The year is 2004 and she's on tour in support of the Tim Armstrong co-written Try This. The Grammy Award-winning "Trouble"-maker emerges from a cage dressed in black, sporting a fuchsia mohawk—an homage to the Rancid front man, perhaps--and silver lipstick. It can only be Alecia Moore, better known as Pink, and there will be more costume changes to come, including a tiger suit for "Welcome to the Jungle" (Guns N' Roses). These 27 selections, all drawn from her 62-city European excursion, are not designed for delicate constitutions as Pink doesn't mince words and suggestive moves accompany some songs, like "Lady Marmalade" (Labelle), in which she romps with blow-up dolls and back-up dancers (in the spirit of the Moulin Rouge video with Christine Aguilera, Mya, and Li'l Kim). The rest of the material is drawn primarily from her first three albums, including Can't Take Me Home and M!ssundaztood. She also throws in a few more covers, like Beck's "Feel Good Time" (Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle) and a black and white Janis Joplin medley: "Summertime," "Me and Bobby McGee," and "Piece of My Heart." Highlights include a poignant "Family Album," anthemic "God is a DJ," and revealing mini-documentary On the Road With Pink. For those who like rock, soul, swagger, and balladry, Live in Europe has your name written all over it--in pink ink, of course. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

5 out of 5 stars Great Concert!!! High Energy viewing dvd........2007-05-06

Explicit? Yes. For children under the age of 16? Probably not. This is one of the best concert dvds that I have purchased not only because of the quality of the music tracks, but the great video quality as well. I especially enjoyed the get up and dance drum beats, quality voice work and overall fun factor in watching this concert. It looked like Pink was having fun and the energy she shows on stage is really contagious to the audience.

Unlike some dvd concerts I have bought, this one has a good mix of close-ups, full stage shots and wide arena pans. Yes the editing can be fast for some upbeat tracks but it's not enough of a distraction. MTV A.D.D. people like me will appreciate the vivid post editing work, but is not to "artsy" with other imagery thrown in. It's all about Pink and the very electric 90 minutes or so. Just remember to have an open mind when viewing some of the very risque clips.

4 out of 5 stars Great DVD, great concert........2007-02-24

P!nk is a great performer and really separates herself in my mind, from all the other female artist in her age group with this DVD. Great artistry, stage presence and of course singing. My only complaint is the quick cut nature of most of the editing. Frankly some of it looks like it was edited by a Reeses monkey on ten cups of coffee. Also, be aware of the sexual nature of much of the visual content as well as some explicit language. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. Just mentioning it FYI. P!nk, her back-up dancers, and the two female members of her band, are beautiful and sexy. That's the main reason I found the sometimes hyper editing to be bothersome.
If you've liked any of P!inks music or just appreciate fantastic live singing and commanding stage presence you'll love this show. During the last encore she performs some aerial acrobatics that left me slack-jawed. I had no idea she was that athletic, and it's little wonder that she saved it for the end of the show (just in case), and when she sits down with just her guitarist for a medley of Janis Joplin tunes you know you're witnessing something special.

1 out of 5 stars unwatchable and unlistenable.......2006-12-17

not worth the free shipping I spent on this, it seems like a mean unfun, not happy sort of concert and dvd singing is bad, lyrics bad, dancing poor If you want good Female/dance sort of dvd with some joy in it buy the new Gwen Stefane dvd

4 out of 5 stars Great gift for a Pink fan.......2006-11-06

I purchased this concert DVD as a gift for my daughter, who is s HUGE Pink fan. She would probably give it 5 stars, but I found the video and sound quality mediocre. The performance was great, classic Pink, energetic and in-your-face,which is why three generations of women in my family love her.

5 out of 5 stars From Europe to my living room.......2006-08-21

It was unfortunate to learn that Pink's third tour was not making it to my city but I love the fact that I can now feel as though I was there with this DVD. Not only did she perform her new tracks from the third CD but she did plenty of songs from her previous albums as well as some awesome covers that I've never heard before. Also, the performances, choreography and set was the most creative I've seen from her!

For Doors completists only, this shapeless gathering of rare film clips of the band performing in Europe is hampered by the same old, frustrating problems with attempting to convey, through lousy camera work, the band's power as a live act. The packaging tells us the Doors swept through London, Stockholm, Frankfurt, and Amsterdam during a 1968 tour documented here, but there's no way to appreciate that save for a random clip or two of Jim Morrison milling about outside concert venues, talking with fans. Otherwise, we see the same sort of obfuscating on-stage close-ups of Morrison you can see in any footage of a Doors gig, stumbling around, crooning, and reciting poetry to minimalist accompaniment by Ray Manzarek on keyboards, John Densmore on drums, and Robby Krieger on guitar. Unless one can see, in the mind's eye, what the band is up to from the point of view of a kid in the 30th row, there's no way to really get the hypnotic, Dionysian effect for which the Doors were justifiably famous. Thus, for anyone who can imagine such a thing, or take it on faith, there's good reason to enjoy performances of "Spanish Caravan," "Five to One," and two versions of "Light My Fire." There's even a relic of pre-MTV, pop promotion: a silly-looking performance of "Hello, I Love You" shot before a baffled crowd on a London street. --Tom Keogh

1 out of 5 stars Don't bother.......2007-01-09

You have to be a real fan to find anything positive with this DVD. It reminded me of my home movies from grade school.. It was in black and white for the most part and the sound quality was terrible !!!!

1 out of 5 stars Don't Buy This, Rent It.......2006-12-21

The song list for this DVD is misleading. The first "Light My Fire" picks up midway, "Hello, I Love You" is the video of Jim singing in the street, cut with some footage of him messing around with fans, and "Alabama Song" is played over a few still shots/photos and the credits. The Jefferson Airplane commentary is boring and completely useless in terms of teaching anything, or even just being entertaining. I suspect the Jefferson Airplane interview was included because, without it, this DVD would only run about 45 minutes. If you are looking for a good concert DVD of the Doors, this is not it. Live at the Hollywood Bowl is the best. Don't take my word for it. Rent it and see for yourself.

4 out of 5 stars Doors - 'Live In Europe,1968' (Eagle Vision) Running time:58 minutes.......2006-04-15

Had this documentary been in color,I'd have given it a five-star rating.I've heard other fan's comments on this DVD and personally I didn't really think the camera work/angling was ALL that bad.Not for a 1968 production, anyway.Paul and Grace of Jefferson Airplane pops in several times to narrate the concert film.Enjoyed seeing Jim Morrison's onstage antics, energy and the way he interacts with the crowd.Best songs performed were "Light My Fire",the boot stomper "Back Door Man","Spanish Caravan","Unknown Soldier" and "Five To One".A should-have for most Doors fans.

5 out of 5 stars Makes you think back to those times..........2006-03-03

Though I have enjoyed the Doors music over the last 40 years, this is the first glimpse I have had into what this group was really like. It seems odd that some of the best music comes from those whose lives are in the worst of turmoil. It appears that Morrison was a very talented addict who was lucky enough to be surrounded by an extremely talented band. Considering the subject matter, the disc was well done and the sound was much better than I would have thought possible from old recordings. My high rating is for the quality of the disc and the accurate presentation of the material.

5 out of 5 stars Incrdible Doors DVD!!.......2006-02-22

Firts off I would like to say that I'm a HUGE Doors fan, and when I watched this, it just simply blew me away! ENOURMOUSLY ENTERTAINING! It also has two members from the band Jefferson Airplane come on and talk about the tour that they did with The Doors, very intersting. I loved it and you will too!

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars The Bonus Concert Clicks.......2006-10-01

The first show in a small club in Germany, the Sue Foley Band seems at times stiff in front of the cameras. It really doesn't cook until about two-thirds thru when they play material from "New Used Car". The filmwork also has too many shots from the knees upward. The room is dark, the older audience laid back. The best part is the close-ups of Sue Foley working her pink guitar with multiple colored lights in the background. It's a good show more for listening than viewing. The live version of "Absolution" is a roof raiser. The second concert in Amsterdam is Sue at her loose, live best. The venue is bigger and Foley works the larger audience like an outdoor festival. Her vocals aren't as good as the first show, but it doesn't matter. It's all about the guitar and upbeat presentation. The supporting band keeps right in step with solid piano work doing great live versions from "Young Girl Blues" and "Change". Luckily they must of forgot the cameras were on. It's a short live dandy. The bonus interview is well done as Foley talks about her beginning years to the present including "The Guitar Woman" project. Overall it's a very good DVD worth the purchase. 21 total songs, 4 of which are repeated in the second show.

5 out of 5 stars Sue Foley Live in Europe.......2006-09-26

Excellent DVD.Not only do you get one great show but two (the Amsterdam show)as well, both are complete shows interview free. There is also a photo gallery plus an interview.Sue Foley is amazing and easily rates 5 stars.I do have to mention that the product info reads the code to be a region 2, but the DVD I purchased from amazon /borders is a code free 0 region , which plays fine on my USA purchased DVD player.

5 out of 5 stars Great disc.......2005-12-21

This Morgan Heritage DVD is really a redemption of roots reggae. The morgan family is really a great family and obviously very talented. If they continue together, they will be around for a very long time. All the music on the DVD were done beautifully and it does not have the poor audio quality that plagues a lot of Reggae DVDs out there. I was never a fan of this family, but I'm now a biiiiiiiiiig fan!

5 out of 5 stars Nice it up!.......2004-05-15

This dvd was well worth my money! This is Morgan Heritage at their very best! This dvd captures the group at two of their concerts in Europe. I thought the lighting could have been better and the mirophones should have been turn down a bit but having said that I really ENJOYED this dvd. Each member was interviewed individually they discussed how and where Morgan Heritage began and who and what inspires them. They performed almost all their hits off the "Three in one" and "More Teachings" albums, Their performance was outstanding there was no way I could stay seated on my couch I had to get up and dance! I loved the way they sang and played the songs "Maskal Square" and "Falling Race" It was nice to see Una Morgan take center stage and show that she can sing just as well as her brothers. Gramps you need to lose the shades and show that good looking face of yours. Lots of additional features. So if you feel like some great entertainment this is the dvd for you!

The parade of splendid blues on DVD continues with the 2004 release of Blues Legends: Memphis Slim and Sonny Boy Williamson Live in Europe, a compendium of performances alone and together by the two American bluesmen from the mid-1960s. The 48-minute program, mostly recorded in Brussels before a serious bunch of black-clad hipsters, has lots in common with the excellent American Folk Blues Festival series. It's nicely packaged, well annotated, presented with startlingly good audio-visual quality, and, most important, chock full of great performances (including two by Slim that were recorded on the AFBF tours but unreleased until now). Pianist-singer Memphis Slim (original name: Peter Chatman) is a fine musician, certainly the more stately and clean-cut of the two; Sonny Boy Williamson, a great harmonica player and singer who was known as Aleck Ford and Rice Miller before he co-opted the name of a well-known predecessor, plays music that was more unpredictable, darker (with his pointy goatee, he even bears a resemblance to the common depiction of Satan!), and thus often more compelling--even his three 1964 tunes backed by two Swedish musicians are top-notch. Anyway you slice it, there's nothing whatsoever here for blues fans not to like (three songs by pianist Otis Spann and the Muddy Waters band from 1960 are added for good measure), and lots to treasure. --Sam Graham

5 out of 5 stars Great Stuff.......2007-04-10

Video documentation of the blues greats is shamefully unavailable.
It is a tremendous loss to us all that there is so little good footage and that the Europeans had to show us where it's at and how it's done. I'm glad they did.

4 out of 5 stars "You look like Satan with that goatee".......2004-10-12

Not QUITE as essential as the three "American Folk Blues Festival" DVDs, this is nevertheless a really fine collection of performances by Memphis Slim and Rice Miller (Sonny Boy Williamson II).

It opens with a six-song set by Memphis Slim, taped in Holland in 1963. A very distinguished-looking Slim is backed by Matt "Guitar" Murphy and drummer Bill Stepney, and he does a dignified "The Blues Is Everywhere", a sloppy, too-fast "All My Myself" which he doesn't really take seriously, and a stately rendition of "My Gal Keeps Me Crying" which ranks as one of the highlights of this disc.
So does the lesser-known "I'm Lost Without You", a swinging, supremely catchy mid-tempo boogie, and Matt Murphy also gets a chance to show off, doing a dextrous (if not all that memorable) "Matt's Guitar Boogie" which also features a brief drum solo by Bill Stepney.

Slim's first set comes to a close with the delightful shuffle "Wish Me Well", and the first four performances by Rice Miller is from the same TV program, Jazz Prisma, taped in front of a small studio audience.
Sonny Boy opens with a slow, wistful "Lonely Man", followed by two more absolute highlights: "Keep It To Yourself" and "Your Funeral And My Trial", two of his best mid-50s Chess sides. The camera zooms in on Sonny Boy while he plays, and his half-closed lids, aloof I-couldn't-care-less expression and pointy goatee actually makes him look a little like the common depiction of Satan!
Maybe there was some truth to the legend that the young Aleck "Rice" Miller promised his soul to Old Scratch in exchange for not having to breathe while performing...
(And yes, the headline is a "Friends" quote.)

Sonny Boy may have been nearing the end of his life at this time, but his playing and singing show little if any sign of wear, and his sense of timing is impeccable.
His other set, a low-key trio performance taped in Sweden in 1964, is slightly less impressive, mainly due to the choice of material, but still worth while. And Memphis Slim gets two more songs as well, both footage from the American Folk Blues Festivals of 1962 and 1963 respectively. Willie Dixon joins him for both, and T-Bone Walker plays the guitar on the 1962 taping of the driving, up-tempo "Rockin' The House".

The bonus tracks include three grainy clips from the 1960 Newport Folk Festival (Muddy Waters' piano player Otis Spann plays three instrumentals) and a rather...different...performance of "Careless Love" by Mae Mercer with Sonny Boy on harmonica.
But it's the main content which will interest most viewers. This DVD is not quite as accessible to "mid-level" blues fans as the three "Folk Blues" DVDs, I suppose, but there are some tremendous performances here by both Slim and Sonny Boy, and fans of either man will certainly want a look. And a listen.

5 out of 5 stars Great DVD! Buy it!.......2004-10-02

Great DVD with excellent performances by Memphis Slim and Sonny Boy Williamson. The backing provided by Matt 'Guitar' Murphy on guitar and by Bill Stepney on drums (Willie Dixon jumps in on bass on two cuts) works prefectly and makes the performances very tight. Memphis Slim is terrific but it is Sonny Boy who steals the show!

Sonny Boy also plays three songs with two swedish musicians, who doesn't seem to be used to playing blues. These songs are much looser but Sonny Boy makes them work too.

Also included is a song with Sonny Boy as a sideman, providing excellent backup for singer Mae Mercer, and three cuts with Otis Spann playing with the Muddy Waters band minus Muddy himself. These latter cuts are from the 1960 Newport Folk Festival, and must be the band warming up for the legendary Muddy Waters concert which is issued as the classic album "Muddy Waters at Newport".

So, in my opinion the bonus material alone is worth the purchase. There is absolutely nothing negative to say about this DVD.

3 out of 5 stars Good Performances, Good addition to other Freddie DVD's.......2006-05-29

"A viewer's" review pretty much sums up a lot for me about the audio quality. It's unfortunate that the Montreux show has some tech. problems onstage, because it's the best audience he plays to in this collection. The other two shows are from Sweden, and the audience just isn't in to it compared to the Swiss and other King DVD's from these years. King and the band(tight as always) still give great shows, but the audience is really subdued.
"Live in Dallas" is the still the best Freddie King DVD I've got. This one makes a good companion DVD to the "Sugar Bowl" DVD, which is better.

3 out of 5 stars Freddie King does it again.......2003-10-27

Any Freddie King video is a good thing since he passed away almost 27 years ago. Howeer this DVD is not as good as some others of his. The first set in Montreux (June 20,1973) has Freddie and Co. having trouble with his vocal mic and at times he cannot hear himself sing. The second set in Sweden (December 19, 1974) is much better quality. Freddie plays a small club (almost looks like a resturant) most importantly he plays songs you dont have on other DVDs'. His third set is a carbon copy of the bonus material on the 1966 "The Beat" DVD from Sweden. If you have that DVD you already have this material. If you are a collector of Freddie king music pick this DVD up. It is worth a listen.

5 out of 5 stars Let's get the spelling correct.......2005-10-12

This DVD deserves 5 stars for the simple reason that it contains a rare chance to see Roine Stolt perform. And while I do agree with the previous reviewer from Boise that Mike Portnoy's utterances are unnecessary, I would appreciate the reviewer spelling Portnoy's name correctly. You see, my name is also Portnoy and it amazes me how many people insist on pronouncing it "Portnee". The name is Portnoy (i.e. rhymes with boy). The only real criticism I have with the DVD is that I would have liked to see Roine take more of the vocals instead of Neal Morse. Otherwise, this DVD is a keeper.

5 out of 5 stars Proves the major music labels got their heads up...........2005-05-30

Transatlantic will always be one of those bands that will be overlooked by members of the baby boom generation who like YES, Genesis, Gentle Giant, etc. All four members of this band worked together like a well oiled machine. Any fans of their CD's should also own this DVD. Filmed in late 2001 in Holland it captures both the uniqueness and genius of this band. There is not a bad cut or video on this DVD. You get a good cross section of both Transatlantic studio efforts. The DVD of the show is approximately 2 1/2 hours and that is not counting the bonus footage. Right out of the shoot it opens with DUEL WITH THE DEVIL from their second studio CD. Highlights for this viewer where the live version of MY NEW WORLD and ALL OF THE ABOVE. But, you also get WE ALL NEED SOME LIGHT, STRANGER IN YOUR SOUL, and the Beatlesque SUITE CHARLOTTE PIKE MEDLEY. Watching this DVD it seems like only 30 minutes went by, it is that good visually and musically. It grabs you and does not let go. I've viewed other music DVD's and on many of them, by half way through, I just got to take a break. That is not the case with TRANSATLANTIC: LIVE IN EUROPE.

When one views this DVD you have to ask yourself, why weren't these guys signed by any of the major music labels? Yeah, I know, they're no Dave Mathews, yawn, Matchbox 20 double yawn. It is a damn shame that great music from groups like Transatlantic are relegated to Prog fan niche musical ghetto.

This is a buy and tell your friends.

4 out of 5 stars GREAT CONCERT, BUT GAG THE DRUMMER.......2005-05-30

I had never heard of Transatlantic prior to purchasing this dvd. I bought it based on the description of the music, the previous reviews and the impressive drumming of Mike Portney, mostly from Liquid Tension.

After watching this dvd several times, I would say that I agree with most of what everyone else wrote prior to me. However, I do find one thing very disturbing - the filthy mouth of Mike Portney. There I was. I had the dvd blasting away in my living room while I pedaled away on my stationary bike, when all of the sudden Portney starts dropping the "F Bomb" between songs.
I know a lot of folks would say that its just part of "rock and roll", but I disagree. Have a little class guys! It's bad enough that I heard it, but my wife was standing there in the same room and she sure didn't appreciate it either.

I love the music and the musicianship, but not the swearing. Get rid of that and I would give this dvd a 5 star rating. Also, I won't be buying anymore dvds with Portney on them for fear that they will be tainted with the same language.

5 out of 5 stars Sublime!!!.......2004-11-11

Being a Prog-Rock fan for 20 years I highly recommend this concert. The performance is perfect and inspirational, the magic touch that made Yes, Genesis, ELP and others what they were is really there. These guys really know what they're doing, they rock!!!!!
The only problem is that sometimes you get camera shots from Stolt's face while the action is in his guitar, but that doesn't matter because the music is sublime.
The sound is perfect to me and if you have a fine equipment then prepare to fly the Transatlantic Starship!!!

5 out of 5 stars los 4 fabulosos.......2004-08-05

you crazy diamond interpretado en el NAMM show, fotos,
enfin, todo lo que un amante del progresivo puede
esperar.

Sin ser vidente ni, tener bola mágica me atrevo a
baticinar que este trabajo será seguramente el mejor
del año 2003 en la categoría de dvd.
