Good but could be better..........2005-05-20
The DVD has a lot of cool things about it. The main menu is interactive, yet takes some used to getting around. The videos are really cool. The live performance is good but way to many video angles, which makes it feel more like a music video rather than live concert footage. The documentary is good, yet i still can't find the "Sub Sub Documentary", which is the second documentary on the DVD. Overall pretty good.
Great DVD For Doves Fans and Casual Fans alike.......2005-05-14
The DVD is worth it for the live portion alone - I found it to be incredibly good and was suprised at how fun they are to watch live. They have such an epic and catchy sound but are usually performing to small audiences, making it very satisfying.
It's too bad "Some Cities" is not included in this DVD as it was released afterwards. The videos are classics and are just as well-produced as the rest of the DVD.
not bad.......2004-02-05
I am a big fan of the Doves, and was thrilled to see that they put out a DVD. The videos are quite nice, so are the extras. However the live footage was quite dissapointing. Too many camera angles almost made me dizzy. It really doesn't have the "feel" like you are in the audience. Maybe its just me, but I don't need cameras swooping in and out to enjoy the performance. It felt like an MTV video or something... however the band played wonderfully. Just be warned, this is not a very candid live set.
A wonderful overview of the band's short career.......2003-11-25
This arrived in the mail for me from amazon.ca on a day that I was home sick with the flu -- and it brightened my spirits significantly! From the on-screen menu onward, this DVD immerses you in a special place of the band's creating. The concert is quite good and nicely mixed in 5.1 (could've used a stronger drum mix, though), and the documentaries and videos are both excellent. Make sure to look hard for the "hidden" Sub Sub documentary -- it's aces, and one of the only ways to hear their out-of-print tunes.
