The live band was made up of Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder, Smiths' guitarist Johnny Marr, Neil's brother Tim, Lisa Germano, Soul Coughing's Sebastian Steinberg, and drummer Phil Selway and guitarist Ed O'Brien from Radiohead.

Great! Great stuff! Would recommend to any Finn fan. Have seen live during the Crowded House days and in recent years(twice in NYC). Neil Finn's live performance is just as hauntingly melodic today as in the 80's. His songwritting is simply timeless. One of the most consistant artists I've ever had the pleasure to see live. If you have had the chance to see live this DVD will bring you right back to the show. Don't know where the mix of artists captured here came from, but it just flows.

My short and sweet review for this item is this: If you can't see Neil Finn live in concert, then at least you can buy this dvd and pretend you were there. Great songs, great performers -- great show. I bought one for myself and one for a gift. I wish Neil would tour in the states more often - the Finn brothers are so great in concert :)

Outstanding Music, less than wonderful video.......2004-09-11

The music on this DVD is wonderful, and I think the best way to enjoy it is to put the DVD on, but leave your TV off. The visuals are at best comforting - at worst they are horribly annoying. Whoever directed this seems like an undergraduate film student; poor cutting, never heard of a cross-fade,likes jarring effects, when in doubt loves to cut to the wide shot. The camera operators had trouble focussing...

But the music. We all know that Neil Finn is a pre-eminent songwriter, and his songs are timeless. Bringing in a hand-picked group of musicians was his stroke of genius. And having his son's band play his (and his brother Tim's) songs, sung by Eddie Vedder, works really well.

So 5 stars for the music and the performance, minus 1 for the video.

If you're a fan of Crowded House, Split Enz, the Finn brothers, you will love the aural pleasures offered by this - and let's face it, having the music surround you in a home theatre is SUCH a treat.

The next best thing to being there.......2003-10-14

I purchased a copy of this dvd from a local store, and every time i watch it i wish i could have seen it live. Over 2 hours of live music in 6 channel surround make for a concert in your own home. Highly recommended, definately consider this before the cd edition.

Experiencing Neil Finn's recent, sold-out show at the Gothic Theater in Denver inspired me to purchase this DVD along with the companion CD. Drawn from five shows at The St. James in Aukland, New Zealand in April, 2001, this DVD captures all the energy and musical genius of Neil Finn live. With Lisa Germano, Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam), Johnny Marr (The Smiths), Sebastian Steinberg (Soul Coughing), and Phil Selway and Ed O'Brien (Radiohead) backing him, Neil's set list includes songs from his days fronting both Split Enz and Crowded House, as well as from his solo career. While Neil covers The Smith's "There is a Light that Never Goes Out" with a Morrissey-like vocal, it is ultimately Smith's guitarist, Johnny Marr, who steals the show with his song, "Down on the Corner" (which Neil covered in Denver). The DVD offers an amazing version of the Crowded House song, "Four Seasons in One Day," unfortunately missing from the companion CD.
