Being a huge Dusty Springfield fan -- I was thrilled with the selection and quality of performances on this DVD. Dusty tackles different genre in her unique and captivating way. I'm hoping there are similiar vintage releases in the future. You won't be dissappointed in this DVD.

No one has ever been a bigger Dusty Springfield fan than I. That said, this is one of the most amateurish, thrown together "salute" DVD's I've ever seen. If it weren't for the rare footage of Dusty's TV appearances, this little disc would have found its way into File 13 by now.

It's "hosted" by 2 people who act as though they had nothing more than a nodding aquaintance with Ms. Springfield - Petula Clark and B. J. Thomas. It just begs the question "why them?".

Save your money and buy the French & Saunders video which has most of the same clips plus Dusty HERSELF! Yep, she participates in this humourous banter with the gals who put together AbFab. It's much more enlightening to hear about Dusty's life and career from Dusty herself rather than a couple of aging contemporaries. It's a real treasure since it was one of Dusty's last public appearances.

This DVD is just a fluff piece of cheaply produced drivel with some great old clips. Do yourself a favour - buy the French & Saunders video instead.

the Best Dusty collection ever.......2005-07-08

I have been a Network DJ since 1970 and this Dvd is loaded with Great quality songs. Picture and Sound are exceptional!!! I had the pleasure of knowing Dusty Springfield and interviewing her on several occasions.This is the Dvd for you if you are a Dusty fan or enjoy great music like "Son of a Preacher man". This is the one to own.

IT'S NOT LIVE, IT'S MEMOREX!.......2005-04-04

Anyone familiar with Dusty Springfield's catalog of hits - "Son of a Preacher Man," "Wishin' and Hopin'," and "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me," among others - knows the husky-voiced singer was an excellent interpreter of great tunes. "Reflections" is a compilation of seventeen complete renditions of pop hits the singer presented in a variety of television appearances. Sadly, this DVD tends to emphasize one of Springfield's shortcomings, her inability to capture an audience with a boffo live performance, since in most of the clips selected she lip synchs to the original recordings instead of offering a live variation, suggesting her strength lay in the recording studio rather than on the concert stage. Bits of interviews with the star are intermingled with the musical numbers, but far superior insight into the singer and her career is offered by one of her contemporaries, the more talented Petula Clark, who - ironically - always performs live, putting a new spin on her old hits. This DVD missed its mark by leaving me wanting a little less Springfield and a lot more Clark.

Leaves You Wanting More.......2004-01-06

From the other reviews, I expected this to be largely a compilation of lip-synching performances, but that's not really the case. Many are live, and one is a duet with Engelbert Humperdinck, and it's great to have several songs--"Since I Fell For You," "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," and "People Get Ready"--that don't appeaar on the albums. I also don't object to the commentary by B. J. Thomas and Petula Clark, both of whom are clearly fans. Yes, the comments are sometimes superficial, but Petula, at least, does provide some special insights into backstage Dusty, and there's at least one anecdote concerning San Remo that I hadn't heard before. No, what we have is fine, especially the comments from Dusty herself, although I would love to see more. And that's the problem; I can't help but feel that the producers of this DVD could have come up with more of the goods. I'm not just thinking of performance clips, although her duet with Scot Walker on "Let It Be Me" or anything with the Springfields or the Pet Shop Boys would have been welcome; rather, I'd like to have seen this material coupled with the 1999 BBC documentary. It's a marvelous 58 minutes that includes commentary from close associates like Vicki Wickham and Pat Rhodes. Oh, well, I guess that's for another DVD. In the meantime, I'm happy to have "Refelctions"--as magical an hour as you're likely to spend with Britain's greatest female pop singer.
