4 out of 5 stars queen.......2007-05-14

great concert and sound, but after seeing the band live it's hard to compare a dvd. worth the purchase, great song mix.

5 out of 5 stars The best!.......2007-04-11

A great live concert by an a amazing band. Everyone should own this dvd, and every frontman should study the excellence of freddie mercury. The best frontman in history!

5 out of 5 stars I wanted to eat it all ... in one bite.......2007-04-11

Wow-- DVD at home--with Bose sound sure beats the 8 tracks and wedge speakers in my 69 Mustang. Beats the turntable and nickles taped to the needle and giant home made speakers (thank you Radio Shack). Always liked Queen-- this is my first Queen DVD and it is great. Nice variety. Freddie whips up the crowd.... goose bumps. Program the DVD to play REPEAT. I like this better than vinyl-- Night at the Opera.
Another One Bites the Dust-- good for pregame in the locker room.

5 out of 5 stars Si existiese una máquina del tiempo, yo no iria a woodstock, yo iria a Queen Live at Wembley!!!.......2007-04-06

5 out of 5 stars God save the Queen!!.......2007-03-31

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Sound Problems But Great Performance.......2007-07-07

The performance is great, but if you listen closely, the volume swells up and down throughout most of the songs. Most evident on "mama" and the beginning and soft breakdown on "Domino". It's as if someone applied limiters to excess on the mastering of the sound, and it's gone crazy.

5 out of 5 stars Exceptional Quality.......2007-05-17

I am something of a fan of concert videos and attended the INVISIBLE TOUCH tour when it launced in Los Angeles in 1987. Of all in my collection, this one has some of the best sound quality of them all. Even a reasonable surround sound system will give an good performance. Camera work and effects are very good, allowing the impression of "Being There."

5 out of 5 stars Genesis at their Very Best .......2007-05-09

I was never lucky enuff to see Genesis live back in the 80's or 90's but i'm Finally going to see them this year (2007) in Chicago and i'm about as excited as a lil school kid on x-mas morning. When I bought this concert on VHS way back in 1990, I was in absolute heaven cuz it's surely the next best thing to being there and flawless from beginning to end. Some of the standouts from the show were - Abacab, Home by the Sea, Land of Confusion, Domino & Los Endos. Now that this concert is on dvd with digital sound/pic & contains extras like interviews with the band, it's even that much sweeter. I own about a hundred concert videos by many popular bands from the 80's, 90's, etc... but this one really stands out from the rest of the pack becuz of it's song selection, location, raw energy, sound & picture quality, camera work and above all else, the superb performances by Phil & the rest of the guys. Basically, This dvd shows Genesis in their prime & is a Must own for any fan.

5 out of 5 stars A stunning show.......2007-02-06

This was an excellent concert, but would you expect anything else from these guys??? I saw the Invisible Touch Tour twice in person, but the venues I went to in the Los Angeles area were no match for Wembley Stadium. Wembley was the perfect place to record this show. Once again, Genesis displayed their superb musical skills and amazing theatrics. The band was in top form here. Genesis was always a band that could effortlessly blend sound and visuals to create a unique concert-going experience. They were so far ahead of their time in that regard. Bands today, even with the current technology, cannot hold up to what these guys did...20 years ago.

4 out of 5 stars 2nd half of show... amazing!.......2007-02-04

This DVD is well worth the investment. However, I do wish that the old "Seconds Out" tour 1977 that I attended after Gabriel left was available somehow, somewhere. That's more my style: old Genesis. However, I was pleasantly surprised at the show starting with "Tonight, Tonight" and through "Los Endos." An amazing hour of entertainment (2nd half of the show), where any fan will lose themselves in the sheer spectacle of Genesis at Wembley and, of course, Phil, Tony, the music/show, are first rate!

Bombast, Beatles, and big hair are the order of the day on Out of the Blue: Live at Wembley, a 1978 show by Jeff Lynne and his Electric Light Orchestra at that fabled London arena. This was a charity event with a couple of Royals in attendance, not to mention actor (and renowned music authority) Tony Curtis, who introduces the band as "the most outstanding rock group in the world today." In their dreams, maybe. Still, ELO managed to thrive in an era when the punk movement was obliterating many "dinosaur" bands of their ilk, with a string of hits and a flashy, entertaining stage show (the spaceship set is a trip), all on display throughout this hour-long performance. They cram a full thirteen tunes into that time, focusing on Out of the Blue, a double vinyl album which included the undeniably catchy hits "Turn to Stone" and "Sweet Talkin' Woman"; we also get "Telephone Line," "Showdown," "Do Ya," and an extended "Roll Over Beethoven" to close the show. It's no coincidence that Lynne, who wrote, sang, and produced ELO's material, would go on to produce George Harrison's Cloud Nine and later preside over the mid-'90s reunion that saw Harrison, Ringo Starr, and Paul McCartney complete two "new" John Lennon songs. Lynne and his band were unabashed Beatlemaniacs, and mixed in with their rock-cum-pseudo-classical sound was the almost constant influence of the Fabs ("Mr. Blue Sky," to name just one, bears more than a passing resemblance to the McCartney-penned middle section of "A Day in the Life"). Of course, echoing the Beatles is neither an uncommon nor a bad thing, and Out of the Blue: Live at Wembley, which features digitally remastered sound, is good, dumb fun. The DVD package includes a too-small reproduction of the original tour program. --Sam Graham

4 out of 5 stars Nostalgiac and Very Good.......2007-05-09

I remember seeing this concert on TV in 1978. It was exciting to me because ELO was my favorite Rock Group at the time.I had just recently discovered them from their "New World Record" album, (which my Brother had bought). I thought it was Great. Then came "Out Of The Blue". Which I thought was equally Great, though quite different. So to see them on TV for my first time was pretty cool. I didn't see it again until I bought this DVD in January 2007. I did buy the cd a few years ago and I was disapponted with the poor sound quality. But this DVD sounds very good. So to watch it again was very nostalgiac and to listen to it with a high quality sound system is very entertaining. ELO is still my favorite Rock Group and I highly recommend this DVD.

4 out of 5 stars Good for funs.......2007-03-15

Sound and video quality is not perfect. However it can be excused that it was recorded so long ago. Nevertheless it is pleasure for ELO funs to have this concert in DVD

5 out of 5 stars BIG DRUMS, A TOTAL ELO AUDIO EXPERIENCE. OUT OF THE BLUE 1978....................2007-02-08

The Zoom dvd performance is more tighter, but I like "Out Of The Blue" because seven of the original 1970s Elo Members are performing live. Above all this performance kept those big drums in play, as they are clearly not heard on "Zoom". The picture quality is faded but a beautiful remastering job never the less. The theatre system sound options include DTS, Dolby 5.1, and the ear shattering PCM Stereo. If you watch "Out Of The Blue" on your theatre system you will feel like your at the concert circa 1978. 13 songs of pure Elo madness. This was really a well performed show. A true 1970s trip. This dvd is a must have, and must be watched and heard on a theatre sytem to feel, and really understand the true audio remastering of this dvd release. THE PCM AND DTS OPTIONS ARE AN AUDIO MARVEL THAT MUST BE HEARD ON A THEATRE SYSTEM..............................
OF COURSE YOUR SEVEN ELO MUSICIANS WHO MADE THIS DVD A MUST HAVE........

About 20 years ago, I decided to rent the ELO Live at Wembley VHS to which my girlfriend at the time said, "Oh, they lip-synched..." Her proclamation seemed confirmed as I watched Jeff and the boys appear to sync to the studio versions. Why were the crowd so crazy about them? Why would Bev flail at his drumkit with such abandon if he were not, in fact, playing for the audience? I was crushed, and I had a difficult time reconciling those who I considered professional musicians of integrity with folks like Milli Vanilli, etc. -- considering that, the Wembley VHS was a horrible ambassador for ELO as a live band.

This reissue DVD fully clears the band's reputation: They weren't frauds who faked their way through concerts! The original sound has been restored, no dubbing with the studio recordings and the band showed an amazing amount of confidence, power and energy. The band is not as tight as the 2001 Zoom edition, but the 31 year old Jeff Lynne was a lot more energetic that the 54 year old edition. My only regrets are the focus on the Out of the Blue album (that they were supporting) so you don't get too many classic songs from the back catalog, and a poor encore rendition of "Livin' Thing" which sounded insufficiently rehearsed. However, "Do Ya" and some of the older songs sound absolutely awesome. Anyway, I quite enjoyed the concert, and if you ever witnessed the sacrilege of the old Wembley editions, give this one a look. Nice packaging as well!

5 out of 5 stars A treasure to behold!.......2007-03-09

I'd like to say that we (my wife and I)are so delighted with the purchase of the DVD "Luther Vandross, Live at Wembley". I purchased this DVD for my wife for our anniversary. I took my wife to see Luther Vandross in concert. He was performing in Irvine,CA and we had a blast! It was her first time seeing Mr. Vandross in concert, and my third time. We were so hurt by his death just a few years later. We now have this live DVD of him to help keep him in our heart and mind. Thank you for making it possible. Our order came in a fast and prompt manner with no problems! Thank you, once again,

Patrick Buttram

Beyonce's London fans go crazy when the Destiny's Child beauty, on her first solo international tour, descends to a massive stage while suspended, upside down, from a wire. After a delicate landing, the star embarks on a set of recent hits immersed in complicated arrangements, including the Arabic sound of "Baby Boy" and "Naughty Girl," the chunky, hypnotic funk of "Hip Hop Star," and Beyonce: Live at Wembley's best performance, the powerful "Work It Out," in which the diva is at her clearest, jazziest, and most soulful. Not everything works. The bottom falls out of "Gift from Virgo," "Be with You" is forgettable, and Beyonce's stage patter needs polish. But a Destiny's Child medley accompanied by only a DJ is innovative and fun, "Summertime" proves a breezy dance number, and "Crazy in Love" is bolstered by what sounds like the old Stax horns. A CD featuring a few remixes is included with the DVD. --Tom Keogh

5 out of 5 stars Best Dvd Live Show EVER! .......2007-01-11

This is one of the best live DVD's I own. I picked it up at the store on a whim and from the second it began I was entranced. The dancing and singing are mindblowing from beginning to end. I don't know how she did it. She sang and sweated and danced the whole way through. Can't wait from the next one!

1 out of 5 stars THIS SUCKS!.......2006-11-03

It's like Beyonce was putting on a high school show! Her voice is way to edited... Sher is using the same dance moves from her music video and she is just singing decent... She either needs to wrok on the dance or just sing! It's ashame because she has a lot of ability but I own over 300 dvds and this is by far the worst one!

4 out of 5 stars Don't believe the hype.......2006-05-23

Beyonc's talented, she has a supernatural voice, but not everything is well with this chick, when she went solo she forgot that she was on Destiny's Child and she used to act like she was the one and olny. all in all, she was so selfish...
Anyway, I am not here to critizice her, I'm here to review her stuff "Beyonc: Live at Wembley" a concert taped on late 2003 at England as part of her tour. She was the 2003 artist with 3 US #1's , "Crazy in love", "Baby boy" and "Me, myself and I" and a platinum album under her belt, and her tour was succesful too.

4 out of 5 stars Beyonce-Live In Wembley.......2006-04-08

I've been a huge fan of Beyonce and Destiny's Child since day ONE. So many people criticize her because she is the main focus of the group and the spotlight is constantly on her. Not to deny the talents of the other two girls in DC, but this concert DVD gives a very strong indication as to why Beyonce is the star that she is today.
There is no other contemporary female star out there that can sing like her, this girl has been gifted with such an incredible range and a beautiful voice. Her dancing has improved DRASTICALLY since the last DC world tour and she just seems more confident and exudes far more charisma than ever before.
This is a good concert dvd, Beyonce keeps the energy level high and when she does slow it down, she showcases her superb vocal abilities. The stand-out for me was her performance of "Dangerously In Love" she looked great, and she sang like she was on fire.
I would have given this DVD 5 stars but I think that she needs to work a little more on her stage presence and there is no excuse for all the lip-synching for someone as talented as her. But then again, people forget that she is not even 25 years old yet, so there is plenty of time for her to polish her act and become the great superstar she is meant to be.

5 out of 5 stars Surprisingly entertaining for a pop show........2007-01-29

The tour does leave out Westlife's traditional continuous ten-minute medley section in its setlist, but does include excellent big band renditions of their hit "Uptown Girl" and a "She's Back/ Billie Jean" mesh. The DVD's opener, "Flying Without Wings" is another highlight, and the best live version I've heard to date due to Mark's outstanding vocals.
Other highlights include "World of Our Own" and "Mandy" (Shane and Mark harmonize surprisingly well on this one). All in all Westlife sound great live on this DVD. Mark turned it up a notch and made the entire show a lot better (you don't have to put up with him missing many notes this time!)

Complete tracklisting:

Flying Without Wings
Hit You With The Real Thing
When You're Looking Like That
Amazing
She's Back / Billie Jean
Uptown Girl
Addicted To Love
I Wish / Wild Wild West
Senorita / Don't Cha
Colour My World

The Dance
Swear It Again
Seasons In The Sun
World Of Our Own
Mandy
Queen Of My Heart

4 out of 5 stars WESTLIFE TOUR 2006!.......2006-12-20

Besides the release of "Love Album", Westlife also released their 2006 world tour "Face to Face" DVD. This time, the whole show was recorded at Wembley! Mark is my favorite member in Westlife, but I find myself enjoying Shane more this time! Mark's performance is unsteady, while Shane performed better than the albums. Finally, fans can listen to Nicky's and Kian's awesome voices again! Although Nicky's vocal is not strong, his voice is really soothing and gentle; Kian's vocal is surprisingly good, it makes me wonder why he doesn't contribute more to Westlife's album!
The tour consisted of classic Westlife songs ("Flying Without Wings", "Mandy", "Swear It Again", etc), unexpected good old songs ("Seasons in the Sun", "Queen of My Heart"), new songs from the album "Face to Face" ("You Raise Me Up", "Hit You With The Real Thing", "Amazing", etc), and exciting medleys! They also sang "The Dance", which is not a better version than the "Love Album" version, but I really love that song! Overall, another Westlife tour that should not be missed! Westlife will have their brand new tour in 2007, but until then, enjoy this DVD!

Recorded at their 2000 dates from Wembley Stadium, England, Familiar to Millions celebrates not just nearly a decade of dominance by Oasis but also the fact that it is still actually possible to get them on the same stage at the same time. Moreover, while the band certainly had their troubles getting there (not the least of which was Noel Gallagher's decision to stay at home for many European dates), this finds all concerned with blistering form, with even the newer band members sounding like they were born to play with the monobrowed ones. The chosen set list also wisely skimps on selections from their recent work, preferring instead to concentrate on the likes of "Cigarettes & Alcohol," "Wonderwall," "Supersonic," "Shakermaker," "Don't Look Back in Anger," "Champagne Supernova," and a superb Noel-sung version of Neil Young's "Hey Hey My My."

The actual concert footage itself, though, is only the tip of the iceberg, with special features including a discography, graphics that were specially filmed for the dates, multicamera angles on "Cigarettes & Alcohol," and a documentary by Grant Gee, previously responsible for Radiohead's Meeting People Is Easy documentary. The most entertaining aspect of this DVD by far, however, is a Gary Crowley-conducted, pre-gig interview with the siblings in which ex- cokehead Noel gleefully admits that he can remember absolutely nothing whatsoever about recording (What's the Story) Morning Glory? --Warren Wayans

Description

As the year ends, comes the concert event of the century--Oasis' "Familiar to Millions" is the first definitive concert from the pre-eminent rock band of the last decade. Recorded live at Wembley Stadium before a sold-out audience on July 21st, 2000. Songs: Fuckin' in the Bushes, Go Let It Out, Who Feels Love?, Supersonic, Shakermaker, Acquiesce, Step Out, Gas Panic!, Roll With It, Stand By Me, Wonderwall, Cigarettes and Alcohol, Don't Look Back in Anger, Live Forever, Hey Hey My My, Champagne Supernova, Rock 'n' Roll Star.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars OASIS!!!!!!.......2007-05-12

Got this after I saw them in AC at the house of blues in oct 05. This DVD is awesome!!! I had given Oasis a rest for about a year or two and missed this when it came out. But i listened to this and i got right back on the train, chug a lug! Wooo wooo! OASIS FOOOOKIN BRILLIANT MATE! Gas Panic!, Go Let it Out, classic bangers, talking smack on wembley, whos andy bell...

3 out of 5 stars Boring, and horrendous audio.......2007-04-29

The song choices were poor - "There and Then" was SIGNIFICANTLY better. And the audio on this DVD was very bad and muddy, probably because it is offered as "5.0," whatever that is supposed to mean.

4 out of 5 stars Great to have, even if you already own the CD.......2007-03-29

Now, maybe I'm a bit biased since Oasis is my favorite band ever, but I really am glad I bought this DVD. The image quality is quite good, and it's fun to have the bits of in-between-song banter that are cut from the CD. As far as the bonus features go, they're a bit minimal-- and to be honest, the crowd shots are a little silly at times -- but the interview portion is a good bonus, especially with Noel talking about his thoughts on the albums they'd released at that point. I don't think you have to be a super-fan to enjoy this.

4 out of 5 stars Some captions for the lads!.......2006-11-02

A really nice gig and a nice DVD presentation. It was a good show and the crowd was just awesome. The documentaries included are nice, really do a good job of making you feel like you actually attended the show. The last part of the show is Oasis at their best, compared to any other DVD or live show out there. At the beggining it drags a little: 'Who Feels love' and "gas Panic" are not great songs to play live and can get a little boring. Other than that , I wish the interview included captions, I cant understand a word they are saying!

4 out of 5 stars Familiar to everyone.......2006-10-24

I agree this is not as good as There and Then. But only because of the songs. This tour was in support of the 'standing on the shoulder of giants' album which is my least favourite in the entire Oasis catalogue. But as far as sound and visuals go, I reckon this is a lot better. You actually feel like you are a part of the event that took place on the night of the 21st of july 2000. Hard to believe it was that long ago. I have seen Oasis live a few times and they are excellent live, so if you have never seen them in concert and would like too I highly recommend this as a substitute for now.
The special features are outstanding and the accompanying interviews Liam and Noel actually make sense for a change, instead of their incoherent rambling from the past.
The versions of 'stand by me' and 'don't look back in anger' are my standout tracks here. I look forward to the next live DVD release from Oasis.

    5 out of 5 stars Great process.......2006-03-16

5 out of 5 stars The King of Bass.......2007-06-27

Mark King is arguably the best bass musician to ever make the majors. It is hard to fathom while listening to and watching this dvd, that Mark had only been playing for about eight years. For Mark, the original instrument of choice had been the drums. It is pure joy to sit back and enjoy this fine time capsule of Level 42 at Wembley, as 1986 wound down. Mark King sings and plays to an enthusiastic full house during the high point of Level 42's musical career. Shortly after this stellar achievement, Boon and Phil Gould left the band. It is great that this dvd captures the original line-up at their best. Mike Lindup is the perfect compliment to Mark's vocals and a master musicain, as is the entire line-up, including Krys Mack on sax, and Annie McCaig on back-up vocals. The level of musicianship this band displayed is phenomenal and all captured on this dvd. All of the big hits are here, making this a must have for the fans who enjoyed the more jazz/pop fusion the band veered toward as the eighties pressed on. This live recording captures the pure joy of making music. This material does not come across as dated eighties tunes. There were no bands playing this type of music so it sounds timeless. The sound quality is excelent as well as the picture. There is also a video of the song "Running in the Family", and "The Sun Goes Down". And if that is not enough there is an interview with Mark King from 2005. This dvd is thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. The songs are: Fashion Fever, World Machine, Children Say, Love Games, Leaving Me Now, The Chant Has Begun, Lessons in Love, The Sun Goes Down, Something About you, Hot Water, The Chinese Way, (although the last is not mentioned on the cover) Enjoy.

    5 out of 5 stars Great concert!!!!.......2007-01-09

The best of Level 42 in their '80's glory. Truly a major event when it happened, Level 42 represents some of the finest that the 80's English pop scene had to offer. This is still the best DVD concert available of Level 42. Sound quality and picture are both excellent. I am happy that this DVD exists and that I own it, and especially at this price I found it to be an amazing bargain.

5 out of 5 stars Bass in Your Face.......2006-07-19

You will never see another concert like this one. It is the greatest single act of musical performance ever committed to video. Mark King rules his bass guitar like a mighty despot AND... he's wearing his axe where it should always be: way high up on the strap, just below your chin. Mike Lindup gives Philip Bailey a run for his falsetto money, and the rest of the band shines like Isaac Hayes' head. Special props to guest saxaphonist Gary Barnacle, who gives this rollicking jam an added dose of Happy Sax.

So many classics on this I can't even begin to tell you, and that's a fact: Chinese Way, Hot Water, Dune Tune (with a bass solo that'll make you freak out so hard, you won't even believe it). Wait for when King is hoisted up on a harness, over the audience, while slapping his bass so hard, Joan Collins called him afterwards and said, "Teach me how to slap like THAT."

Look, it's awesome. Just buy it.
