I love Fleetwood Mac & Say You Will is one of my favorites of their recordings. I also love when artists share their process & let you in to see the decisions & details of how it all happens. Destiny Rules is a great DVD revealing this insight. I wish each scene was longer. Knowing there is 500 hours makes me want to see much more. Favorite bits: hearing Stevie's demos of her 4 new songs, watching Stevie & Lindsey come up with vocal harmonies, hearing real conversations between friends & band members with so much at stake, hearing the writers stand up for their songs & having last say on the arrangements. Non musicians think the band plays & sings the song & they're done move on to the next song. But making an album is like making a film & there are thousands of things to decide & narrowing down infinite choices is the art. (Now release the DVD version for musicians we can take it.) 5 out of 5 stars Fleetwood Mac Revealed.......2007-04-30

Hard to believe that the band would allow the public to have this kind of access into what goes on behind the scenes. So glad they have. After all of these years, Stevie and Lindsey get under each other's skin and have some magical musical vocal collaborations (PeaceKeeper). Sad that this dvd doesn't focus on Lindsey's songs more as they are exceptional. Instead we see the band in the studio working on Stevie's songs mostly. Stevie was right about one thing, glad it was only a single cd. It should have been a Lindsey solo project if you ask me. Stevie's best song here is "Smile at You" which she dug out of her old song bag as an answer to Lindsey's "Come" song, "Think of me sweet darling every time you don't come." Lindsey can be mean spirited for sure. Stevie responds, "My first mistake was to smile at you." She really could sing and write great stuff in her day.

4 out of 5 stars A great pic for diehard fans of "The Mac" and Stevie Nicks.......2007-02-12

If you like the raw & uncut type of footage, which is so popular in this age of reality series AND you are a true, diehard lover of "The Mac," go for it. Much of "Destiny Rules" is centered around the creative differences of Stevie & Lindsey, and what they each believed "Say You Will" should be as a finished product. Stevie's side wins. She and her people know what they're doing, when it comes to selling records (amongst other things).
Though I would NEVER criticize his talent, the less pleasant side of Lindsey (after all these years!) shows through & through at times. At one point, Stevie asked the cameraman to stop filming, because of an ugly disagreement that started between the two over her songs/production. There is some neat stuff on here, though. Since Mick has been clean and sober, I've always loved to see his interviews, and hear his perspective on things.
Of course, the music is wonderful. At one point, Mick commented that he believed Stevie's material on this album was some of her "best" since the first couple of albums she was on with Fleetwood Mac. I would agree that it's some pretty excellent stuff.

4 out of 5 stars A look into the making of Say You Will.......2005-08-10

Destiny Rules features some great footage of songs being worked on for the 2003 Fleetwood Mac album "Say You Will" as well as some rehearsals for their upcoming tour of that year. I could do without some of the political hoopla and needless bickering. I would have loved more musical footage and rare stuff that didn't make the album. The documentary did include a song not on the Say You Will album called "I am Waiting" which was breathtaking and should have made the cut. I enjoyed the photo shoot footage for the album cover and innersleeve, wish more of this footage had been included as well. This is a nice documentation into the world of the Mac and it is always nice to see more DVDS on my favorite band.

5 out of 5 stars ENCHANTING REUNION.......2005-07-17

I must say this was fabulous. I am listening to it as I write this review. It is a detailed account of the making of "SAY YOU WILL" and of the bands reuniting for this album, and all the very very hard work and creativity in motion. I have been a fan of Fleetwood Mac for the past 30 years and this is a must have for all of you die hard fans. I never miss a concert in Northern California. Fleetwood Mac don't ever BREAK THE CHAIN, you are here to stay, in my home and in our hearts. My daughter is also a Fan since she was born in 1996. Stevie we will be seeing you on the 30th of July in Concord. Thanks for all the years of JOY you have brought to my family and friends. ~R~
