It may sound like a gimmick--The Greatest '70s Cop Shows is a compilation of first episodes from Starsky and Hutch, Police Woman, S.W.A.T., The Rookies, and Charlie's Angels--but this DVD anthology really opens one's eyes to the look and feel of dramatic television during the so-called Me Decade. Except for Angels, which never wavered from its self-mocking, glossy action/stiff exposition playbook, these cop-program debuts (four of them from Aaron Spelling) import much of their fluid camera movement, multiple points-of-view, and dynamic, often wordless storytelling from the era's rough-and-tumble action movies (e.g., The French Connection). Which is to say these shows may be dumb but not necessarily cheesy (except Angels' post-modern cheese). There is a lot to admire about the opening ambush in S.W.A.T.'s "The Killing Ground," the hard-boiled camaraderie of Police Woman's "The End Game," and especially the reckless physicality and ironic jokes of Starsky and Hutch's "Savage Sunday." --Tom Keogh

Content includes basics on tai chi chi kung, integrates self care acupressure into a 20 minute set for the chair, a 5 minute body tune up with anatomical illustration and research, plus an animated bonus chapter, totally 50 minutes in 7 chapters. The acupressure methods in this video were reported in scientific literature in 2003, as having shaved 3 weeks from expected hospital stays on patients at Stanford University Hospital. We are pleased to include this material in a bonus chapter.

Seventy-five years after the fact, this remains a fascinating visual testament to human persistence and the awesome variety of our world. At times it's difficult to believe the sheer daring of the Byrd mission and the ingenious ways the team overcame life-threatening obstacles. A ground-breaking documentary that brings a heroic, often overlooked chapter of history to life.

Remarkable story and visuals.......2007-05-11

I bought this because I am interested in the story of Byrd and his dog, a Smooth Fox Terrier named Igloo, who accompanied him to both Poles on Byrd's expeditions. It was great to see this little guy in such an alien environment as Antartica. But the experience of seeing what these remarkable men accomplished in the most unforgiving of settings was most memorable. The film won an Oscar for Best Cinematography in 1930, and one can see why watching this footage.

stunning camera work & fascinating history.......2006-12-05

a strange hybrid of documentary and travelog and potboiler docudrama; its clear that genres were still defining themselves when this movie was made. while much of the "plotline" is dubious, the heroism of the figures involved is not, and the camera work under undeniably terrifying conditions is nothing short of spectacular. i wont call this a great movie but id recommend it to anyone.
