Originally it was entitled as 'Get Back' showing the Beatles rehearsing, jamming and performing for their new songs. This is the only documentary film released officially and was then changed to be called 'Let It Be'. It marks the ending of the career of the Beatles (John Lennon, Paul McCarthy, George Harrison, & Ringo Starr). A message about the career of the Beatles told by the Beatles themselves. This video has won the 1966 Grammy Awards for "Best Music Video, long form". The Beatles had, as Paul said at the end of the video, "united for somehow, some way". The band was filmed rehearsing and recording songs. It tried to show the creative process of making a Beatles album. But it was at that time when the Beatles were all fighting with each other, so it really showed how the Beatles were breaking up. They argue with each other and are concerned with their own individual songs, rather than the group songs. However, they weren't always fighting and it gives a look at the process of making the songs and working them so they would sound better musically. Bear in paradise whatever they are called. Get them off of Amazon. I paid over 55 bucks thinking thinking I was getting something special. Obvious bootleg. The freeking pictures and all are wrong, etc. etc. etc. These scums even lied-special book included etc. etc. Sorry folks for writing in haste and not taking the time to critique as properly but I am freaking pissed. Don't ever purchase from these bloodsuckers. Bought a couple of decently priced ones as gifts, at least they were not bootlegs and the price was decent.

Let it be Limited Collector's Edition.......2007-04-24

This is hardly a collectors edition. It is a bootleg copy of the VHS. No other information or liner notes. Sound and picture are bad. But you get to see the Beatle's create some fine tunes. The rooftop concert is worth owning the video. Just wish I could have gotten one of better quality. 5 stars for content, 2 stars for quality of video.

i've purchased three of these (2 off of ebay and 1 here) and i can say that not all 'copies' of let it be are created equal. the best i've come across so far is the 2 disc version with all the additional footage. so if you're going to get one make sure it's that one.

Look at the "see all my reviews" by the only reviewer to give this product 5 stars. It is hard not to get the impression that such 5* reviews are consistent with those that would have been written by the vendor offering for sale illegal bootleg copies of DVD material. As such, I do not find his/her reviews credible at all and wonder why Amazon allow them to stand.

Great songs by great bands....

Watch Ian Gillian totally screw up Highway Star. He wasn't lip-syncing this one. He starts screaming about Steve McQueen and Mighty Mouse before the chorus!

Ann Wilson was in top form in this awesome performance of Barracuda. She missed a few mouth cues though. Looks like Howard Leese needed a little more practice at this point to synchronize his guitar tricks with the playback.

Joan Jett looks hot as usual. As do the original Blackhearts look like nerds.

Stone the Crows? Who is this band and why does that woman frighten me so much??

Throw in some Alice Cooper and Motorhead along with the rest of the 22 vids and you got perfect TV watching for your next Headbangers Ball party!

This Show it's just great... Roonie Hawkins Birthday Celebration is one big bang-rock & roll-blues extravaganzza... but, as always, it's the Killer, Jerry Lee Lewis who stole the show... since his introduction to Mr. Hawkins to his performance of "Great Balls of Fire" and "Whole Lotta Shakin", Jerry Lee rock's the viewers brains out!

And of course, there's the others musician acts...

It contains great extras, and the documentary about the birthday of rock & roll it's just great!

Turn it up!.......2006-01-24

I was fortunate enough to be at this concert. There are two live concerts that stand out in my 65 years, this one and a Bob Seger Concert in the 80's. I did not think it was possible to put that incredible concert on Dvd, but they came darn close. The last performances of Rick Denko and Carl Perkins, the incredible guitar work from Jeff Healey and one of the tightest Bands around. The Romp has started to leave Ronnie (at 60) but he can still blow the walls out. For those of you that are not familiar with Massey Hall, it's Old, in Toronto and as Gordon Lighfoot once stated "the best acoustics around". The performances by Larry Gowan, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Jeff Healey are fantastic. This is a good, no a great dvd. I was just at Ronnies final Concert at Massey (Dec/05) and he has always been the consumat entertainer and really, really knows how "Rock and Roll" should be played. I am grateful to have been at the concert and this dvd comes really close to letting you experience what was "One Helluva Concert".

The Good
The DVD kicks off with "Let it Rock", a performance by the All-Star Band (Lewis, Hawkins, Perkins, The Band, Healey, and Gowan). These rock veterans show the young'uns how it's done. Jerry Lee Lewis plays the piano with such ease, as does Healy with his trademark seated guitar playing. Despite his sixty years, Hawkins is in great voice with his deep vocals tones. This is how you start a show my friends. The All-Star Band follows up with the blues number "Down in the Alley". It's loaded with twangy slide guitar, soulful piano playing, warm brass, and emotional vocals courtesy of Hawkins. For the group's third and final performance together they choose the high-energy "Bo Diddley".

The Band injects dual drums, crazy key smashing, and vocal melodies into "Remedy". They follow that with `The Weight" and "Rock and Roll Shoes". Lawrence Gowan contributes with three songs. He breaks out some sweet 12 string guitar tones on "Time for Love" that compliments his vocals well. He gets behind the keys for a rousing version of "Good Golly Miss Molly", and stays behind them for a soulful version of "Long Tall Sally". Ronnie Hawkins takes to stage five times throughout the DVD, and each performance is flawless. Carl Perkins uses plenty of 50s style double stops during his solo work on "Matchbox", and also get the crowd on their feet with "Blue Suede Shoes".

Jerry Lee Lewis isn't exactly the Wildman he was in his younger days (he's 70 at this time), but he can still hit all the notes and his signature yodels on "Whole Lotta Shakin'" and "Great Balls of Fire". Jeff Healey backs him up with some phenomenal guitar work. The DVD bonuses include a music video by Ronnie Hawkins featuring The Band for "Days Go By". The video itself features backstage clips from the big show. Also included is the documentary "At the Crossroads of Rock and Roll", which not only chronicles the concert, but also gives you a little history of how and when the rockabilly craze got started. It's quite in-depth as it goes into the artists lives and explores the controversy that they possibly stole the style of music from the black culture of that time.

The Bad
Not a damn thing!

The Verdict
This DVD lives up to it's billing as "the rock event of the decade". You can't deny the musicianship and talent of all the artists involved. This isn't necessarily music or artists that I've listened to in the past, but after watching this DVD I'm going back to explore more of their past work.

If you love rare footage of some of the greatest rockers ever, then Let it Rock Volume 2 is for you dude. You get 22 videos of lip-synching artists playing different TV stages in front of live audiences. Kind of like the European version of the old Solid Gold show. This is goofy at times, but then again there are some fabulous songs and footage. Some highlights are:

1. Motorhead and Girlschool on stage together performing 'Please Don't Touch'. Check out Philthy Animal grooving along by the mike stand because the Girlschool drummer took over his kit.

2. Pat Benatar performs "Love is a Battlefield". Not one of my favorite Patty B songs. But any footage of her is worth the price of admission.

3. Joan Jett is singing her biggest hit. This is way before she shaved her head and dyed it blond. This is the Joan we all remember fondly

4. Motorhead sings their trademark 'Motorhead'

5. Twisted Sister performs "We're not gonna take it" on a stage so small everyone os on top of one another.

6. Steppenwolf performs a song other than 'Born to be Wild' or 'Magic Carpet Ride'. Can you guess what it could be?

7. Johny Winter jams out Johny B. Goode.

8. The Who performs 'Magic Bus'. They rock but get a load of Roger's hair!

9. Deep Purple!!!!!!!

10. Mott the Hoople, Humble Pie, and Ten Years After give great performances.

Very Entertaining Glimpse Into Hoobastank's World.......2004-12-06

Exactly a week before I saw Hoobastank live for the first time, their first DVD, "Let It Out," was released. Being pumped for the concert and pursuaded by the nice price, I scooped this up. Music DVD's are always fun, and Hoobastank's is no exception. Aside from standard music videos and live footage, plenty of other bonuses are included. Along with the video collection, which spans all their videos up to "Same Direction," (oddly enough, it ommits their newest, "Disappear," which surfaced before the DVD) guitarist Dan Estrin and drummer Chris Hesse contribute very informative and often amusing commentary. In the bonus section, there is even an "alternate" (I use it loosely) video of "The Reason" starring a crazy homeless guy that serves as half parody and half making-of-the-video. And as if that's not enough, the director's cut of "The Reason" also appears, although not much is changed, aside from a bit of violence and the omission of the sirens at the end (which I actually liked, a good lead into the next video). Four live performances -- "Crawling In The Dark," "Let It Out," "Pieces" and "Running Away" -- are all very energetic, but unfortunately most of the performances are intercut with various shows, which can be a bit annoying and take away from the value of it. A little parody of the writing process for their infamous "The Reason" again glimpses into Hoobastank's unique sense of humor (where Estrin gives the term "Let It Out" a new meaning). There is also a half-hour "On The Road" documentary (also with commentary) to round out the DVD. Overall, it's a very entertaining package. If you love the band and share their sense of humor (something which they incorporated a lot into their older music), you can definitely appreciate this. Hopefully, a full-length live release will come someday.

I had edition 1 playing at our club and we get such great feedback about it, I am sure our take across the bar has gone up dramatically since we started playing it. I was invited to see the launch of Vol. 2 "Let's Hear It For The Boys" and instantly ordered several copies for our club so we can offset them and have different dancers on every screen. This DVD wll be awesome on our Male Revue nights for the ladies and a must have for our gay dance party events, I hear it is already a buzz in the gay community, well done, great DVD at a great price!
