Essential for true Pavement fans.......2006-03-01

As quirky as the band itself, this DVD gives a great history lesson and insight into the inner workings of the band. It does a great job explaining how a couple of UVA boys, a cali stay-at-home, a part-down-the-middle-outside-the-pocket-bassist and a hippie drummer (and later a drummer how could show up on time and play semi-tight gigs) turned the indie world into fans of smart-alec lyrics and sloppy shows. The live show cuts are fantastic. Add it to your collection and you will not be dissappointed.

Watching this with my wife really took us back to the great days of our courtship and mutual interest in the music of Pavement. All I can say is "Thank you at last!" and "Wonderful". No true Pavement fan should be without this... The mud-slinging scene, the slanted and disenchanted S.M., the ridiculous videos, the two angled live concert recordings, all much appreciated! Thanks guys, and good luck in all that you do. Don't go for the trifecta, but go for this DVD instead.

I am so torn over this movie..........2005-07-02

I love Pavement. They are absolutely one of my favorite bands. This DVD, though, is just simply awful. The videos are good to have, and for that I'm grateful. But the documentary is so boring and shot so poorly. The live concert sound is terrible and doesn't do Pavement justice at all.

I'm also not a big fan of back-in-the-day documentaries, I guess. I like seeing things as they unfold, not watch people reminisce about the past. This band, more than any other, deserves better.

Rate this FIVE stars for Pavement. MINUS ONE star for the documentary. Hence, two stars.

I just had to comment on this DVD. I waited for this DVD for about 2 1/2 years. I even purchased a DVD player the day I heard this was in production, so I wouldn't be without one when it came out. Well, the day came and I was crushed! The videos I'd seen before, and they are what they are. Entertaining, goofy, lovable. BUT, the documentary! It's terrible. The editing is terrible. There was little to no narration, very little new information. The art direction was non-existent. There was no definable visual threads through the whole film. It seemed poorly planned and organized. The live footage was pretty good, but there wasn't enough footage from after Crooked Rain, but before Terror Twilight.
