David Cassidy's old and new fans will find plenty of enjoyable nostalgia in this Glasgow, Scotland concert. The former teen idol and star of television's The Partridge Family hasn't forgotten the 1970s touchstones ("I Think I Love You," "I Woke Up In Love This Morning"), and his performance on solo hits ("Could It Be Forever," "I'll Meet You Halfway") still recall Cassidy's vintage pop sensibility: country touches, dreamy crooning, and grown-up arrangements with a glitzy surface for the teeny-bopper crowd. Cassidy has more problems with covers: Deep Purple's "Hush" and Barry Manilow's "I Write the Songs," among others, lack any hint of authenticity. They're part of a post-icon's attempt to look like a seasoned, show-business survivor, a role that makes Cassidy look twitchy and uncomfortable. Not that the man lacks talent: his cabaret take on "Cry" sounds good and offers a glimpse of the sophistication he seeks. --Tom Keogh

5 out of 5 stars Great, and please note the spelling.......2006-12-12

I was at one of these concerts, though not this particular one, in the AUDIENCE, and the atmosphere was as electric as the guitars on stage. The Cassidygirls were out in force, having a great time, the songs were pure Partridge, plus more than a few solo hits to break hearts with and Cassidy himself was having a ball, he is a fabulous performer, full of energy and verve, and it comes out in this dvd. The song selection brings back all those memories of teenage years spent dreaming about him, as he sings just for you, live on stage. If you weren't a fan, don't buy, but if you were, then this will bring it all back. Your family will think you've gone mad as you sit there sighing and clutching a cushion, but hey! You're just a kid again, so what the heck! It's fun, enjoy it while it lasts, and you can keep reliving it, and buy the second concert just to annoy!! Watch Cassidy leap and bound around the stage like a twentysomething again, flirt with the audience and give everyone their moneysworth. This is DEFINITELY one for fans. Keith Patridge he is not anymore, and he can rock with the best of 'em now. He sure knows how to play a guitar - but then, he always did!

3 out of 5 stars david cassidy live.......2006-03-04

old school. to me david cassidy shows that he can still keep his audiance entertained at his age.

3 out of 5 stars not that great 3+?.......2005-10-17

I give this a 3+ stars, I really didn't like it and I am pushing it with a 3+ stars. I basicly was boared with this DVD, I guess I am not a true David Cassidy fan but I do like his music, I just like it better on the Partrige family show instead of live.

5 out of 5 stars Concert at home!.......2005-05-25

I saw David in concert recently and must tell you I bought this DVD afterwards, I was so pleased, it was like reliving the concert in my own livingroom. David truley sings for his fans! This is a must have for all David's fans!

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing unless you are a fan.......2005-02-28

I was quite disappointed in this. I bought it on the basis of customer reviews but it didn't do it for me.

Look David's voice has improved in many ways since his Partridge Family Days and the talent is there but I wish he'd rethink his approach.

If you like the Vegas show style of perpetual plastered smile on face and all numbers of an upbeat sort of style perhaps this is for you. I'm more into the rock angle and like more bite, emotion and grit and a feeling someone is laying bare their soul and emotion.

I like variation in mood. If you are going to sing about heartache or sadness I like that mood to be embodied and expressed by the singer. However David has that beaming determined smile when he sings of being left and crying etc. Is he really that happy and joyful because there is almost a mask-like quality to it that looks trained for stage?

The odd thing is that I remember the original TV show when he used to have quite a haunting sad and reflective look when he did express that sort of variation in mood. So he seems to have left his acting behind in favour of broadway show resolute cheeriness.

The other problem is superficial and trivial but it completely distracted me - his hair! He is a little receding now (no big deal) but he wears it in a tight off-the-face rocker style which has been coiffed to add a little more height so it looks even more severe. It is VERY severe and a marked contrast to the soft and sexy look he used to have with more hair tumbling over his forehead - gee, I'm still a child of the 60s and I do like soft, sexy, slightly longer hair rather than military precision!

The songs? - Really uneven for me - a couple I had to skip tracks. 'Cherish' I found quite painful for instance. However 'Aint no sunshine' was shaping well - except for his cheerfulness about the lack of sunshine with his girl gone! 'Hush' had potential that slowing down a bit and putting some real emotion and depth into it would have brought to completion.

So if you think I'm being picky when the guy to you just looks happy all the time, and you are into a Vegas-show style, don't care if all emotions are expressed one-dimensionally, you like a more severe haircut- or you are a fan no matter what - go for it.

As a casual explorer it wasnt for me and it's a pity because from what I heard from his voice he's got the talent, with a different haircut he's still got the looks, and from what I recall of his acting he could really sink into those songs and really connect to the heart if he went for singing the meaning of the songs he chooses.

Time for an upgrade and to rethink David- unless your dedicated fans like the more bubble gum style.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing! Awesome! Mezmerising! Addicting!.......2004-09-18

He keeps the audience moving and wanting more. My favorite songs are Last Kiss, Daydreamer and I Write the Songs. This DVD is a must for all David Cassidy Fans! A MUST!!

5 out of 5 stars Great show, great sound, great locality!.......2004-02-13

Let's be frank first, you have to be a fan of David Cassidy to enjoy this DVD. I am assuming the bad reviewer is not a fan. The show is great and filmed great. Great pre-show footage too!
Here's a little hint on how to get this cheaper from Amazon,
Use there canadian site since this is a Canadian pressed DVD. (www.amazon.ca) It sells for 27.88 (CAD) which is about 21 US dollars. A lot better than 35 dollars. Great show and well worth the USD or CAD!

2 out of 5 stars ........where is my old review..........????????????.......2004-01-20

I wrote an review about this one and now it is gone. Why?? because I gave it only two stars?? David can sing no doubt about that, but his stage performance was and is terrible on this dvd. I like most of his songs very much, but the way he is acting in front for a group over-aged screaming old women is awfull, sorry to say I know but it is the truth.
For the music 4 starrs, for the picture 0 starrs, so an average of 2 starrs because it is a dvd and not a audio cd.
Sorry fans, if you read my review of his Cherish album then you would know I am a fan, but I try to be honset, sorry again...

5 out of 5 stars David your better.......2004-01-19

This dvd is great, David is just as alive and sings better then he did years ago. The memories that came to mind when i seen this dvd were great, whenever i need a lift i just turn on the dvd of David and i feel great.....He really pours his heart and soul on some of these songs. its just the greatest.

5 out of 5 stars The Next Best Thing to Being There.......2004-01-08

This DVD is awesome! It is the next best thing to being at a live David concert. The set list includes some of David's solo work, as well as some old favorite Partridge Family tunes. Also included are "Hush" and "I Saw Her Standing There." The encores are "Cry" and "Hollywood Nights." The camera work is great... it showcases David's enthusiasm on stage as well as the audience reactions to his every move. Whenever I need a lift or simply want to relive one of his concerts, I watch this DVD. I have seen David in concert many times, and I still don't get tired of watching this DVD.
