Galways mates the Saw Doctors play for an appreciative, hometown audience on this spirited concert disc, which includes a lengthy, entertaining documentary about the group's tour in summer 2003, featuring a stop in Brooklyn, New York. The Saw Doctors are one of those bands that sound like a little bit of a lot of other artists yet no one in particular. Thus "Red Cortina" and "Same Oul' Town" have an early Springsteen and the E Street Band feel, while "I Useta Lover" resurrects the chummy lunacy of the Faces during the Stewart-Lane-Wood era. "Tommy K" is a country stew popular with the crowd, "I'll Be on My Way" is a fun, raise-your-glass number with Jamaican flavoring, and "Joyce County Ceili Band" proves a show-stopper with added fiddle, accordion, and washboard. For the heretically minded, the Doctors in this house have a raunchy little ditty about going to confession, "Bless Me Father." --Tom Keogh

4 out of 5 stars Davy and Leo and their back-up band.......2004-04-09

The Saw Doctors are the best band to ever come out of Ireland. Unfortunately I have to agree with two points made by other reviewers. One is that the camera work is over done and becomes a distraction, and the other is the absence of Pearse, their longtime bassist.

They sound great and it is nice to have a Saw Doctors concert captured on film, I only wished they'd done it a little earlier in their careers and had someone film it, who didn't have to be so flashy with the camera work.

5 out of 5 stars THE DOCTORS ARE IN THE HOUSE!.......2004-03-15

If you only listen to a Saw Doctors studio CD, you'll hear very good music, but if you experience a LIVE Saw Doctors performance, you'll see and hear GREAT music! This DVD does it right, and boy do the Docs deliver!! A wonderful collection of songs from the opening, N-17 with Davy Carton's laughin lead vocals, to the rousing Joyce Country Ceili Band jam, to the always house-rockin Hay Wrap finale, this puts you in the house with the Doctors!!
