Martin Scorsese's 1978 capsule history of the Band is mixed with footage of the group's allegedly last performance (certainly their last performance as a quintet) in this particularly stylish concert film. Scorsese shoots the players and their sundry guests with the same flair and enthusiasm one can see in the later The Color of Money or Goodfellas. He also proves a good interviewer with Band members, particularly Robbie Robertson, whose sleepy-sexy good looks make a star-caliber impression in close-up. But the film's real hook is the stage show, which features a rotation of rock legends (Van Morrison, Joni Mitchell, Paul Butterfield, Bob Dylan, and so on) playing with the Band before a wildly appreciative audience. --Tom Keogh

There's enough reviews of this Classic. I'm 50+ and showed my copy of this DVD to my teenage kids last Thanksgiving. They were enthralled! My daughter asked for it as a gift for her graduation from UT (uhhh, I guess that means she's not a teenager anymore! but my son is and a Music major at UT). That about says it all I think.

5 out of 5 stars The Standard for Concert Films - A Trip down Memory Lane!.......2007-05-16

Viewing "The Last Waltz," was like a trip down rock history memory lane. This is the DVD you show your children to introduce them to rock music of the seventies. The direction of Martin Scorsese provides the viewer with insightful interviews coupled with lush musical productions. I am still trying to decide on my favorite performance - there are just too many! Also, buy the CD - you will not be disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars The Last Waltz-The Band.......2007-05-15

Probably the best concert film of its kind to date!! Every performer was captured in their prime all at one major rock event. Don't miss it.

5 out of 5 stars THE LAST WALTZ IS THE BAND'S MOST SHINING MOMENT........2007-04-15

I will be writing a review on the legendary historic live DVD concert entitled "THE LAST WALTZ" by one of Rock's greatest legendary bands ever. I give you one of America's pride and joy's, THE BAND. "THE LAST WALTZ" was originally released in 1978 by MGM and United Artists. As always, if I hear any new additional information concerning this legendary band or the artist, I will edit this review immediately so that you the consumer will get the best informative and most accurate review possible.

THE BAND will forever go down in Rock n' Roll history and be remembered for recording some of Rock's most sacred anthems. BOB DYLAN recruited THE BAND known then as THE HAWKS as his back-up group for the 1965-66 World Tour. When THE BAND recorded their first album "MUSIC FROM BIG PINK" in 1968, it was clearly evident that THE BAND had a very special blend and brand of sound formula that would soon be their trademark. When the late great bassist Rick Danko met and joined up with drummer Levon Helm, organist Garth Hudson, the late great pianist Richard Manuel and guitarist Robbie Robertson, the line-up was complete and THE BAND would be born. THE BAND would record many great legendary albums through the years to highly critically acclaim. However, being on the road for many years was starting to take a toll on THE BAND and the group was contemplating retiring from the Rock n' Roll world. Which brings me to the DVD concert I'm about to review for you now. "THE LAST WALTZ" was to be THE BAND'S last hurrah and farewell at Robbie Robertson's request. "THE LAST WALTZ" was filmed and recorded live by Martin Scorsese on Thanksgiving Day 26 November 1976 at the legendary historic Winterland in San Francisco, California. This legendary historic concert was a star studded Rock show which featured fellow contemporary artists such as BOB DYLAN, ERIC CLAPTON, NEIL YOUNG, JONI MITCHELL, VAN MORRISON, NEIL DIAMOND, EMMYLOU HARRIS, MUDDY WATERS, THE STAPLES, RINGO STARR, RON WOOD, DR. JOHN, PAUL BUTTERFIELD and RONNIE HAWKINS. "THE LAST WALTZ" without a doubt, is one of the greatest live concerts ever recorded. "THE LAST WALTZ" is also THE BAND'S greatest achievement and most shining moment in their career. In my opinion, "THE LAST WALTZ" is a true testament of the creative brilliance and musical creativity of five extremely talented masterminded individuals. "THE LAST WALTZ" is also a fine fitting tribute to a great legendary band that was truly indeed, far ahead of their time. And now without further delay, it is now time for me to take you back in time to Thanksgiving Day, 26 November 1976 at the Winterland, San Francisco, California where THE BAND is about ready to take the stage.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS FILM SHOULD BE PLAYED LOUD. It is now time to let the music of THE BAND and many others to speak for itself and back it up by doing all of the talking. The film begins with the "Main Theme from "THE LAST WALTZ." This legendary historic concert film begins with the legendary BAND song "Don't Do It," the uplifting "Up On Cripple Creek," RONNIE HAWKINS singing the rendition of the BO DIDLEY classic "Who Do You Love," DR. JOHN singing "Such A Night," NEIL YOUNG singing "Helpless," THE BAND singing a great live version of "Stagefright," THE BAND singing a great version of their song "The Weight" with the help and assistance of THE STAPLES, THE BAND singing an unforgetable version of "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down," NEIL DIAMOND singing "Dry Your Eyes," JONI MITCHELL singing "Coyote," THE BAND and PAUL BUTTERFIELD sing their rendition of "Mystery Train," MUDDY WATERS singing his classic Blues song "Mannish Boy," ERIC CLAPTON singing a great version of "Further On Up The Road," a fine BAND and EMMYLOU HARRIS studio recording of "Evangeline," Garth Hudson's organ solo "Genetic Method" THE BAND sings a fantastic version of their song "Ophelia," VAN MORRISON sings a wonderful version of "Caravan," BOB DYLAN sings "Forever Young," BOB DYLAN sings a great version of "Baby Let Me Follow You Down" and the star studded finale which features RINGO STARR and RON WOOD, "I Shall Be Released." May I also add that this is one hell of a concert that everyone can see over and over again and never get tired of it.

Overall, this is one hell of a DVD concert worth seeking further research into and checking out especially if you are a diehard hardcore BAND fan and many of the artists that appeared in this legendary historic concert film or a devout music collector. As for all of the curious newcomers and new beginners that are not familiar with the sound and music of THE BAND, I would highly recommend purchasing this live DVD concert. This is one great live DVD concert that you will be glad that you bought.

I would like to highly recommend purchasing this legendary historic DVD concert to own as a valuable and important part of his or her own personal music and DVD concert collection. This legendary historic concert has already proven to stand the test of time and will always be around to be enjoyed, appreciated and cherished for many years to come, NOW AND FOREVER. You can purchase this legendary historic concert on both a 4-CD set and on DVD. This is one great concert that no hardcore music fan or devout music collector would want to be without.

In closing, following the release of "THE LAST WALTZ," THE BAND would retire from the music world for many years until they reunited for the LIVE AID concert in 1985. THE BAND would soon after suffer their worse tragedies in the group's career with the untimely deaths of pianist Richard Manuel in March 1986 and bassist Rick Danko in December 1999. THE BAND received the highest ultimate honor by being inducted into the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame in 1994. THE BAND has forever left their mark in Rock n' Roll history and will never be forgotton. So here's to you late great Rick, Levon, Garth, late great Richard and Robbie. Thanks for the great memories. RICK DANKO LIVES. RICHARD MANUEL LIVES. And as the saying goes, "AND THE REST IS ROCK N' ROLL HISTORY," am I wrong? Thanks for reading my review and I hope that you have enjoyed reading it as much as I have enjoyed writing it for your reading pleasure. I also hope that all of you will read all of my other reviews in the near future when time permits. THE BAND FOREVER. R.I.P. RICK DANKO, Born 9 December 1943, Died 10 December 1999 at age 56. Also R.I.P. RICHARD MANUEL, Born 3 April 1943, Died 4 March 1986 at age 43. Long Live Rock n' Roll. Rock out always and take it easy. Forever In Rock, John L.

Initially broadcast as a TV miniseries to go with the series of three Anthology double-CD albums, this set of eight documentary tapes has the heft and scope of one of Ken Burns's expansive projects. Still, unless you are either a historian or a truly committed fan, you'll find yourself with way more material--particularly about the Beatles' early lives as lads in Liverpool--than you'll want to watch. The documentary material is copious, including early performance films and tapes, at the point before they found their true voices. The actual Beatlemania years--beginning in 1963 and concluding in 1970--feature extensive performance films, as well as home movies and archival material. The best parts, of course, are the interviews with the Beatles themselves, who produced the entire thing. Along with reworking two previously unreleased John Lennon tracks as "new Beatles songs," the Anthology includes some unseen Lennon interview tapes so that his acerbic voice can be heard as well. This stands as a comprehensive document of that heady period, the second coming of rock & roll, as the Beatles took what Elvis had started and expanded upon it exponentially. The tapes give a solid sense of the historical context and the way these four musicians changed the world around them in the 1960s. --Marshall Fine

5 out of 5 stars That's Entertainment!.......2007-05-22

People, please. What could be more entertaining than hours upon hours of the Beatles telling their story? I have watched this many times, and never tire of it. If you are a fan, you are missing out if you don't see this. And the bonus material is great too - Paul George and Ringo jamming and reminscing - wow!

4 out of 5 stars A great bargain.......2007-05-16

This Beatles Anthology DVD set is a great bargain because when it originally came out in the mid 90's on VHS tapes it was about $120 more. I still have a catalog from then to prove it. I was very impressed with the sound quality. The best sound quality I've ever heard Beatles music presented in. Makes me wish my old Beatles CDs sounded that good. On alot of my other DVD's I have to crank the volume way up to get any decent audio. The only thing I didn't like is that during some of the songs like "Revolution" & "Hey Jude" there is talking. I'm interested in what they have to say but not during the songs. And it doesn't seem to have a feature where you can just play the music videos. But I guess it's supposed to be a documentary & not a collection of music videos. Also I seem to recall some minor scenes when I saw it on TV in 1995 that weren't on the DVD, like the reunited Beatles in the 90's admiring one of the member's fancy car.

5 out of 5 stars Beatles Anthology.......2007-05-16

This was a great price for a great product. I have really enjoyed watching all the episodes and learning more about the Beatles. The interviews with each of the members help give a personal perspective to the events surrounding the Beatles' amazing popularity. A great buy!

5 out of 5 stars A Must Have for Any Beatles Fan.......2007-04-23

Anthology is the history of the Beatles as told by the Beatles. It is the story of the Beatles from when they were young boys in Liverpool to when they recorded their last album, and everything in between. It is not only told through their words and interviews, but by their music, their movies and live performances, including their first concert at Shea Stadium and their appearances on the Ed Sullivan Show, just to name a few. Anthology also comes with a bonus disc of extras which includes the making of Anthology and the recording of the two latest Beatles singles, "Free as a Bird" and "Real Love". Anthology is 10 hours of pure joy for anyone who likes the Beatles. Just sit back, watch, listen and enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars The Best Thing You Could Have on The Beatles.......2007-04-04

If you never buy anything else pertaining to the Beatles, you must have this one DVD boxed set and the book that goes with it.Amazon's price is unbeatable,by the way. This is about 10 hours of complete Beatles history. The best pictures, concert footage, sound, etc.than any other Beatles DVD.This set is so superbly put together that it takes your breath away.I can't describe it.Just buy it and you will know what I mean.My favorite parts?Well everything, but the rare TV footage is priceless. The Shea Stadium concert is in gorgeous color and quite a lot of it is included. The EMI studio chat both for the early years and the White album is fantastic!Yeah, two sections where you hear nothing but snippits of conversation from the studio.Loved it.There's the boys' promo films for Paperback Writer and Rain. This is rare stuff and it's all here.Nothing is left out.It spans the years 1940-1970 just to give you an idea of the gargantuan tome you will be enjoying.Plus a bonus DVD which is facinating.Oh how could I forget?!There is a lot of concert footage also;ie,France in 1965 not '64,Blackpool Night Out from June 1965,and other marvelous concert footage.I'm a little annoyed about one reviewer who entitled his review "McCartney Grudge"and went on to say that Paul somehow fixed it so that John was edited out of the press conferences.Oh yeah, big bad Paul took the time out to do this. He also had time to wash everyone's cars in the parking lot and shampoo their dogs too.But he wouldn't wash Yoko's car.Whatever.Also one person noted George's discomfort being around Paul during the commentary. That's funny, because I saw Paul biting his nails and choosing his words very carefully whenever he was with the other two. It's no wonder since everything is always big bad Paul's fault.Enough already. If Paul McCartney ruffled George's feathers it's only because Paul was in his own little world in the studio. His only concern was making perfect music. The music he heard in his head. And John wasn't exactly sleeping either. If Paul stepped on some toes,oh well. The guy was a pop genious, a modern day Mozart. So was John for that matter.Geniouses always have volitile personalities, and they are usually perfectionists too.And thank God for that! Now we can sit back and enjoy the results of that genious every time we play a Beatles record.Anyway this DVD is the only one you need in your collection, but if you love the Beatles as much as I do you will want more.

The Fab Four from Liverpool--John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr--in their first movie. Nobody expected A Hard Day's Night to be much more than a quick exploitation of a passing musical fad, but when the film opened it immediately seduced the world--even the stuffiest critics fell over themselves in praise (highbrow Dwight Macdonald called it "not only a gay, spontaneous, inventive comedy but it is also as good cinema as I have seen for a long time"). Wisely, screenwriter Alun Owen based his script on the Beatles' actual celebrity at the time, catching them in the delirious early rush of Beatlemania: eluding rampaging fans, killing time on trains and in hotels, appearing on a TV broadcast. American director Richard Lester, influenced by the freestyle French New Wave and British Goon Show humor, whips up a delightfully upbeat circus of perpetual motion. From the opening scene of the mop tops rushing through a train station mobbed by fans, the movie rarely stops for air. Some of the songs are straightforwardly presented, but others ("Can't Buy Me Love," set to the foursome gamboling around an empty field) soar with ingenuity. Above all, the Beatles express their irresistible personalities: droll, deadpan, infectiously cheeky. Better examples of pure cinematic joy are few and far between. --Robert Horton

I will be writing a review on the legendary historic landmark movie entitled "A HARD DAYS NIGHT" starring the FAB FOUR and the true pride of England, T-H-E B-E-A-T-L-E-S! "A HARD DAYS NIGHT" was originally released in theaters in 1964 by United Artists and in 2002 in a Special Edition Collector's series in a Two DVD set by Miramax Entertainment Inc. which is distributed by Buena Vista Home Entertainment, Inc. As always, if I hear any new additional information concerning this legendary historic landmark film or the artist, I will edit this review immediately so that you the consumer will get the overall best informative and most accurate review possible.

As I've said before so many times, THE BEATLES will forever go down in Rock n' Roll history and be remembered for composing and recording THE ULTIMATE AND GREATEST ROCK N' ROLL SOUND THAT MUSIC EVER PRODUCED. THE BEATLES, up to this very day, are considered by many Rock critics as well as millions of fans the world over to be THE ULTIMATE ROCK ROYALTY. When THE BEATLES appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show on 9 February 1964, the world and Rock n' Roll would NEVER be the same again. In my opinion, THE BEATLES singlehandedly saved Rock n' Roll when Rock n' Roll was on the near verge of dying forever. When Elvis joined the Army, Chuck Berry would go to prison for violating the man act, Little Richard would go into the ministry and three of the nations top Rock n' Roll icons, Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P. (The Big Bopper) Richardson, would die in a plane crash in clearlake, Iowa in 1959, who was going to take over the helm and keep Rock n' Roll alive? Also, if that wasn't bad enough, JFK would be assassinated in Dallas, Texas on 22 November 1963. Our country besides Rock n' Roll was facing hard times. Our country was waiting for something good or anything to happen. It wouldn't be long before America as well as the whole world would get the answers to their prayers. Guess who it was? That's right, you guessed it, THE BEATLES. When you think about it, really, THE BEATLES truly came at a time when our country as well as Rock n' Roll was in desperate need of them. THE BEATLES made us laugh, made us happy when America was truly down in the dumps. And because of that, THE BEATLES would forever leave their mark and place in the world history books the world over for truly making a positive difference in the world. Which brings me to the film I'm about to review for you today. Following the extreme success of THE BEATLES four appearances on the Ed Sullivan Show and the Washington D.C. and Philadelphia concerts, THE BEATLES barely managed to fit "A HARD DAYS NIGHT" in their schedule. As a result of THE BEATLES undying loyalty and devotion to their fans the world over, THE BEATLES would not let them down and would prove it by delivering the film "A HARD DAYS NIGHT" to them as a present.

"A HARD DAYS NIGHT," in itself, is truly the greatest Rock n' Roll film ever made of its kind. This film captures THE BEATLES in a day in the life of a Rock n' Roll band reality story segment in the 1960's which truly captures the true spirit of what Rock n' Roll really is suppose to consist of. THE BEATLES would re-write and singlehandedly change the rules for Rock n' Roll completely. Rather than disclose the whole film concept or the plot and spoil it for you, I would rather you see the film for yourself and let you be the judge of it. Believe me when I say to you, that the music speaks for itself.

THE BEATLES would definitely let the their music do all of the talking in this film by performing original classic Rock anthems such as the magnificent "I Should Have Known Better," the beautifully slow and romantic "If I Fell," the Rockin' statement "Can't Buy Me Love," the beautifuuly slow acoustic "And I Love Her" and George Harrison's blistering Mersey Beat composition Rocker "I'm Happy Just To Dance With You" just to name a few.

In closing, I truly hope that all of you will purchase this legendary BEATLES movie through Amazon com or anywhere you desire and witness history in the making. It truly amazes me to this very day when I see a young man or woman in their early teens go inside of a music store and ask about THE BEATLES. With every new BEATLES fan that is born the world over, THE BEATLES are reborn all over again. As long as music still exists, THE BEATLES will live on forever as well as in our hearts as those four funny and witty young men from Liverpool, England who called themselves John Paul George and Ringo. This one's for you guys, my tribute to you. Thanks for reading my review and I truly hope that you have enjoyed reading it as much as I have truly enjoyed writing it for your reading pleasure. I also deeply hope that all of you will read all of my other reviews in the near future when time permits. THE BEATLES FOREVER! R.I.P. John Lennon (1940-1980) and George Harrison (1943-2001). Long Live Rock n' Roll. Rock out always and take it easy. Forever in Rock, John L.

5 out of 5 stars Classic Movie About a Classic Band.......2007-05-19

I can't believe that there are actually people who haven't seen this movie and would need to read a review. A Hard Day's Night has been a part of my consciousness since I was little, but considering the Beatles' fan base is so wide and varied by age, I guess there might be some young fans who have not seen it. Whether you've never seen it or you've seen it 20 times, this is essensial viewing for Beatle fans and also people who are studying the art of film. Many famous directors sight this film as the first one they ever studied and even say it made them want to be directors. I remember studying it in college film classes. It is noted for it's quick cut away camera work, and innovative lighting.

But of course I am a hard core Beatle fan so I bought this dvd because I just love it. It's their first film, and most people,( I think them included,) think it was their best. But I also like Help because it's in color and it's a beautiful film.

Made in 1964, it features the Beatles at the youngest that most American people remember them.(Paul and George were barely out of their teens at this point) It is still very funny but I think the Beatles were a lot funnier when they were just being themselves in a documentry (like The Maysles Brother's The First American Visit dvd), or in interviews. The diologue is sort of contrived and even though the screen writer traveled with them for months in order to get their speech patterns, I don't really think he was paying that much attention. I don't think he really captured them all that well. Or maybe they were too nervous to be natural. John and Paul come across as nervous and unatural. But they are still wonderful, and the music is really wonderful. This dvd has been remastered and restored of course, so it looks and sounds great.

I remember when A Hard Day's Night was still being shown on tv, so I'm a veteran but you will want to own this and watch it many times. What Beatle fan should be without this?

5 out of 5 stars classic.......2007-05-13

5 out of 5 stars Can't buy 5 stars!.......2007-03-18

You don't need to be a Beatles fan to love this movie--but you will be after seeing it! It's beautifully shot, funny, fun, and full of some of the best pop music in history. I've watched it repeatedly and will for the rest of my life.

    Product Description

SYNOPSIS: In their second feature with director Richard Lester, who oversaw the massive hit A Hard Day's Night, the Beatles again aim for a mix of goofy comedy and sterling pop music. There is slightly more of a plot this time, though it is a patently ridiculous one: a sacred ruby ring comes into Ringo's possession, attracting the unwelcome attention of an exotic religious cult and forcing the boys to go on the run. This chase narrative is thankfully never taken too seriously, serving mainly as an excuse for colorful excursions to international locations from Europe to the Bahamas. The musical numbers include such classic tunes as "Ticket to Ride," "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away," and, of course, "Help!". DVD SPECIAL FEATURES: Theatrical Trailer / Synopsis / Beatles Profiles. COMPLETE SONG LIST: Help! / You're Gonna Lose That Girl / You've Got to Hide Your Love Away / Ticket to Ride / I Need You / The Night Before / Another Girl.

In retrospect, it seems absurd that the United States government felt so threatened by the presence of John Lennon that they tried to have him deported. But that's what happened, as chronicled in directors David Leaf and John Scheinfeld's The U.S. vs. John Lennon. The film starts slowly, with a familiar look at the former Beatle's troubled childhood, his outspokenness as one of the Fabs ("We're more popular now than Jesus Christ," etc.), and his eventual hookup with Yoko Ono, paralleled by the growth of political protest in '60s America, particularly against the Vietnam War. John and Yoko went on to stage their own peaceful demonstrations, like the Canadian "bed-ins," but these were largely harmless media stunts. It was when the Lennons moved to New York in the early '70s and took a more active role in the anti-war movement, making friends with radicals like Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, and Black Panther Party founder Bobby Seale, that the government got interested--and paranoid--and men like President Richard Nixon, FBI director J. Edgar Hoover, and right-wing Sen. Strom Thurmond began actively looking for ways to silence him (it was Thurmond who came up with the deportation idea). That's also when the film picks up. An array of talking heads weighs in, ranging from Ono and others sympathetic to Lennon's plight (Walter Cronkite, Sen. George McGovern, even Geraldo Rivera) to those on the other side, including Watergate conspirator G. Gordon Liddy. Though The U.S. vs. John Lennon is hardly impartial, it's safe to say that although Lennon was more an idealist than an activist, he was an influential celebrity whom Nixon viewed as a potential nuisance in an election year. And even once Nixon had won the '72 presidential race, the Immigration and Naturalization Service refused to drop its case. Why? "Anybody who sings about love, and harmony, and life, is dangerous to somebody who sings about death," says author Gore Vidal. "Lennon... was a born enemy of the U.S. He was everything they hated." For music fans, Lennon's solo recordings provide the soundtrack. The DVD also contains considerable additional documentary footage. --Sam Graham

      Description

The compelling and provocative story of John Lennon's evolution from beloved Beatle to outspoken artist and activist to iconic inspiration for peace, and how, in the midst of one of the most tumultuous times in American history, Lennon stood his ground, refused to be silenced and courageously won his battle with the U.S. Government.

Harry Nilsson wrote the entirely hummable songs (including the hit, "Me and My Arrow") for this charming, 1971 animation feature about a boy with a round head who is banished from the land of pointy-headed people. An allegory about nonconformism presented in a delightful way, this is a treat for everybody. Ringo Starr, the late Nilsson's old pal, narrates. --Tom Keogh

Half its members may be dead and its leader may be keeping a low profile, but the Who remains enormously popular. Devotees who haven't availed themselves of Jeff Stein's thrilling, self-mocking 1979 documentary about the group shouldn't wait another minute now that the film has been painstakingly--perhaps heroically--restored to its theatrical-release length from original elements. The sound is clearer than on previous video releases, images are once more crisp and color-rich, and adjustments in tape speed make the Who sound like themselves again, particularly in vintage television performances and filmed club dates from as far back as the band's sonically thrilling, early R&B period. Special features are, shall we say, extensive: 100 or so minutes of multiple-angle footage, an insightful interview with Roger Daltrey, a featurette about the film's restoration, and a mesmerizing, isolated John Entwistle audio track. --Tom Keogh

The Beatles - Let It Be - Limited Collector's Edition: 1 Disc 9GB Dual-Layer DVD by Audio Tape Inc. A T.V. Special played in 1970. Originally it was entitled as 'Get Back' showing the Beatles rehearsing, jamming and performing for their new songs. This is the only documentary film released officially and was then changed to be called 'Let It Be'. It marks the ending of the career of the Beatles (John Lennon, Paul McCarthy, George Harrison, & Ringo Starr). A message about the career of the Beatles told by the Beatles themselves. This video has won the 1966 Grammy Awards for "Best Music Video, long form". The Beatles had, as Paul said at the end of the video, "united for somehow, some way". The band was filmed rehearsing and recording songs. It tried to show the creative process of making a Beatles album. But it was at that time when the Beatles were all fighting with each other, so it really showed how the Beatles were breaking up. They argue with each other and are concerned with their own individual songs, rather than the group songs. However, they weren't always fighting and it gives a look at the process of making the songs and working them so they would sound better musically. This is a documentary and it is interesting because it is real! Relive The Beatles Music, Genius, & Magic! It is now in the Public Domain (out of copyright period).

Yes, that's a former Beatle in caveman costume for this more-dumb-than-funny 1981 comedy about a prehistoric misfit (Ringo Starr) who recruits other misfits to start a new tribe. The jokes about flatulence and sex are banal, but the cast of then-unfamiliar faces is fun to watch from the perspective of history. The best thing going are some dinosaur special effects, though Ringo might argue meeting his future wife (Barbara Bach) was a good deal. --Tom Keogh
