Divas Are Forever, starring Shirley Bassey live in concert from Antwerp, Belgium during her 1997 tour, is a must-have item for fans and a great place to start if you want to get better acquainted. The first 60 minutes is the concert itself, packed with 10 great Bassey standards. She shows her diva status stunningly with a great dramatic entrance to the strains of "Goldfinger," the theme to the James Bond film, which along with "Diamonds Are Forever" pays tribute to her Bond girl days. From old favorite "'S Wonderful" to "Kiss Me Honey, Honey" (in which she cha-chas with her mic) to a bawdy, and just a bit naughty, "Big Spender" from Sweet Charity, Bassey clearly delights her audience. She closes her concert with a heartfelt "I Who Have Nothing" and a surprising cover of the Foreigner hit "I Want to Know What Love Is." She exits the stage and returns to a standing ovation having donned a feathered and glittered duster over her beautiful evening gown, thrilling her audience with three encore numbers, "This Is My Life," "I Wish You Love," and "I Am What I Am."

Then, there is more! During the 1997 tour, the BBC caught some wonderfully candid moments starting with a post-concert party thrown by close friend Ivana Trump. (There is a surprise on the guest list.) She chats on the train, prepares for her appearance at the Taj Mahal, works on a music video with the Propellerheads, attends a dinner party near her home in Monte Carlo, and prepares for the Antwerp concert you just saw. Great DVD........2004-07-18

This is a great DVD, well done, and classic Shirley Bassey. However if you are looking for something a bit different I would like to suggest Superstars of Love, which they are calling Super Estrellas Del Amor. It features Shirley Bassey, Matt Monro and Demis Rouss. It has 6 Bassey Live concert hits on the DVD (in English), and 5 Spanish hits on the CD, plus you also get Matt Monro and Demis Roussos. I will certainly not sell or trade the Divas are Forever DVD, but I seem to watch the Super Estrellas Del Amor more often and listen to the CD. Why, I do not know, since I do not speak spanish, but the CD just sounds great!

of Shirley would love this concert, which
features all of her big songs. It's absolutely
awe-inspiring to hear such great vocal prowess
from someone who is shall we say, not a kid

For those of us that love "remember when" packages, Universal Music will be releasing a CD plus a bonus DVD featuring Shirley Bassey, Demis Roussos and Matt Monro. (...) I am sure Amazon will carry this product. It includes on the DVD Live concert peformances of Diamonds Are Forever, Goldfinger, Hey Jude, and several others.

Dame Bassey Does It Again With A Fun & Memorable Performance.......2003-05-13

This is an EXCELLENT DVD, and an excellent example of the quintessential Shirley Bassey. She proves once again that she's the best female vocalist in the last 50 years. Miss Bassey looks physically fit in the video, and much younger than her years. (She's 60 in this video) She's energetic and playful, and her voice just keeps getting better. When you see her do "Big Spender", "Kiss Me Honey Honey Kiss Me", and hear her belt out "I Am What I Am", you realize that Dame Bassey is one grandmother that ISN'T sitting at home knitting and baking cookies! I highly recommend this video for people that are just becoming familiar with Shirley Basseys phenominal talent, and for collectors as well. There's also a lot of behind the scenes extras, and the making of the "History Repeating" music video with the Propellerheads.

From the first song she sings onstage to the very last song, she captured my undivided attention with the majesty of her voice, her artistry, and poise. This DVD is a must-have for all fans who love Shirley. Her performance on this DVD proves that she is indeed "THE BEST OF THE BEST"!
