I have this on VHS and I can't believe that the DVD is a lesser Quality. Shame on who ever let this slip by. This is an amazing concert that should have been preserved the right way. Even the DVD cover is Cheesy. The Video jumps up and down through out the whole dvd. I think I might take my original VHS and have it transfered myself.

If you are a guitar player and you haven't seen this, you are torturing yourself for every second that goes by in your temporarily "spiritually" unfulfilled life. I'm really not too crazy about Coryell because it looks and sounds like he's on drugs or something (his performance is 2.5/5 stars) but between the blazing' beauty of John and Paco, the only word that comes remotely close to summing it up is WOW!

It is HANDS DOWN THE FASTEST GUITAR PLAYING that I've ever heard, but it's not just speed that makes this what it is. All the players, even Larry, play beautifully executed melodic substance that makes you feel like you are ascending to the heavens!

If anyone complains about the quality of the film they can take it and stick it where it hurts because they have to realize that this was a 'made for TV special capture IN THE 70's'. It's obviously not like watching the latest Peter Gabriel DVD but you should be so into it that is doesn't matter.

When I die I will be buried with this DVD (just kidding)

5 out of 5 stars DVD meeting of the spirits.......2006-06-17

I do not understand the rating given on this DVD although I haven't seen the American version of it. I have the European one and it is perfect. It is just stunning to see the power of John Mclaughlin driving the guitaristic skills of the 2 others, by constantly pushing them in new directions.

I highly recommend it (at least the European version, not shaky and with a good sound). Buy it on Amazon.fr for example and watch it on a dezoned DVD player:-).

3 out of 5 stars Big question mark over DVD transfer.......2006-05-03

This concert is an amazing concert. No question of that. Very strange about the DVD transfer. It a bit like the old projector footage that jumps slightly here and there. I recorded this concert from UK TV (ch 4) in 1987 and the jumping wasnt there in that broadcast. The clarity of the actual image is ok though (on the DVD). The sound is hissy and there is a background noise, it almost sounds like the tape machine motor hum. Its not noticable watching it on the TV, only when I heard it through headphones.

Some people say that it isnt watchable. I dont agree, it is still very watchable, and you stlll can see its an amazing concert.
