1 out of 5 stars Definantly not unplugged and so not what the church used to be.......2006-06-26

I got this DVD on Saturday, 24 June 2006 and was so excited to watch this one.

I thought I was buying an unplugged Gospel celebration. But, I was wrong.

This is definantly not unplugged and the singing is mediocre at best. The production quality is bad and it looks as if everyone stepped back into the early 80's (guess that's where the 'The way the church used to be' tagline comes in.

I definantly wanted to unplug this DVD ASAP and will be trying to sell this to anyone willing to not get what they pay for.

Pass this one up.

3 out of 5 stars Get the Hallelujah Video...don't waste your money on this one.......2006-01-24

I'll give it to Ricky, He did an excellent job with the audio aspects of the album/DVD. As usual, the perfect songs for the perfect choir. The video, on the other hand....bites! This is horrible compared to the videos Hallelujah (Malaco did a much better job even for a low budget release) and Worked It Out (released by Crystal Rose). Is it me or are all the record labels trying to tell us something? Like they don't care how the artist look or sound, just as long as we get the dough... If you really want to catch some good ole' Ricky & New G, get Hallelujah. You may pay a little more, but for nearly 2 hours of non stop real UNPLUGGED Chu'ch...it worth it!

2 out of 5 stars Unplugged: Way Church Used to be!.......2005-09-26

If you are merely looking for showmanship, then this DVD is for you. However nothing about the entire DVD performance reminded me of anything as -the title would suggest- "The way church use to be"! Dillard and choir spent too much time perfecting facial, and precise movements then they did to the deliverance of each song. At times several of the selections were painful to listen too as they were screaming - resulting in the song becoming inaudible! I give it 2 stars - simply for its effort!

5 out of 5 stars AWESOME.......2005-09-21

THIS DVD BY RICKY AND NEW G IS A TREAT. I WISH THAT THEY WOULDNT CUT OFF SONGS AND JUST LET IT PLAY. LIKE ON OH SWEET WONDER THE END WHERE THEY ARE PRAISING GOD THEY CUT IT OFF AND GO TO THE NEXT SONG I THOUGHT THAT THEY WERE GOING TO SHOUT AND THEN THEY LEFT. OTHER THAN THAT THIS IS STILL AMAZING. RICKY AND NEW G IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SINGERS OF ALL TIME BUY IT YOU WILL BE BLESS.

5 out of 5 stars The only thing missing was the dancing in the aisles. .......2005-08-23

The only thing missing is the dancing in the aisles. A 5-star rating is not high enough. I have been a Ricky Dillard and New G fan since "Oh What A Promise". This DVD is in great. Then to throw in Deandre Patterson is a treat. It is good old-fashioned choir music. It is obvious New G enjoys what they are doing. And the song leaders are awesome. Your money will not be wasted.
