Iron Butterfly still Rockin' and Rollin'!!! Only two original members are present,but it's still great!!!.......2007-03-18

Okay,there only two original members(bassist Lee Dorman & drummer Ron Bushy)of the band on this great "live in concert" DVD,but thats alright,because they sound great even with the two new recruits!!! Includes "Iron Butterfly Theme","Easy Rider",Butterfly Bleu" and of course thier immortal anthem "In A Gadda Da Vida"(complete with a spectacular drum solo by Ron Bushy)!!! A bit on the short side(about 50 minutes) but still great!!! Rock on Iron Butterfly!!! Two thumbs up!!! Five stars!!! A+

Hippie Retro.......2007-01-10

Ina Gadda da vida has always been one of my favourite pieces of rock music, so it was great to get a live performance of this song. Some of the band members have of course changed but they all played the music with much relish and skill, and time has made them even better musicians. I also enjoyed the other tracks which had a great blues beat. I was bemused at the 'hippie' clothing but then they were very much a part of that era. I am glad I purchased this DVD

Don't destroy your memories.......2005-11-12

Some bands are best left as nice memories. I was a fan of Iron Butterfly and thought that METAMORPHISIS was a great album.After that album the band took on two new guitar players and started to sound like a handful of other less talented bands of the era.(Maybe they underestimated the input of guitarist Erik Braun who passed away last year). The band disintegrated into a faceless "who cares" band.
If you were a fan of the early Butterfly, this DVD will disappoint you greatly. What we get here is original members Ron Bushy and Lee Dorman with two guys who don't play or sound anything like Doug Ingle and Erik Braun. This sounds like an average bar band jamming on Iron Butterfly songs. (As an example: Part of the bands sound was based around the tone of Doug's Vox Continental organ. This new keyboard player uses a Hammond B3 set up to sound like Keith Emerson and sounds nothing like Doug vocally.)
If you want to get a taste of this DVD get the LEGENDS OF ROCK AND ROLL-LIVE AT ITCHYCOO PARK. It contains one song (In-A-Gada-Da-Veda) from this concert and is good sampler of other bands on the same show. At least you will hear some really good perforamnces from Mark Farner (Grand Funk Railraod), Styx, Steppenwolf and others. You'll know why you don't want to see the full Iron Butterfly performance.
