'Cotton Eyed Joe.' Indeed, it must have taken enormous restraint to omit 'Cherokee Maiden.' Ray Benson's charisma is in high gear and Jason Roberts' songs are always welcome. Despite these glowing assets, there are drawbacks. While it was a great idea to have a bilingual musician work in the Tex-Mex influence, Haydn Vitera was clearly the wrong man for the job. He takes second fiddle literally and figuratively as his voice and personality never fit the band. The only saving grace is that compared to the band's regular shows, he only sings one tune for this DVD. Also, double fiddles are a staple of Western Swing -why double steel guitars? There is no Speedy West and Jimmy Bryant type interaction here, Asleep at the Wheel employs two musicians to do one person's job. Granted, these are minor issues. Beyond drawbacks and benefits, we are spared from hearing any of the cheesy songs from the "Alamo" album and better yet the audience is saved from hearing Ray Benson's corny crooner material. In this respect, the omitted songs strengthen "Live at Bill Bob's Texas" as much as the high quality material that is included. I'd like to award this 4 + 1/2 stars since the Ohne Filter "In Concert" DVD is better; the sound and video production made me bump this up to five instead of knocking it down to four. This is a great Alseep at the Wheel concert, watch it and enjoy!
GREAT MUSIC ,FUN TO WATCH.......2004-11-03
The newest incarnation of ATTW is the best yet!The picture and sound are first rate. The performance by the band is fantastic, with the front man Ray Benson just stealing the show with his great voice and stage presence.Musically, these guys are talented and together, with fantastic arrangements of classic
country western songs and a few Ray originals. My favorites are the Cindy Walker songs Your from Texas, and You don,t know me.
Other greats,Amarillo by morning, sung by the awesome lead fiddle player Jason Roberts and a rousing redition of Cotton eyed Joe.Western swing fans will be thrilled by this one!

Collin is known for selecting socially conscious songs and turning them into hits. Features; My Kind Of Girl, I Want You Bad (and That Ain't Good), I Can Still Feel You, Someone You Used To Know, Not That Different, On The Verge, Anyone Else, Little Red Rodeo, Somebody Else's Moon, Every Second, That Was A River, That's My Story, One Boy, One Girl, I Think About You, If I Were You, The Gift, Dreaming My Dreams With You, Gypsy Honeymoon, Little Rock, And I Love You So, In This Life, World History 101, Battle Hymn of The Republic, I Saw Her Standing There, Rock 'N' Roll, Love, Me
Customer Reviews:
I'd give it 10 stars if I could!!!.......2004-12-06
This DVD is amazing! Very energetic show from Collin, as always. (Much to the liking of Garth on his upbeat songs) A collection of 26 songs, including his tribute to the troops, *World History 101*. Most of his hits are on here, as well as many others. He rocks the house, truly ROCKS the house, with the Encore, where he returns to perform *I Saw Her Standing There* (A Beatles song), and Rock N' Roll (A Led Zeppelin rocker). He finally closes the show with Love Me, while signing autographs. Also has a Photo Gallery, and several interviews with Collin. This is a must if you are a fan of him, or just a country music fan in general. Much much better than most would expect!
Collin Raye at his best!.......2004-09-19
My wife & I are big Collin Raye fans. He's one of the best country singers today. This concert is wonderful but be warned. About half of the songs are shortened. Some are just 1 verse & the chorus. I'm not sure whose idea this was. We would have gladly paid extra for a 2 DVD set to get the full versions of the songs or less tracks on 1 disc, but full versions. This has 26 tracks plus bonus material on 1 disc. His comments on the music industry are so true. This DVD is definitely worth the money & we highly recommend it!
Collin Raye -Live.......2004-09-11
Collin Raye in top form.
A pity most songs not complete versions, but it's non-stop and a must for all Collin Raye fans.
Good value for money.
Don't bother with the CD just get this.

Description
Led by Larry Gatlin, the Gatlin Brothers are one of the most popular country groups in the music's history. Adopting the close harmony vocal techniques of the Louvins and the Everlys to the highly polished country-pop era, Larry and the Gatlin Brothers scored a number of hits during the '70s and '80s. Often, the group walked the line between intricate, inventive country and pure commercial material, which resulted in strong sales. Throughout the '80s, the Gatlin Brothers ran up a string of 15 Top 40 hits, including "Houston (Means I'm One Day Closer to You)," "Denver," "The Lady Takes the Cowboy Everytime," and "She Used to Be Somebody's Baby."

Should have stuck to the old saying 'you only get what you pay for'. this dvd should be entitled HIGHLIGHTS OF THE GATLIN BROS AT BILLY BOBS, TEXAS. Approximately 20 minutes of veiwing time, six songs only, virtually no banter included from Larry Gatlin. Sound and picture quality ok but doesn't appear to be up to the standard of other 'live from billy bobs' shows I have in my collection.I should have spent the extra 10 dollars and purchased the other concert listed. The problem is and I'm sure other purchasers have come across it on many occasions, the lack of information given e.g. track listings, length of concert, etc. I for one would probably purchase far more items if I could be sure of exactly what I was getting for my money.

Description

To describe that what you got with this dvd was disappointingly brief would be litotes of hyperbolic proportions.

Description
Collin Raye first attracted Nashville's attention as the lead vocalist on a string of independent singles in the 1980s. Billed as The Wrays, the act released a couple of singles on Mercury Records in the mid-80s before breaking up. Epic Records signed Raye as a solo act in 1990. A year later, the nostalgic ballad "Love, Me" hit No. 1, and by 2000, he charted 21 Top 10 hits for Epic. His first four studio albums, as well as his Greatest Hits, have been certified platinum. His best-known hits include "Little Rock," about a recovering alcoholic, and "I Think About You," about watching his teenage daughter grow up.
