This extended Behind the Music details the tumultuous life and career of hard rock pioneer Dave Mustaine and his band, Megadeth. Kicked out of Metallica, the band he co-founded, in 1982, the guitarist/vocalist got his revenge by forming Megadeth. His mission statement for his new group: "...to be the fastest, utmost furious heavy metal band ever." But if anybody embodied the philosophy "live hard, play hard" it was Mustaine, who battled heroin addiction for nearly 10 years. Five lineups, 16 trips to rehab, one near-death experience, and more than 20 million albums later, Megadeth have more than made their mark in metal. Also included: "too hot for MTV/VH1" version of the video for "Moto Psycho."

The dvd for any Megadeth fan.......2005-10-09

From Dave Mustaine's rough days as a kid, to his early days in Metallica, to his ups and downs fronting Megadeth: this dvd gives you an inside look on the roller coaster that is Megadeth. Also, for those that laugh at Metallica for going through group therapy sessions, you'll find that they are not the only ones that went through that.

An interesting look at Megadeth.......2004-12-11

If you're a Megadeth fan, you'll love this DVD: that's the bottom line. A lot of it won't be new to you, but there were a few things in it that I hadn't known, and it's interesting to hear all the stories from the people who've been with and around the band throughout it's history.

On the downside, there are some inaccuracies. For example, it says that Megadeth's "Countdown to Extinction" debuted at number 2, but that Metallica's self-titled album came out afterwards and debuted at number 1. But actually, "Countdown to Extinction" came out A YEAR AFTER Metallica's self-titled album (Metallica's album came out in the summer of 1991; "Countdown" came out in the summer of 1992).

A good look at the band, but unfortunately, the happy ending they close with didn't last. Mustaine suffered an injury and ended Megadeth's run about 6 months or so after this DVD came out. He later released the final Megadeth album, "The System Has Failed", which is really a Dave Mustaine solo album released under the Megadeth banner to fulfill contractual obligations (and Dave admits this -- but regardless of whose name is on the front, it's a fantastic album -- Mustaine's best in years.)

Great show.... but worth the money?! .......2004-09-22

Coming from one of the biggest Megadeth fans around (and I really mean that), let me tell you that this is a very insightful and engaging tv special. I REALLY enjoyed watching it. Very cool indeed.

However, will I ever watch it again? Doubtful. Will anyone else who buy's it ever watch it again? I can't say it is very likely. If you're lucky enough to catch it on TV: tape it.
Otherwise, $23 plus tax and shipping is just too much to spend.
You are much better off buying Rude Awakenings DVD or finishing off your MEgadeth collection, becaues every CD rocks!

If you've got money to burn, go for it. Otherwise, check your TV listings.
