Daryl Hall & John Oates - Video Collection: 7 Big Ones

Starring:Daryl Hall, John Oates
Studio: Image Entertainment
Product Type: DVD
Editorial Review:
Amazon.com
While Michael Jackson's Thriller was making pop-music history, Daryl Hall and John Oates were topping the pop and R&B charts with the best blue-eyed soul since the Righteous Brothers. Culled from the pioneer days of MTV, this seven-hit video collection offers timeless proof that H&O's music endures, even if their microbudget videos now seem like flotsam from a bygone era. Poorly remastered, with a 5.1 Dolby remix that muddies up the original recordings (better to choose the PCM stereo option), these simple performance videos reveal all the strengths and weaknesses of '80s pop's most dynamic duo: Hall's vocals are the essence of soulful perfection, while Oates mugs it up with all the charisma of a toy poodle. The musicianship is superb (guitarist G.E. Smith would soon be fronting the Saturday Night Live band), but the videos are silly and crudely produced. Needless to say, this too-brief collection is for die-hard fans with a desire to stroll down memory lane. --Jeff Shannon

Kids may enjoy the slapstick of this modern reworking of the old Our Gang comedies, but parents who grew up watching them on TV (or grandparents who saw them at theaters) will wonder why anyone would want to be involved in this pathetic remake. Directed by Penelope Spheeris, the film takes look-alike kids and casts them as Spanky, Alfalfa, Buckwheat, and the rest, minus any sense of what made the old Hal Roach comedies funny. Instead of kids being kids, these are kids doing shtick while recycling such old bits as the He-Man Woman Haters Club, the kids' go-cart race, and Spanky and Alfalfa dressing as girls. Devoid of charm or wit. --Marshall Fine

Great Fun for Kids of All Ages........2007-06-12
OK, yes, its a great movie for kids, but I think its even better for adults. Like all the great, classic "kids" humor (vintage Disney, Hanna-Barbera, Sponge Bob, etc.), its really targeted for adults, or at least I believe, you have to be an adult to get all of the fantastic humor.
This movie reminded me of my own kids at their funniest. The attitude seemed perfect. For this, I'm not sure who to credit other than Penelope Spheeris, but all of the kids acting in this movie seemed relaxed, fun-loving, and outrageously humorous. Not to take anything away form the "mature" actors - There were some fantasic cameos including Mel Brooks, Reba McEntire, Whoopi Goldberg, Darryl Hanna, George Wendt, and many others.
"If you were my children, I'd punish you."
"If we were your children, we'd punish ourselves."
"What is your bank account number?"
"Seven."
"Seven?"
"Four?"
"Quick! Call 911."
"But I don't know the number."
"Me neither."
When your kids aren't around, take it out, watch it yourself, and have a good laugh.
Little Rascals review.......2007-06-02
I do Family Day Care and the children love this dvd. It has good comedy, especially when a couple of the boys get caught up in a ballet concert. The kids all have wonderful personalities and the antics they get up to, is entertaining.
Full of fun!.......2007-05-15
"The Little Rascals" has been my unrivalled favourite movie for the last ten years. I literally know it line by line and still have a good laugh everytime I watch it. It is the ONE movie that everyone in my family agrees on, so now that we are growing up and there's a new generation of kids coming along, I bought the DVD again so that they can be a true part of our family. Before agreeing to marry my fiancé, I had him watch the movie and I watched his response. Now I know that there's still a kid inside of him and the wedding is being planned. I couldn't marry someone who didn't admire Spanky's spunk and Alfalfa's audacity in bringing a GURL (yes, gUrl) into the clubhouse. This is a new classic and a must-have in your DVD collection!
Oh man.......2007-05-13
Such a great movie. I love this movie.
This is the best movie in my life.
Classy lines with such cute children.
Clean Wholesome movie.......2007-05-09
This movie is absolutely funny. It is great for all ages. My daughter is 14 and still loves to watch it.

Billed as "the day music changed history," the Live Aid concerts of July 13, 1985, were held to raise money to fight the horrifying famines sweeping Africa. The brainchild of Bob Geldof and representing the efforts of countless musicians and technicians, Live Aid was a genuine and inspiring effort to help the victims of an overwhelming calamity. Twenty years after the twin concerts (one in London, one in Philadelphia) were broadcast worldwide, the 4-DVD treatment furthers the cause, with proceeds going toward the Band Aid Trust.
The DVD set opens with a heartbreaking documentary on the crisis, followed by videos of the two hit songs that represented the collaborative nature of Geldof's effortsBand Aid' s "Do They Know It's Christmas?" and USA for Africa's "We Are the World." Since Live Aid was never intended to be released in a recorded format, preservation of TV footage has been unreliable, resulting in some glaring omissions. Led Zeppelin's semi-reunion doesn't appear, and neither does a legendary session with Bob Dylan, Ron Wood, and Keith Richards. Some sets by performers who were popular at the time may inspire either nostalgic glee or head-scratching (Kiki Dee fans, you know who you are). Sprinkled amid these performances are a couple real gems, including a performance by Run DMC, the event's sole representative of the ascendant rap movement. Much of the music here was a passing fad, but the sentiment that brought it all together is timeless. -- Ryan Boudinot
Description
Any music fan can tell you exactly where they were on July 13th, 1985. There had never been a concert event of such magnitude-the biggest names in music performing in a concert broadcast live from 2 continents to an audience of over 1.5 billion. It is estimated that 85% of the world's television sets were tuned in to Live Aid that day. Now, for the first time on home video, you can own the concert that was arguably the biggest rock event in history-featuring David Bowie, Eric Clapton, Madonna, Paul McCartney, Sting, The Who, U2, Neil Young, and many, many more. Over 10 hours of performances in a premium-packaged 4-DVD set. Royalties will benefit Band Aid Trust, which continues to provide direct hunger relief in Africa.

A Moment In Time..........2007-06-05
Perhaps I'm being too generous by giving the LIVE AID dvd set 5-stars. As another reviewer pointed out, many performances are left off of this set. However, some of the biggest acts of the 80s are shown performing their monster hits with the exception of TINA TURNER, WHAM, and THE THOMPSON TWINS. Although these performers do appear with other singers/musicians, the footage of them performing their hits was either destroyed or lost. I'm sure there might be other examples of groups/singers who appear on the LIVE AID dvds and they're not performing their big hits, but, as far as I can tell, most of them are.
The fact that there's even a dvd set available is a miracle in itself.
A booklet that comes with the dvd set explains the idea behind LIVE AID and how BOB GELDOF (singer of THE BOOMTOWN RATS) saw a BBC News report on television in 1984 (the news footage is included at the start of dvd #1) about the famine going on in Africa/Ethiopia. He wanted to do something about it and formed BAND AID in the UK. This in turn formed U.S.A FOR AFRICA in the US, which ultimately led to the LIVE AID concert which happened on July 13, 1985. The concert was filmed by MTV, ABC and the BBC, and aired on its respective channel with an estimated 1.5 billion viewers around the world.
According to the dvd's producer, Jill Sinclair, Geldof wanted the concert to be shown only once and not recorded. ABC took Geldof at his word and destroyed the footage so it could never be re-broadcast again. The BBC ignored him but lost some of the footage, while the videos that weren't lost, sat collecting dust. MTV found over 100 tapes of b-roll of the concert and so Sinclair, and the rest of the LIVE AID dvd team, combined MTV's footage of the LIVE AID concert, with the remaining BBC footage and that's how we get this remarkable 4-dvd set! So bravo to Jill Sinclair and the dvd team.
The concert took place at Wembley Stadium in London and JFK Stadium in Philadelphia. The dvds go back and forth from Wembley to JFK, but transitions smoothly, so there aren't any jarring cuts in between the musical acts. Considering that this concert was recorded using analog equipment and was meant for a one-time only showing, the footage itself has been restored as best as it could be and it looks pretty good (sharp, vibrant color, etc.). There are some instances where wavy-horizontal lines appear on close-up shots on some of the performances, and Sinclair explains in the booklet that this is a phenomenon called "microphany," which happens when the "camera lens is affected by great volume." The lines aren't that distracting since they aren't colored, and they don't distort the picture, but they're just noticeable. It only happens once in a while and according to the booklet, only on some UK performances.
Along with the performances, the LIVE AID dvd set also includes extras:
DVD #1
**BBC TV NEWS REPORT
**BAND AID - DO THEY KNOW IT'S CHRISTMAS - music video
**U.S.A FOR AFRICA - WE ARE THE WORLD - "..."
DVD #4-(includes performances recorded at different locations/times and either broadcast that day or never televised)
**INXS - What You Need; Don't Change
**B.B. KING - Why I Sing The Blues; Don't Answer The Door; Rock Me Baby
**ASHFORD & SIMPSON with TEDDY PENDERGRASS - Reach Out And Touch(Somebody's Hand)
**RUN DMC - King Of Rock
**CLIFF RICHARD - A World Of Difference
**DAVID BOWIE & MICK JAGGER - Dancing In The Streets (this is actually the music video; according to wikipedia Bowie and Jagger were supposed to do a live duet on the song, with Bowie in London and Jagger in Philadelphia, but because of technical difficulties it couldn't be done)
**DOCUMENTARY - Food And Trucks And Rock 'n' Roll
Instead of a scene selection menu, the dvds have "search by artist" that lets you go right to the start of that performer's set (which will then play the rest of the concert from that point on, rather than going back to the menu). You also have the option to just play the Wembley performances or the Philadelphia perfomances.
If you're too young to remember this concert, you might miss the significance of it. But it's still worth watching. Like Woodstock was to a generation before it, LIVE AID showed the world that young people could come together, through music, and collectively believe in something that could change the world. If you do remember this moment in time, watching this concert will bring back many memories.
Some of the stand out performances on these dvds, IMO:
FREDDIE MERCURY/QUEEN - The rapport between the audience and Mercury is incredible. He launches into an impromptu "scat" singing certain vowels to the audience and they sing it back to him, verbatim
ELTON JOHN & GEORGE MICHAEL - John playing the piano, while Michael belts out John's "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me"
PATTI LABELLE - The soul diva belting out her version of Lennon's "Imagine" and then going into "Forever Young." Towards the end of the latter song, she puts down the microphone, walking up to the front of the stage and continues singing...and you can still hear her voice, barely audible, but powerful enough to be heard over the cheering crowd and the back-up singers
TINA TURNER & MICK JAGGER - duet on "State Of Shock" Turner matches Jagger move for move and lip for lip
So even though this set is not complete, it still deserves 5-stars.
Blast from the past.......2007-05-18
Great buy!!Like walking back in time...This will bring back memories for lots of people..
Live Hair.......2007-05-14
I was not lucky enough to see the concert when it happened, but am glad to be able to now. The music is great, but it's fun to see the hair styles - mullet city! My daughter and I think Queen steals the show!
First Live Aid.......2007-03-24
My family and I watched the first live aid on TV. We we're a bit shocked to see that Robert Page of Led Zeppelin was not included on the 4 disk set.
So many recollections !.......2007-02-16
I was a teenager when the show was in the air and I could only record four hours on a VHS tape.
Now ten hours on DVD !
OK, it was originally a sixteen hours live but it's so good to watch this twenty years after. Madonna was a young singer, Freddy Mercury was there, etc...
So many recollections !

Description
A dream that became a song... an event... and a worldwide movement! See the making of a milestone as 45 of the biggest names in American popular music combine to record a song to help alleviate the suffering of starving millions in Africa and America. Narrated by Jane Fonda, this program provides a behind-the-scenes look at the night of January 28, 1985, to provide more than a moving collection of words, pictures and music - it's a living piece of history.
Customer Reviews:
Great Behind-The-Scenes..........2007-05-15
This is a great behind-the-scenes look at one of the biggest musical events of the twentieth century.
The documentary WE ARE THE WORLD: THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG (on dvd #1) is narrated and hosted by Jane Fonda and appears to have been made shortly after the historic recording session, which happened on January 28, 1985. Showing the celebrities arriving, meeting and greeting, and of course the recording of the song "We Are The World," as well as pre-writing and arrangement stages that took place days before(between Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie and Quincy Jones), viewers get a fly-on-the-wall experience of what went on that night.
It really is remarkable to see so many artist from different generations and musical styles combining forces for a greater cause. Where else would you see Bob Dylan, Diana Ross, Kenny Rogers, The Pointer Sisters, Paul Simon, Tina Turner, and Ray Charles, among many others, singing together on one song? The documentary shows the actual breakdown of the recording of the chorus parts, the solos and the very short rehearsal sessions that took place that one night. The recording was done in three parts: the chorus, the line of solo artists that we see in the video, and additional solos by artists that were included after. The actual edited music video is also included.
On dvd #2 there is a ten-year anniversary documentary/interview with Harry Belafonte and this is curious to watch. As another reviewer pointed out, during this documentary Belafonte continues to point out how he got the idea and wanted to do something about the famine plaguing Ethiopia etc., but never once does he mention Bob Geldof. For those of you who remember that time, it was Bob Geldof (BOOMTOWN RATS) and Midge Ure(ULTRA-VOX) who started this whole thing with the song "Do They Know It's Christmas" that had many British singers/musicians(as well as American artists Jody Watley and Kool & the Gang and Irish band U2) contributing their talents and collaborating on that single. The British/Irish/American supergroup was called "BAND AID" and was created to help with relief aid to those starving in Ethiopia. The single "DO THEY KNOW..." was released in December 1984 and went to number one almost a month and a half before WE ARE THE WORLD was recorded.
It really has nothing to do with the enjoyment of watching these documentaries or saying which was better BAND AID or USA FOR AFRICA...and really small potatoes in the grand scheme of things...it's just a little troubling to see someone taking credit for a historic event without even mentioning Geldof or Band Aid (who historically were the pre-cursors to "We Are The World"). The documentary also includes the problems that happened with logistics and controversy of why some of the aid money never reached its destination that surrounded USA FOR AFRICA and talks about HANDS ACROSS AMERICA.
Additional footage is also included on dvd #2 including a live 1986 "American Music Awards" performance of WE ARE THE WORLD; Belafonte, Jackson, Richie and Jones accepting various awards for the song; and the "Live Aid" concert performance of that song. Also included is a booklet that gives an hour-by-hour play-by-play description of the recording session, which is a reprint of a 1985 LIFE magazine cover story.
Unless you actually remember this moment in time, or perhaps a huge fan of one of the artists who appear on WATW, this might not be enjoyable to watch.
It's the best.......2007-05-13
Seeing this song and the making of it (behind the scenes) reminds me of the good things about my generation, the best things. Admitedly we did spawn the "me generation" but once in a while we did rock the establishment, we accelerated the end of the Vietnam conflict, and we did do some good altruistic things. This song and the USA for Africa cause and artists like Bob Dylan are testimony to that.
brings back good memories.......2007-05-06
I got this and watched and it brought back such good memories. All these famous personalities banding together for a cause. I love the behind the scenes. Just a really good thorough DVD and then of course the actual video! AND I loved seeing my Main Squeeze Steve Perry!!!!
Awesome .......2007-04-05
We all have to come together and help each other no matter what position you are in.This is what it's all about you don't have to be a star.It makes me feel good to help others so let's not forget it's better to give than receive.
Pleasantly Surprised.......2007-02-01
Although this DVD is a little dated in production values, it is a surprisingly pleasant trip down memory lane of the biggest musical event of the 1980's.
Sadly, there is no reference to the event that inspired USA for Africa being Bob Geldorf's Band Aid (you'd swear America invented everything...), and it treats We Are The World as a stand alone triumph. But that is more a comment about the producer's creative judgement rather than the talent in the studio.
However, this DVD takes you into the studio and allows you access to the world's biggest stars trying to record this epic song at 2am after an industry function.
It's awesome to watch Michael Jackson and Lionel Ritchie writing the original score and Quincy Jones somehow piecing together so many different musical singing styles to blend together into a final mix. Who else would choose Dionne Warwick and Willie Nelson to sing together!!
It's amazing how big these stars were at the time, and how much today's "artists" pale by comparison. Incredible how great Ray Charles was on the project - and how lost Bob Dylan was in the presence of this talent. Cyndi Lauper's passionate contribution being interupted by her clanging earrings and Billy Joel's mock irritation at discovering the difficult key the song is written in. Springsteen's intense ad lib recording sessions.
A worthy addition to any 1980's music lovers collection.

Customer Reviews:
EXCELLENT Live Performance of the Blue-Eyed Soul Duo!.......2007-04-18
This is an EXCELLENT DVD of Hall & Oates' live performance. I don't think I've ever heard a better sounding live performance by any other artist(s) except for maybe Pink Floyd when they did their "Pulse" tour. The musicianship is superb from ALL the musicians involved in this production. The live sound is impeccable and the sound engineer did a fabulous job with the sound. Buy it!
Also, for those of you who like Todd Rundgren (whose voice is very similar to Darryl Hall's), you might want to purchase his live DVD, Liars Live!, which is also an excellent production and has a futuristic opening, with the first song "Truth" performed with a "blue haze glow" filter on the camera. Another excellent choice! PS-I think John Oates is much more handsome with a moustache and I wish he would grow it back.
Blue eyed soul that works........2006-05-16
During the summers of the late '60s and early '70s, the sound of Hall and Oates were known as Blue Eyed Soul in Philly by the jocks on WDAS, the Big D in Philly. I believe Georgie Woods, the guy with the goods, coined that phrase. Well, this is Blue Eyed Soul that works. Hall and Oates put their stamp on some soul classics and in some instances, re-invents them. This DVD was shot in the Bahamas, and while it was disturbing sometimes to see that members of the audience were playing pool while Hall and Oates were performing, it did not take away from the fabulous performance of these musicians. All the musicians on this release were outstanding, and they should have toured the world with this concert. This DVD is a lesson in great guitar playing especially with the amplified acoustic guitar. One of the musicians looks country and western with his "kick ass" hat that was referred to in the movie, "Kill Bill 2." But this guy gives a powerful solo performance on one song showing he has more soul than the best of soul men. This is a great DVD with great music, great sound, and great musicians. I give it my highest recommendation.
This is The Best!.......2006-05-03
You know that Hall & Oates just seem to get better and better as time goes on!!! I Love every song on this DVD:) I know that you will, too.....
Can do justice to ANY song.......2006-02-21
Who else could sing others' songs like these two? Some of the songs on this CD sound better than the originals. Hall and Oates are SO much better together than apart. If you are a Hall and Oates fan, and have not purchased this newest one, you are missing out.
As I am enjoying playing this one in my vehicle's CD player over and over, I await the next one.
WOW!.......2006-01-23
This is a must for any Hall & Oates fan or any music lover! Hall still sounding great!!

Elvis Costello is the guy who, in 2003, reissued a recording (Get Happy!!) containing no less than 50 tracks, including 30 that weren't on the original release. So it should come as no surprise that The Right Spectacle, a compilation of Costello videos spanning the years 1978 to 1994, is a similarly generous offering from an artist with one of the longest and most prolific resumes in contemporary pop music. And "generous" is putting it mildly. There are 27 videos (arranged in chronological order), along with an additional 18 live performances, with a total running time of nearly three hours. Quantity alone won't cut it, of course, but there's a lot of quality material here, especially considering that by his own admission, making videos was never exactly a high priority for Costello and his band the Attractions. The early, geeky stuff is pretty primitive, but Costello is such a great songwriter that the sheer number of quality tunes overrides most quibbles one might have about the videos themselves. And there are some real gems along the rest of the way, like "New Lace Sleeves," filmed in elegant black & white; the surreal and emotionally raw "I Wanna Be Loved"; and "Veronica," which brilliantly brings to life Costello's song about his grandmother's battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Every track includes Costello's wry, witty commentary (available as an audio track and/or as subtitles), filled with tales of bad fashion choices and drunken high jinks. Meanwhile, the 18 "TV archive selections" range from '77-'83, all of them live and of varying degrees of interest; Costello adds thousands more words about them in the accompanying booklet. All in all, Elvis Costello fans could hardly ask for more than this terrific collection. --Sam Graham
Description
This DVD, a unique collection of the visual works of Elvis Costello, boasts a grand total of 27 videos and includes material rarely seen since the original release of the singles they supported. From his first Radar Records single in 1978, "I Don't Want To Go To (Chelsea)," to his final video for Warner Bros., "13 Steps Lead Down" (from 1994's Brutal Youth), this is a must purchase for all serious Elvis Costello enthusiasts and fans alike.
Customer Reviews:
So Fabulous!! A ton of fun to watch and worth every penny!.......2007-06-16
Sure, the early videos are super-cheesy. They are, nonetheless, really fun to watch. And in case we've all forgotten how things used to be...ALL videos from 1978 look like that. The songs are still all great, as is much of the live footage. In particular, "Clowntime is Over" from a show called The Tube is mesmerizing.
But the thing that really sets this video collection apart is the excellent commentary by Elvis. The stories he tells about the videos are smart, funny--really interesting behind-the-scenes tidbits. The commentary enhances the experience of watching the videos by an enormous amount--it was fascinating stuff. I watched the entire DVD in one sitting--I was riveted. And by the way, I really appreciate that Elvis doesn't say too much. He doesn't just blather on and on, as if often the case with these things. It's nice that you can listen to the commentary and still enjoy the videos.
Buy this DVD right now! You won't be sorry.
The "Attractive" Elvis.......2006-08-08
This is Elvis at his best - It's all here from the quirky to the polished.
Some Things Are Better Heard Than Seen.......2006-07-31
I got suckered again by the typical Amazon 5 star "must have" reviews. Again I am disappointed to always take these blanket 5 star review's as the definitive word and not actually read what they say, just look at the 5 stars. Well here's a pretty honest review. I paid about 12 bucks for this, would I buy it again now that I saw it? Maybe, maybe not. As I write this I am listening to 200 or so of EC's songs playing on random so yes I really like Elvis's music after all these years from around 1979. The videos are in general unwatchable, I mean really really bad. The thing Elvis does great even today is write and play great music. His ego is on ultra drive in his video's, I mean couldn't he come up with any other idea than to show close up's of his mug and his small (at the time) frame jerking around? Two or three videos doing this I can understand but it seemed like there were at least 6 to 10 like that. No chicks, no themes, no stories, just EC making cute faces (close up on camera) like he's a real Johnny Rotten/Sid Vicious type. What can I say, I grew up and got into this music before there was MTV and I remember seeing videos in the dance clubs from bands like David Bowie, The Specials, The Stranglers, Split Endz, DEVO, I mean they were all crude (except Bowie and DEVO) but they were a lot more interesting than the monotony presented here. The 3 stars goes to the "live" footage, it's not too bad and offers us EC when he's best seen, playing his music to an audience. The videos are best for those curious but be prepared to be disappointed, I know what kind of videos were being made in this early (? not even early since rock videos started in the 60's) rock video stage and these are definitely on the forgettable side. The live stuff offers some redemption but even EC says in the liner notes that there is better stuff (SNL probably, surely the time I saw him do Veronica on The Tonight Show) available but he couldn't get the rights to release it. So this is not in any way THE BEST you can get of Elvis Costello on video, sorry to say.
Why are you even reading this review?.......2006-06-15
A hell of a way to title a review, I know. But look, if you are an Elvis Costello fan of any size, be it huge, big, medium or small, you absolutely need to get this DVD.
With twenty-seven different videos and over an hours worth of rare bonus material, this disc isn't exactly lacking for content. The videos themselves are the main draw and even the cheesiest ones are still awesome, like "Pump It Up", "High Fidelity" and "I Can't Stand Up For Falling Down". As the years progress, the videos get better and better. Standouts include "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding" (which is still kind of cheesy... but great!), "Accidents Will Happen", "New Lace Sleeves", "Veronica" and my personal fave, "I Wanna Be Loved", which is stunning in its simple yet original setup. All of the videos have commentary by the man itself complete with subtitles. The commentaries are more funny than anything but it's nice to hear from Costello himself on the little known behind the scenes details of the videos.
In closing, I can't give this any less than five stars. For the amount of material that you get for the $15 or so dollars this DVD costs, this disc is a must for the EC fan and worth at least a look from the casual fan.
For Fans Only.......2006-05-23
This DVD has twenty-seven videos; six tunes, including the brilliant "So Like Candy", didn't appear on the VHS tape. Unfortunately, the audio or video has not been enhanced so it's no better than the tape. However, Elvis provides a sparse commentary track for each video, and there is 66 minutes of live material broken up into seven segments. Problem is you can't play them all at once... that is, after each segment it defaults back to the bonus menu. The live material has some old footage but the performances range from quite sloppy to superb so this disc is probably for fans only.

Product Description
The record breaking pop duo Hall and Oates were, during the 1980's, 2 of the most famous men in the music world. Their soul-infused pop songs were clearly what millions of international listeners yearned for, and made them into constant Top 40 hitmakers. THE VIDEO COLLECTION includes 7 of the group's most popular videos, including "Say It Isn't So" and "Maneater."

Daryl Hall & John Oates Video collection.......2005-08-19
Bought this item by mistake.... very old video - kind of dissapointed....
Disappointing mastering.......2004-03-16
Due to a technical defect during mastering, this DVD(a verbatim transfer of the old RCA/Columbia Pictures VHS program) clips off the start of the song "Maneater".Hold off on buying this 7-song collection, because BMG may someday be releasing a more extensive Hall & Oates video collection on DVD.Legal problems concerning Lightyear Entertainment's claim of a long-term license on the 7 videos included in "7 Big Ones" have BMG's DVD on indefinite hold.
Wish it was better, but still worth it!.......2003-12-11
Well, some of the videos on the DVD were not that great of quality and the sound has a bit muffled, but as it's Hall & Oates, we can forgive and forget heheh.
Still worth the buy as it's some of the greatest hits they had in their 80s...
Wish There Were More Than 7 Videos.......2003-05-23
I particularly liked the videos for "Say It Isn't So", and "One On One", though I'm not sure about the settings for the other 5 videos, I would call them 'fair'. Nice to see Hall & Oates in their earlier days, and how videos and their music have changed, for the better!
Don't have it on DVD, yet!.......2003-02-15
It's a compilation of their greatest hits from the '80's. But you can see the progression of their videos. Songs like "Private Eyes" that were shot against a black screen to the theatrics of "Adult Education" show how the video has changed in a span of only two years!
If you're a die-hard fan like me, this is a great way to start a video collection!

THE BEST WORST MOVIE YOU WILL EVER WATCH!!.......2007-01-24
Here is my summary I posted on my blog..... enjoy
There really are no words to describe a viewing of this movie. If you have and idea for the worst movie you have watched previously, this movie will top it by far. friends and I watched this and I truly believe it has scarred one for life. Little Otik was a bizzare journey in flim, but this one also leaves a mark on you, and as my friend states says "a giant skid mark"
Summary:
Anus is in trouble and people are trying to kill him. He is addicted to women, booze, and rolling bums. The movie relays this character to perfection.
Anus ends up with a woman in a thong who caps the guy who was trying to kill Anus. If she wasn't there, Anus would be dead. Che-Che is after Anus because Anus banged on of his chicks. His roomate with mustard dripping down his wife-beater tells Anus he has to take out the trash because he's sick of the dead body rotting in the trash can. So Anus now drives around town (in his pimping 78 buick)with the corpse and then Satan appears. Now, satan is after Anus (or is he)? Satan likes to peak around trees and appears to be stalking at first, Satan is always peeking and staying "ANUS!!" and as you guessed satan likes peeking at Anus. Anus bangs more chicks and beats up bums while sporting the worst hawaiian shirt and bad, bad hair. The final scene is Satan finally confronting Anus. I won't spoil the fun(OK, there is no fun from some dude in a suit wearing a dollar store satan mask)
Also, inbetween this wacky and incoherent plot are very long drawn out soft-core porn style sex scenes, completely unrelated to the movie.
The filming quality is just as someone carried around an old VHS hand-recording camera.
This movie is 99.9% unscripted and well, you can just guess what is going to happen.
For those who want to watch, the worst movie you will ever see, I recommend this movie, it makes Plan 9 looking like Citizen Kane, happy viewing
