There have been a lot of durable family groups in popular music over the years, but it would be hard to name one that has lasted longer, and succeeded as consistently, as the Bee Gees. Barry Gibb and his younger twin brothers, Robin and Maurice, were making TV and radio appearances in Australia as early as 1960 before returning to their native England and joining the Beatles-led British Invasion, and they're still at it more than 40 years later. All of that is duly chronicled in this two-hour documentary (produced in 2000), along with a great deal more: the personal problems that led to a breakup in the early '70s; the unparalleled success of the Saturday Night Fever era; their occasional missteps and failures (e.g., the abominable Sgt. Pepper movie); the rise and tragic fall of brother Andy; the respect their success finally earned them in the '90s; and so on.

The format is pretty standard; interviews, photos, home movies, and concert footage all contribute to a straight, chronological telling of the Bee Gees' tale. But no stone is left unturned, and the Gibb Brothers (not to mention everyone else who's interviewed) have plenty to say. Best of all, there's lots of the Bee Gees' music, including a video of the title track of the 2001 album, after which the film is named. In the end, we're left with the impression the Bee Gees would probably want us to have: that these guys have written, recorded, produced, and performed literally hundreds of great songs. --Sam Graham

5 out of 5 stars Entertaining.......2007-03-31

I have loved the BEEGEES music since they first became famous. This Offical story was truly enjoyable. It was very well done and extensively factual. It was what I was hoping it would be and more. I couldn't stop watching - - my eyes were glued to the TV. All true BEEGEES fans will love every minute.

5 out of 5 stars If you love the Bee Gees, you need this DVD.......2006-06-11

A better job of this documentary could not have been done. It's a two hour presentation that will leave you feeling that the incredible success Barry, Robin and Maurice have had is very well deserved. The brothers Gibb were blessed with an incredible ability to write and produce massively popular hits - they are the second most successful group in the history of popular music after the Beatles (in terms of record sales). Of course, in terms of longevity, they are rivalled only by the Rolling Stones.

Told in their own words (also with narration), the story covers their entire lives: their relationships with each other, their wives, their families, their triumphs and trageries and, of course, their unbelievable success. The documentary is littered with numerous achievements.

If you are greatly interested in the Bee Gees (or even if you have a passing interest) you really owe it to yourself to get this DVD or video. Although it was produced in 2001 prior to Maurice's untimely death, it's still absolutely fascinating viewing. Five stars is really not enough.

5 out of 5 stars "GREAT DVD".......2006-02-24

The Bee Gees are one of my very favorite music groups of all time. This DVD is chock full of trivia. I didn't know that the group formed way back in the 1960s. They're great songwriters, their music jams, and the late Maurice Gibb, who happened to be my favorite Bee Gee, made me smile and shed a tear. I'm still sad that he's no longer with us. This is a great DVD.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Bee Gee's DVD.......2005-09-16

This DVD was so good, it takes you back to when they first began, you see things told from there Mom, When I put it in I couldn't stop watching. This was made before the death of Maurice but it brings you pretty much up to date before his death. This is one that you will love to have in your collection, if you are a Bee Gee's fan.
